She was doing the same thing I do, especially when I'm tired. Letting our wrists continue to bend after the release instead of reaching out like you're shaking hands with the basket. Once you let that wrist break beyond the straight line the putter goes right.
I think Evelinas putting woes are purely psychological. She can hit bullseye on 500ft hole - that is way harder then putting. She needs to overcome her putting fear from close range and there will be no stopping her. There is no one in FPO who can trow better and more precise then her. If she fixes her putting - she is right up there with Paige Pierce and Kristin Tattar.
Yeah, it's definitely in her head. Hopefully, she gets it figured out she is one of my favorite players to watch. I just started playing disc golf about 2 and a half years ago and putting is my strong suit. One thing I do that helps I try to focus all of my energy going from my disc to the center of the basket. I also practiced putting for hours the first year I started playing.

The day after her final round in 2022, she should have been working with a putting coach 4 hours a day until Vegas 2023 and then come out and shredded the competition. If she couldn't afford someone, I'm positive Innova would of assisted and found someone. She could of pinged one of these form coach type guys on TH-cam and given them some fascinating content for 3 months as they worked with her each day, reinventing it from the ground up, they would of probably done it for free as it would be killer content. Yes, she still has brain farts when putting. I stated last season when she was long driving, up shots into the circle and whiffs a couple times for 3 putts. Could have taken down half a dozen early tournaments easy, if she focused. I said she needed a putting coach last season. Nice of Paul to step up and help. Sorry no. "Yips" is uncontrolled nervousness. It is not a medical issue. It is a mental toughness and focus centering issue. 30 years ago I coached. I saw this time and time again. She needs to mentally set herself and focus. There are many ways to do this. Different ways for different people. She needs guidance to calm those nerves, sharpen her focus. No nervousness, no pressure and she's fine. She has to learn how to handle pressure, especially if she's putting it on herself.

She just needs to put her weight on the back foot. Puting weight on the front foot makes you miss to the right because your arm opens up, there's no hip action and your arm basically swings outwards. But if you put your weight on your back foot like completely, and shift your weight from back to front as you release the disc it will become easier because you are using your entire body and your shoulder won't swing and miss to the right.
These are alleged professionals. It's unbelievably bad putting at that level. The fact she can stay in the field with the rest speaks more about them than her.
Most of these women are not professional athletes just yet. The field is still too small and there hasn’t been enough time to develop the few pro women disc golfers. There are only a few consistently at the top who I’d call that. It’s going to be a rude awakening for most of the field in a few years when all the youngins pass them up and they can no longer even cash at events. There are a lot on tour right now who have 0 chance of ever winning a tournament based on the deficiencies in their game. I am not really sure if they’re out there just for fun or think they can make a living of this for the future.

Reason she miss is her follow through. After release her hand barely ever point into basket. In this clip hand is way above basket so if that putt line doesn't lead into basket and rely only point when released there is much bigger opportunity to miss.
I was working, on lunch break watching this live, I was finished with my meal and watched the missed bogey putt followed by the missed DB landings 6 feet away from the pin. I thought "damn, that was a terrible triple bogey" as I turned off my phone and went back to work. Never rewatched the coverage, and damn. That is just awful. I can recall Katrina missing one or two putts with her bag on. That does compare to this at all.
It's a vicious cycle of history and yips. Whenever she misses one of these, she focuses on preventing the spiral instead of making the putt and shanks it. Nice of Paul to help, but she needs a sports psychologist more than a putting coach.
I watched her last year miss every single putt pretty much. She made a few hyzer 20-30 feet putts. But like 10 feet and it's a miss. It was insane. I hope she can find it in her to just grind 500 putts every day for atleast the entire season. Because she is so behind on putting that amateurs beat her on it.
Ev said that she has not thrown a single putt outdoors in four months. She has practiced in an indoor facility and with zero wind so the moment she got put into vegas and waco she was already doomed. Still, this is sort of extra bad. The 8 year olds at our putting league don't make these mistakes

She is likely seriously doubting herself and this is why she is “yipping” The opposite of that is the zone or a flow state where her mind would be so focused on hitting her target she would be seeing through it and her body would unconsciously be performing her spin putt perfectly. She would not be thinking of anything except what she is trying to accomplish.

At least you could have labeled the video in a more positive way like " It is not always easy " or something... I'm sorry but if that's your take-away from this video you've got a very strange mindset. In no way do I make fun of her or discourage her in any way in this video but simply states that the putting is horrible, that I feel really bad for her because of that AND that it's great that she's getting tips from Paul to hopefully improve her putting moving forward, considering how good she is at all other aspects of the game. This kind of reporting happens on literally all professional athletes in all other sports and I don't see the problem with it as long as you don't mock the person in question or otherwise discourage her to play. There are a few not so nice comments on some videos/Reddit etc and I can't speak for those but the majority just wants to see her get her putting together and be a top contender and I'm pretty sure she knows that. People like content covering highlights that show both the good, bad & unusual in the sport and I think professional athletes in any sports are fully aware of that.

Truth - totally agree. It’s embarrasing for her - but perhaps more embarrassing for the other pros on her card that shoot a worse round overall.
