James is really pushing it and I gotta respect the effort, age really affects your vocal quality and this feels like a song that would sound really bad if James's voice isn't in good shape. Look at Geddy Lee from Rush close to their "retirement" all their high pitched vocal parts started to sound really strainy and it sometimes makes me a little uncomfortable, so they called it quits just in time.
please react to Metalshock by Flotsam and Jetsam (Jason newsted's former band also bassist in this song) . as a bassist i strongly believe that you gonna love middle part of the song
later in the video I actually checked their ages, James will be 60 in August 2023, Kirk recently turned 60 in November 2022, Lars will turn 60 in December 2023 and Robert will be 60 in 2024, they may not all be 60 right now but 3 out of the 4 will soon be!
Lux Æterna sounds like the most generic mainstream hillbilly rock I've ever heard. Can't believe people are digging it, a real crowd pleaser apparently.
I'm going to be straight with you, I'm mostly just appreciative they're still doing this, hell if I were them I would've retired from the music industry already, they're sitting on a cash cow by just their brand alone, I mostly did this because it's been 9 years without new music and I was curious what it was going to sound like, was I surprised with the song? Not really, am I listening to this song on a loop? Not at all, it's a one and done for me, but like I said in the video, mad respects to them for just keeping the Metallica train going, I probably will check out the album but I don't expect to be blown away at all.... Metallica's best albums are from the 80s decade, and the black album but after that? 50/50 split
@@BMR86 yeah i also checked it out, and it was nice to see them in the video, the guys are legends obviously, and I appreciate the effort.. But at the same time, I believe they could make something better, and it seems like they are not even trying.. I'm not asking for harder or faster, or more brutal. I'm asking for a less generic better composition, a meaningful song, or whatever. Something like a "fade to black" "one" "unforgiven" "nothing else matters" "Orion" "for whom the bells toll" caliber. Those kind of songs are the essence of Metallica to me.
They played it live recently and posted on their official YT channel, I was nervous for him but he sounded perfect! They all did really!

Thank you for the suggestion! I will check it out!
I don’t think any of them are in their 60s yet. I believe Kirk is the oldest and will not be 60 until February
And I think Lars and Robert are 58 yet
