SolidWorks: Using Geomagic Design X and a Scanned Mesh to Create a Part (Section 6)

This video shows the basics of creating a SolidWorks part from a scanners scanned mesh data file of a scanned part using Geomagic Design X (you can download a trial period of the software to try out) and was part of an assignment I created for students so this is technically going over the assignment. Scanners for scanning parts and assemblies are useful to create mesh surfaces of a part but doesn't translate directly into a parametric part or model thus you need tools to build that parametric model. SolidWorks (I believe 2019 and newer) do have an add in called ScanTo3D that does basic interpretation of mesh data but using specialized programs like Geomagic Design X proves to have the tools you really need to make parametric models from mesh data.
