86 toyota truck has a fender detail like that. Fun fact, the small jump seats in these small trucks was a direct response to a large tariff placed on any vehicle "designed to seat 2 people with a large separate cargo area". So the foreign designers would add those little extra cabs and small jump seats to avoid the extra tariff on "trucks". Those seats were never intended to be practical or functional but everyone liked the extra space inside the cab.

After filming wrapped on Part 3, the truck was sold, and was later stolen and used by a drug cartel to smuggle drugs across the Mexican border. At some point during all this, it was painted orange. Later, it was found by dedicated Back to the Future fans, restored to its original movie specs, and sold for around $80,000. It is now privately owned by father and son Bill and Patrick Shea, who also own a screen-used DeLorean and a lot of other authentic BTTF items.
The front fender profile is a real flub (you can’t unsee it). I love the “Skittles” colors on 84-88 Yotas, my ‘84 is yellow but would’ve looked cool in skittle green or M&M blue.
You never said why you thought they intended for it to be unpainted. It appears to be painted in the ads. I wish I had a good camera like you use. Quality Shows. Maybe I'll have to sell a couple rigs ...... Nah!!

Great looking truck! Great job, and great review. Question though: Isn't the TRD offroad stuff too new for this ride? It debuted in 1998. The skidplate is awesome, but it distracts from the 1980s look a bit if you want to get super era appropriate.

I really like it on the IFS chassis, as there are still tons of them still driving around. And the scale look far outweighs some people's imagined IFS problems. The color looks more like a creamcicle than magma though...

I feel like "scale accuracy" is kinda a relative term. For example, the stock truck is IFS. But here in Colorado for example, about 70% of the IFS Yotas you see on the trails aren't IFS anymore. Most people just solid axle swap them 👍
Thought of using actual textured bed liner spray in the bed area? i have used it on the inner fenders as well as the bed of harbody rc vehicles and it gives that rhino lining like texture to it

It's a 12.3" wheelbase. No need to stretch the Axial chassis' wheelbase. You won't be able to fit the interior over the transmission as it sits stock though. Way bigger than a Clod Buster. This body is 9th scale or thereabouts.
How was your experience with the hood fit and latch? My magnetic latch doesn't seem to do anything on mine. Love the body though, I have a 1:1 87 xtra cab so I've been drooling over these for a month now
Well, injection molding isn't cheap, plus, you get a full, high detail interior, opening doors, hood, tailgate, etc. Not so expensive when you consider the feature set.
You'd likely have to remove the interior for the Axial 10II chassis. Mounting will be your biggest challenge, although there are some aftermarket solutions. You'll have to use the Google machine.
This looks fantastic. I completely agree about the front fenders. I owned this truck in real life and I can’t get past that. Michaelplatypuss on insta did a 4Runner and did a great job fixing that error and a few others

Seems to be pretty decent. I put all of it together before I painted, maybe that had something to do with it?
