Very interesting! We can always by fashion but style you have to have born with it. I know people who wears very expensive fashionable clothes but they don't shine. If a person have inner sparkle anything looks fabulous. Style is so personal as perfumes. We can dress 50 people with the same uniform but even then some shine some don't. Style is only possible when someone lives in her/his/it self. Thank you for bringing this topic to we can share ideas. ❤️
Im definitely very conflicted on this topic ..one im plus size & Im geographically isolated so choice of clothing can be limited ..i also love fast fashion ( especially for dresses/ street wear ) Once I have worn an outfit more than 10 or 12 times, then i get bored and wants something new ... especially clothing I wear to clubs or events, i feal like ive been seen in those outfits a million times ..i say every 2 yrs i completely change my entire wardrobe...not shure if its a "city thing" or i just get board easily 😒 when it comes to shoes / bags / jewellery I'll have them forever & those items I'm more willing to spend more money on ...Same with skin care / makeup / hair care , i will drop serious coin on 🤣
Love your differentiation between fashion and style. As someone who loves a gothic aesthetic, I immediately related to this because fashion victim vs. personal style is very powerful and real. I'm reminded of Junya Wantanabe's Comme de Garcons 2015/16 Fall/Winter collection. Dacob, the uniqueness of the cut, flow, shapes of the capes (as an example) was profoundly inspiring to me. That collection was Avant Garde enough to give me goosebumps, but wearable enough to be able to transcend the limitations of use-by-date that Fashion trends often present. I mostly agree with your statement that Fashion is a scam - the entire business model swindles devotees out of their $ while promoting a certain aesthetic that is easily marketable to those willing to purchase it. I guess even Avant Garde designers like the more "out there" designers also fit into this box. But creatively, I see the difference between fashion and style so clearly...especially when it comes to an edgy aesthetic. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this topic, Dacob!
I'm always impressed with people who find their own style and carry it off. I live somewhere where you can't really purchase any clothes locally and ordering them from abroad is expensive (customs, duty etc), so it's always been hard to achieve anything but the most basic style.
Dang, I missed this delicious discussion in the livestream. Letty always asks the thought provoking questions. 💖 Yes, Dacob!! I totally agree with you. I’ve always thought of ‘fashion’ as the actual consumption of the tangible item, as you say, the ‘collectible.’
I've been wearing the same polka-dot cardigans for 10+ years 😂 I don't follow fashions I only buy what I am personally drawn towards. I guess it's the artist in me.
I don't think fashion exists anymore. Lestat in the Anne Rice novels noted everything is recycled. Even our old sayings are naval ones e.g. the coast is clear. Influencers saying 'personal style' annoy me because they all look alike and wouldn't be seen dead in it a year later. Would you wear it 5 years from now?
''What is sustainable is style. Only style is sustainable. Your style is sustainable.'' Fashion is temporary.
I agree 💯%
You’re so deep Dacob, I always learn something new. 😍😍
Thank you Luv me Love 🙏🏻🥰😘🌈

Thank you so much Ana!
we have those sociopathic channels with the tom cruise smile and dead eyes pretending to teach charisma but you can't lol
This is very true!

Me and my professors again…. One of those used to say “Chanel didn’t sell fashion, she sold style, that never gos out of fashion”
Coco said in "the allure of CHANEL" that fashion needs to die and die soon in order for the commerce of fashion to survive.
@@SuperDacob Allure is one of my favorites perfumes of the brand 😎
Wow. I never thought about it like that. Very well said.

Thats not their personal style for the most part. Unless, of course, their personal style is lack thereof. ...
You you!!!!!D, thank you, l love jumpsuit now I feel better you just told me that’s my style😂living for it”💕
I love how you so easily describe the essence of fashion and style. "A uniform that doesn't look good on most people" 🤣
Haha! It is what it is ;)
Thank you, Dacob! .. Trend *vs* Fashion, How would you describe the difference?
You are correct
Thank you Andrea 🙏🏻😘🥰💖🌈
