This is the kind of video this channel has lacked for a LONG time! I love Garage Grown Gear! I'm so glad you can expand to other brands other than what was available at REI!
MIRANDA! I got just as excited when you pulled out that EE puffy! Can you please maybe do a review eventually or let us know how you feel about it?! I’ve got one of their quilts and seriously one of the best pieces of gear I’ve ever purchased.
Awesome and entertaining video today! Love the unboxing of cottage industry items in your garage. Please consider me for the foldable bowl…a great addition to my ever evolving and learning curve that comes with packing for a backpacking trip! 🥰🥰
I would LOVE the coat by Enlightened Equipment! My husband and I bought their sleeping bags and they are AMAZING!!!! I love that you want to support smaller brands like these. Very cool! :)

@@philsantillan I've got the flat bowls and they work well. I had to crease the seams a bit before the buttons would hold, but they've been great since doing that.
That hoody or the puffy would be sweet!!!!!!!!! GGG is an awesome resource for UL gear. The fact they give cottage companies more reach for their innovative products, is such a novel idea. Glad to see you putting a spotlight on them.
Congratulations, Alysabeth! You are our official winner for this giveaway! Loved this video - I’m such a backpacking gear junkie - going on my second trip this year so I’m a newbie at 51! I followed your older videos and pretty much took your gear advice on everything! I was told I looked like I’d been doing it my whole life! ❤️ Thank you!! Love to hear more about that EE jacket!!
My 15yr daughter and I have watched all your videos and decided to go on our first backpacking trip in May. You have led us to Kula Kloth (which she is jazzed about) and other great hints. I would be thrilled to gift her any of the items as she is tiny, and making her pack light is my goal. Thanks for all your content and inspiration. We love your down to earth attitude and quirkiness.
I love cottage gear. Most of my gear tends to come from Dutchware, Hammock Gear, or Warbonnet. Had no idea about Garage Grown Gear. There are some really neat things here. I love that someone has started a hub for these brands! I need those foldable bowls!
I already knew GGG, it worth mention their customer service is truly awesome as well. If the EE Torrid Apex jacket is as good as their synthetic quilt, it must be incredible.
GGG includes the toothbrush as a freebie when they ship your order. Also, I used the nyloflume pack liner for about 10 overnight trips last year. It was really crinkly and loud for the first 1-2 trips, but got better as time went on.
I wonder if they would 'soften up' if you put them through a cycle in the washing machine. I do that with my shower curtain liners so they are not so stiff.
@@pm_davidjones I like that idea of breaking in the nyloflume before using it. Probably crumpling or twisting it up repeatedly would achieve a similar effect. I guess hiking with it for a few days in my pack accomplished the same thing. To add, I know some people have had bad experiences with nyloflume liners, like breaking or the crinkly cellophane noise. But it's worked for me. Super light, waterproof (kept my sleep gear dry when a water bladder leaked in my pack), cheap and has held up. I got the 2-pack from GGG and still have the other one unused.
Love this video and totally agree about the toothbrush (I never cut mine). Your account introduced me to the Kula Cloths and now I will never hike or backpack without one! I have a big trip at the end of this coming summer that I need the lightest weight gear for and so this is awesome!
So happy for you to finally share GGG with your community! I've been getting UL stuff from them for a while and love a lot of their gear. Very interested to see how your gear changes as you start doing your own channel now! The Webo Fanny Pack is made of X-pac (or EPX200) and I highly recommend it (especially in the PNW). It's not as light as dynema or ultra fabric, but it's very rugged and mostly waterproof. I would love to see what you think of the Atom Packs Mo as a backpack in the future. I feel like it's the perfect in-between for folks who don't want to go full UL.
I personally have the exact foldable bowl. It came as a set on Amazon with a larger less deep plate and cup! Have tested them in the back country numerous times and they work great. Only caution would be they can be hot when holding them. They withstand high heat but you can feel the heat through the material. I love that they store completely flat and they are super easy to clean.
@@meganv1735 Nice!! I've made a food cozy with a screw-top heatproof plastic bowl and the standard reflectix/foil tape DIY method. I was wondering if I could use the same type of cozy with a bowl like that as a liner on the inside instead. Do you think that would work? The food I bring is typically stuff you just pour boiling water into and wait (like oatmeal) so the main concern for me is keeping it hot while it rehydrates.
I would also recommend if you purchase them to snap them and leave them snapped for a bit before you plan to use them. It helps the ceases form for use.
I love the new channel and really really love that you are highlighting cottage brands! This was all the energy I love from Miranda videos showing off so many amazing pieces of gear I had never even heard of before
I am newer to hiking but love Garage Grown Gear! I have had multiple orders from them. Communication is fantastic and shipping is on time. The gear is innovative and amazing. Congrats on the new channel and this exciting new chapter of your life. If I don’t win the plate, I am going to purchase it!!!! All my best Miss Miranda!
GGG has been an awesome resource for gear as I've been building out my kit. Such a cool company and I love supporting the smaller cottage brands. Would love to add the Hartford dyneema bags into the mix! Awesome seeing you branch out and grow on your new channel!
That hoodie that you got is so awesome, you look great in that color Miranda! Now you have a fantastic collection of new gear that needs a field-test! 🎉
Omg the beginning when she imitated Brad Pitt “what’s in the box!” 😂😂😂 the toothbrush earrings (almost choke on my water) the ultralight bidet love it. I think Miranda is converting to the ultralight nation. Drink that cool-aid. Those gadgets has some of my name on it
love that you'll be able to share small innovative companies! I'm putting the snapfold bowls and that ultralight hoodie on my wish list. Thanks for fun content!
Woot woot! I love garage grown gear!!! Those toothpaste tabs are my favorite and I've tried a few and hated them. They actually do a really good job at imitating toothpaste unlike others
My 7 year old loves watching your videos with me every week. Your potty humor dialed in sharp to his. I asked him which product he would like to out of the box. He said the coat probably wouldn’t fit either of us but everything else except the toothbrush would be cool. I said the toothbrush only cost .49¢. If we found ourselves in a pinch I bet we could get at least $1.50 selling it as an earring. He still wasn’t sold.
Love that you're showcasing these brands! I've been coveting the enlightened equipment jacket for ages now haha. A synthetic jacket that is still super light? Incredible
I love GGG and finding a rad assortment of small brands creating fun things! The EE jacket is amazing totally can’t wait to hear more about it and that folding bowl 😮 what a great concept! Loving your new content!!
I have one of the folding bowls. I don't use it as a bowl a whole lot, I'll normally just use my mug when I need a bowl. I use it as a cutting board though or to set food on when so it stays off the dirt.
Love cottage brands the hardest part is finding them so I love knowing about the garage gear website to find smaller companies. I’d love to try either of those clothing pieces. Your look of wonder feeling the fabrics has be so curious to touch and feel them!
I hope this surprise box becomes a thing--super fun and informative! My back is useless at bearing any weight so I've had to convert to a hip pack (I wish there were more/better options for these btw). I run cold and layers are the order of the day so the FarPointe Alpha Cruiser Hoodie or the Torrid Apex Jacket would fit my needs. Thanks for introducing these cottage brands, Miranda!
I really think those foldable bowls are awesome, cause I’m always in the middle of packing a bowl or not, whilst I also hate eating out of my cup and waiting for tea to go in :)
I have a plastic bowl that snaps airtight and a small titanium pot. I like the bowl as it works for oatmeal, and rehydrating freeze dried meals using hot water or cold soaking. I enjoy my cup of coffee and oatmeal together.
I really laughed at that mini toothbrush, but the hit of the show was the origami plate/bowl. During camping trips I make paper swans and sailboats out of trash and the little ones love it. That plate/bowl is really cool.
So great seeing independent, local, and women lead/founded brands making waves on your channel now! ❤ I’m vegan and am always looking for down alternatives that are light weight for backpacking, looove that jacket and would be so grateful to add it to my set up! 😊
Everything in that box looks awesome, but I have to admit the Torrid Apex jacket looks really amazing! I am allergic to down and it is really hard to find a synthetic packable jacket that packs down really small. This looks like it would fit the bill.
right now i bring bamboo plates and burn them on my last morning of camping but these plate/bowls would be fantastic. if i don't win i'm gonna order them ;)
I’m still new to backpacking so I had no idea of the crazy awesome ways ultralighters cut weight with their gear. I’m def most interested in the puffy as I just went on my first backpacking trip and was freezing with the super thin one I currently have!
Ooh ooh, the Farpointe Alpha Cruiser is the one for me! My family and I are going around the world for two years right now, and I've loved trail running in my free time, but nothing has quite gotten that warm/light mixture just right yet. Love the video as always! :)
How fun, Miranda and team! I've always wanted to try some of the dyneema organizational bags. I'm currently using old makeup bags from Clinique "bonus" time. They work pretty well, but aren't always very light 😂
The hoodie, I assume, is an alpha direct hoodie. It is an ultralight insulation that sheds heat well when moving due to its holey nature. However, it is surprisingly warm when paired with a wind layer. I have a Senchi Designs Lark and it is amazing.
I have heard the same thing about the alpha direct shirts. Super warm and light but no wind resistance. People pair it with an extremely light wind breaker for a really versatile and lightweight setup.
I loved this video and I think that was a GREAT idea for Garage Grown Gear to send you that box. Although almost all the items were awesome, I think the bowls perked my interest the most. Brilliant!
The amazing thing about the alpha tech far point hoodie is that when you put a wind shirt or any layer over it, it keeps you super duper warm. On its own, it breaths and vents well and dries really really fast if it gets wet. I love my far point hoodie! Alpha Tech material was originally developed for the US Special Forces.
I discovered GGG last year and they’re awesome. Besides the stickers, they’ve always thrown one of those tiny toothbrushes in with my order. Nice people! Those EE Torrid Apex Jackets look awesome. I’d love to have one.
Love unboxings. You must do more! I'll check out Garage Grown Gear's website as soon as I comment (must feed YT's algorithm!). A while back, I got a similar thing to that folding bowl... it was a plate, bowl and spoon! I've used it a few times and it is really cool. Highly recommend carrying it in a tote or daypack just around town. Makes it easy to share lunch between people. Keep going Miranda and team! You're doing great!
The jacket and hoodie look so comfortable! And it's crazy that they're still so light. As an 'always cold' person, it would be amazing to add some warmth without the bulk
I could see myself getting just as excited with a box like! Its like a hikers Christmas from a hiking Santa!Farpointe Alpha cruiser hoodie!!! Love the color!
First off, great video highlighting some awesome brands and products. I use several of these and love Garage Grown Gear. If I could have one of the items shown, it would be the EE Apex Torrid Jacket but not for me, for my partner who loves backpacking but always struggles to stay warm enough in the evenings and chilly mornings.
LOVE Garage Grown Gear and have been buying from them (and discovering awesome new products/companies) for years. I would love the amazing hoodie or the jacket (I have a couple of the others ☺️).
Another great video. I’ve placed a few orders with Garage Grown Gear and their service and products are top notch! I’d love to add the EE Torrid jacket to my gear one day based on the weight and qualities of the synthetic materials. Keep the laughs and info coming.
I love this unboxing of gear from small companies! I would absolutely love to be considered for that puffy jacket! My boyfriend and I recently lost a lot of our backpacking gear in a house fire so we are slowly building our gear back up!
GGG is the best! Love this collab so much and looking into more cottage vendors. I have the Bogler trowel and it is pretty awesome. Would LOVE the FarPointe fleece! I've been needing a fleece for backpacking (and life in general) and this one checks a ton of boxes. #cozychic 💙
What a fun video! I'm not a hiker, though I have aspirations to one day be a hiker. 🤣🤣 I admit that I am very interested in the toothpaste tabs (which I did not know existed) and the foldable bowl. Those are super fun and I learned something new, so a total win!
I'm not in the US. Sadly. But I'd love to have the CuloClean Bidet (btw, that actually just mean AssClean) Keeping in line, the bathroom very realistic edit deserves an award, as well as the editors (and dog) behind the amazingly hilarious sound that made me repeat the same 5 seconds like 10 times, while I was trying to breathe when I was laughing. (Took me by surprise) Please, you all keep being amazing, unique and original. Your channel is the best!
GGGear is great! I especially like the small plastic dropper bottles for carrying all the rubbing alcohol, Wilderness Wash, burn treatment, etc. a person needs for a several day outing (that is, about a fall ounce). Traveling in civilization, a half ounce dropper bottle carries enough aftershave for about a month on the road. Of course, you can buy them from Amazon if you’re willing to have 4-12 dozen of the things, but to buy just a few for about a buck a piece? Priceless!

Garage Grown Gear has some awesome products! I like the folding bowls.
The folding bowls would be so rad!!
I love the idea of such a light jacket while backpacking. I’ll have to check them out.
So much fun watching you unbox and discover the goodies inside!! My favorite item is the Fozzil Snapfold bowl!
Congratulations on your own channel! I love GGG, so nice to see this video. I'm dying to check out that super lightweight hoodie!
Awesome unboxing. Really enjoyed the gear surprises. The foldable bowl is cool! Have not seen that before. Thanks for sharing!
The foldable bowl is awesome!
Love the new channel! Enlightened equipment jacket would be a great addition to my backpacking gear
Lots of good stuff. I like the dynema bags, the foldable bowl, and the pot grabber. It’s like kitchenware for hobbits.
Love Garage Grown Gear and would absolutely love that Enlightened Equipment Torrid APEX Jacket!
I like the idea of using folding bowls for sharing trail snacks with my kids.
I want the whole box! The far point hoodie would be amazing
I loved this video and I think that was a GREAT idea for Garage Grown Gear to send you that box. Although almost all the items were awesome, I think the bowls perked my interest the most. Brilliant!
Always love gear vids demonstrating little gear trinkets and making me do my best gollum impression. I like those pack flat bowls, very neat.
The plates have endless possibilities... fan? Mosquitoes smasher! Frisbee? So fun!
Awesome seeing small businesses. Jacket is the one I love.
Literally the bestest videos for backpacking on the internet. Those storage bags are legit
That folding bowl looks so handy!
Great unboxing. My daughter thinks the last item, the foldable plate/bowls are awesome 🤩
This video was so fun to watch! The EE jacket obviously would be amazing, but the snap bowl looks so functional!
Love that you can work with GGG now! I need to organize my pack and would love to use those Dyneema pouches.
Another great video. I’ve placed a few orders with Garage Grown Gear and their service and products are top notch! I’d love to add the EE Torrid jacket to my gear one day based on the weight and qualities of the synthetic materials. Keep the laughs and info coming.
Miranda is so genuinely fun. I would love to hike with you! But the next best thing would be some of those dyneema bags. I want them.
I love this unboxing of gear from small companies! I would absolutely love to be considered for that puffy jacket! My boyfriend and I recently lost a lot of our backpacking gear in a house fire so we are slowly building our gear back up!
That jacket is pretty sweet but I dig the origami plate thingy.
I’ve been looking at the FarPointe hoodie. I would love to see a separate video and comparison with similar products. Love GGG!
That light weight sweater-the blue one - looks so lovely!
This is awesome! I love supporting the cottage gear companies. I have been wanting to save up for a Torrid from Enlightened Equipment!
I'm not in the US. Sadly. But I'd love to have the CuloClean Bidet (btw, that actually just mean AssClean)
Keeping in line, the bathroom very realistic edit deserves an award, as well as the editors (and dog) behind the amazingly hilarious sound that made me repeat the same 5 seconds like 10 times, while I was trying to breathe when I was laughing. (Took me by surprise)
Please, you all keep being amazing, unique and original.
Priceless!
EE Torrid Apex!!
Love the collaboration with GGG, such a great way to support innovating companies.
