Good to see you in another superb video. Wife and I had the pleasure to meet you at Southwick lake a couple of summers ago. I used to fish the Wallington as a child and never caught a "gonk" though crucians and perch were common back in the 60,s.

How wonderful, lovely you could drop in. Crucians in the Wally, wow imagine that. Thanks for watching.

I remember the biggest crucian we managed to catch just inside the Dryad boundary was 2 1/2 lbs of golden disc and the pool just up river from where you filmed the video had plenty of them in it. In the 50's the record crucian came from Dryad lake that is now Southwick park in those days it was also full of wildies which are even rarer now than crucians. These days we have to go to Milford to catch Crucians. I am 72 now yet still love fishing.@@thesweetcornkid266

I absolutely love small river fishing. Would rather spend a day in the nettles and undergrowth catching a few different species than sit behind carp rods any day . Great video and thoroughly enjoyed .

I'm with you. I love all sorts of fishing, but the trips that take me back to my childhood are the really special ones. 😎

Go for it! It's a wonderful way of angling. EBay usually throws up a few old fashioned rods. Thanks for watching.

It's a bit tricky. Avoid Hardy, Olivers, Chapmans and Allcocks...You could make an expensive mistake, Sealey or Marco might be a better, safer buy. Also look out for unnamed rods. Back in the day tackle shops used to sell kits for anglers to make their own to save money, they can be decent and cheap as there is no name on them so a good starter rod.

You can get some bargain vintage tackle at Romsey and Redditch tackle fairs... Better prices usually than the bay of temptation

Thanks Stu, that was brilliant, and great to see the "old" tackle out again. Can you get day tickets for the wallinton?

I'm not sure buddy, I'll enquire. Pretty sure I can get a guest ticket, so leave it with me. 👍

Very nice. Is that a ten ft chapman by any chance? A 500?

Very similar, it's a cut and shut I created from an old fly rod tip and a float rod butt. They fitted together and made a perfect little River rod.
