Hi May. I live in NW U.S. on Puget Sound. Spent much of my life fishing, therefore on boats. Some faster than others. We affectionately say that a boat is a hole in the water that you try to fill with CASH. No better life though. My ideal vacation would be to lease a narrow boat for a few weeks and see the sights at 3 knots. I've seen much of Puget Sound at 7 knots, and know that it is 10 hours from Bellingham, where I live, to Seattle on a 72 foot power scow with two 671 GMC diesels "screaming Jimmys", a nickname awarded due to the noise. I admire your grit! If I was 50 years younger...
Great vlog may I’ve done 40 pounds a week On coal 80 pounds on gas 6 months , 100 pounds on diesel but done about 100 miles this winter so yes the gas is expensive but nothing like house bills although coal Has gone up Twice this winter about 200 pounds on the bukh engine . Love your channel
Fab videos. I too am a MH Professional, yes the NHS is collapsing unfortunately :/ My daughter also worked for the NHS - gave it up - went to India to train as a Yoga Teacher (she was working on a busy ward in a London Hospital - she asked me how I stayed in the NHS for so many years as the stress for everyone was so high - my answer - 3 kids and a mortgage) so... there is more to life than paying the mortgage - she traveled around the world - taught Yoga - just had a baby and is still teaching with a newborn in a bouncy chair in the corner :) - anyway - lovely videos. You're fab!
Well done on your breakdown May, No wait that's sounds wrong but you know what I mean. It is if your well in track to owning your boat/home, and in this day and age not many people can say that. Boat cost are little victories, sometime there cheap sometimes there steep. But in the end who can really put a price on happiness and freedom.
I'm on my boat 24/7, and it's toasty, my seven bags of 25kg coal plus four boot bags logs are £212, I'm getting these every five weeks, so that's a huge difference.
I am going through a family brack up my self but I not bothered about any more I have been on my own for 20 years now it does boring but I just go out and just keep going
Thank you for another great video May and very informative too. :) two weeks from today my house will be on the market so I'm on the hard search for my perfect boat, thanks again, Brian.
@@wellbeingonwater I watched that too May and thought it was so interesting as you touched on so many points that others don't bother to mention, thank you so much, Brian.
I wish I was 20 years younger and had known about narrowboating. I would have done a boating holiday at least. I live in the US and basically " missed the boat".
Very good sound on the mic, and glad you expenses kept low thru winter. There should be plenty of wood along the canal, but just collect fallen or dead timber and you will be fine. You could fish out logs that are floating along maybe. Grappling hook will do it
I never use wet wood, it causes problems with chimney. Even if I spent all summer picking up wood I would have nowhere to store it, it needs to be 20% moisture content, so I buy my wood and keep it indoors, a delivery of four boot bags lasts five weeks and is about as much as I can store inside.
Insightful as ever. And I love your ingenuity in keeping your costs down. Starting worn on a canal barge here in France tomorrow. A chance to see how I like living on the water 🙂

Your boat might have an electric motor for propulsion, electric heat/cooking/hot water, your toilet might be an incinerating type. Currently, there is 1 micron water device that takes moisture from the air. This device uses ~700w of power and returns 20 liters of pure water per day!!! This means that your 500 Pounds/month turns into ~200 Pounds/month after NESARA/GESARA. This is happening right before our eyes RIGHT NOW!!! Hold tight and pray...
