    Curly magic and Curlmix are a great pairing when you want greater hold than Curlmix gels. I've been trying curly magic first lately as well. I think this will be my process for fall/winter.

    Curly Magic is my absolute FAVORITE gel and is my base for every single wash and go! If I watch someone’s video and they use Curly Magic, I know that I can trust their opinion LOL. I have never put a moisturizer on top of the gel (I usually use a heavier gel to top it), but I will give this combo a try. Thanks for sharing!

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shhh, don't call it a gel, lol. I don't think of it as a gel because it is super moisturizing and the hold is more significant when applied directly on the hair without a creamy leave in beneath it. Keep me posted on your results.

      Thank you lovely 💕💕💕 yes give this combination a try and remember I tried it out a couple times before I got it the way I wanted it. Remember when I added more water and more curly magic when I felt like it wasn’t weighing my hair down enough? Just make sure you get a good feel of the product on your hair and if it doesn’t work the first time given another try with what you’ve learned from the previous experience.

    Thanks again Abena for another great demo video! I used Curly Magic styling gel for the very first time recently and liked the curl definition it gave my hair but, I still got frizzy roots! The method I used after freshly washed hair was to first use a leave-in detangler followed by Curly Magic for curl definition. I air-dried my hair and noticed the very frizzy roots with defined curls. I will instead give your method a try and begin with Curly Magic applied to sopping-wet hair followed by moisturizer (I use Black Vanilla Combing Creme by Carol's Daughter for very soft results). I'll report back with the results of applying the method you demonstrate on this video. Can't wait to give it a go! Thanks again!! MsECstreet :)

      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're welcome. Remember to lay those roots before it dries. You saw how I had to re-wet my roots and apply more curly magic during the second step to avoid puffy roots. Keep me posted!

    I have tried both separately recently. I have low porosity hair and I don’t think my hair likes aloe vera because I didn’t get any curl definition with the Curly Magic, just frizz. The Curl Mix avocado conditioner is so moisturizing it’s a great line.

      Since you have access to both products see what happens when you try the method I used in this video. Be sure to start out with freshly washed hair so you do not have product buildup blocking penetration of the moisture from Curly Magic.

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@MyeshaB I got the idea through professional training for licensed cosmetologists that focuses on ingredients as well as other factors that impact natural hair. When you review the ingredients in Curly Magic you see the value of having it serve as the first layer to moisturize the hair. I do not view it as a gel, even though the label reads "Flex Your Curl Muscle Naturally With Our Aloe-Based, Firm Hold Curl Enhancing Gel." I view it as a moisurizer with great clumping capabilities. The aloe is a humectant that draws moisture from the environment to it so it continues to moisturize your hair. When you add the Curlmix moisturizer on top it serves as a source of moisture that Curly Magic is drawing to your hair. And the Curlmix moisturizer adds shine as well. The first time I tried it I did not use enough Curly Magic so the results were not as good. But the way I applied the product in the video yielded excellent results. So I was happy to share it with all of you. More experimenting to come!

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      My hair is completely wrapped in a scarf when I run. I keep it wrapped until after I shower and get dressed. The purpose for wrapping it is to keep it from getting sweaty or wet from touching my skin. As long as it doesn’t touch my skin it doesn’t get wet. The scarf gets wet from contact with my forehead and my neck. I will try to post a picture in my next video if I get a chance.

    Hey Abena, I absolutely love your videos! I was wondering why you don't use any oils in your hair? Also, do you style one section of your hair and then rinse the conditioner out of other section right before styling, or do you rinse all of the conditioner out and then style the whole head?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Oils are already included in the formulation of the products used for conditioning and styling. There’s no need for a separate layer of oil. I rinsed the conditioner from the right side first. Applied the curly magic. Put it twists for later then did the same thing on the left side. I take shower and get dressed before styling. So there is 30 to 45 minutes in between the first layer of product and the second layer for the final style.

    Hi. I've followed you for a while and have always been a little confused about your low porosity section. I had heard that one of the key ways of distinguishing b/t lp and hp hair was that lp hair tends to have more shine and appear more moisturized than hp hair b/c of the tightly closed cuticles, yet your lp hair is just the opposite. Is the notion that lp hair appears more shiny and moisturized than hp hair just a generalization?
    Also, would love to know your thoughts about the new Wetline Extreme gel that has sodium hydroxide as the 2nd ingredient. Should I be concerned about this ingredient which is the main ingredient in relaxers?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It must be a generalization and one that sounds conceptual rather than actual. As you can see my hairs in my low po section appear duller and are drier than the rest of my hairs. Do you have Low Porosity hair or are you still trying to figure it out?

    • @EmbraceNaturalBeauty
      @EmbraceNaturalBeauty  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You will notice that I only share recommendations for products I feel comfortable putting on my own hair and that of my clientele. The new Wet Line Xtreme is not in the line up of products I intend to showcase during this series. I was not aware that they introduced a new gel containing sodium hydroxide. I don't believe it would have the potency of a relaxer, which would render it ineffective as a gel. However, it does not fit the criteria of products I am considering for myself, my clients or anyone watching my current videos. I hope that helps!
