    I would be interested in seeing how you have the generator setup to your house. Nice video!

    Is the cord you bought directly from Champion? Also, do you know if this generator has full copper windings and is the THD at/below 5 percent? Thanks and great review!

      I purchased my cord and interlock kit from geninterlock.com
      This model does has full copper windings. The THD listed from Champion states 12-20% THD, depending on the load. The only way I could see to achieve 5% or less would be with one of their inverter generators.

      I doubt it not being an Inverter.

      @@austinharrington1248 WOW 😱😳 The THD is 12- 20 %... that's way too high for Sensitive electronics appliances like Central Heating and cooling system...

    Arggg,, you didn't show filling the oil. I got the 10000/8000 today, dual fuel, and it too came with oil. A plain black bottle from VietNam of 10w30. Is that what you got? Did you use it? And use the whole bottle for 40.6 oz or some 1.2qt? I assume Champion would send quality oil- or would they assuming it was getting changed in 5 hours? I'm enjoying your video and the efi is interesting .

      I did use the included oil from Champion for the break-in period. The oil provided I have no knowledge on, but assume it is quality, coming from Champion. These generators can use various weights/synthetic or non-synthetic. I opted to switch to a 5W-30 full synthetic after I completed the break-in.

    When you varied the load did you run everything simultaneously or did you power one thing, turn it off and then run another?

      During break-in I made sure to change it up throughout the period. When I was adding to the load I didn’t turn everything off every time. Just varied it throughout the 5 hour period

    Does this thing make pretty clean sine wave power?

    well over 100 decibels...
    140 is the threshold of pain. I don't think you meant that. Nice review of the generator.

    Do I need to change the oil filter when changing the oil? My unit is new as well. Thanks!

    I only use Ethanol free gas on all my power yard equipment and 15000W gen. Regular gas was fouling my plugs even after six months of storage with Stabil.

    Does the generator have a floating neutral? I believe you need that for house back up.

    • @austinharrington1248
      @austinharrington1248  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This generator comes from Champion with a bonded neutral. You are correct though. If I was plugging in my appliances directly to the GFCI outlets on the generator, I would want it to be a bonded neutral. In my case, I installed a power inlet box and ran it to a circuit breaker with a interlock kit at my main disconnect below the meter. Champion provides a “how to” video if you wish to change your bonded to a floating neutral. Only took me about 5 minutes.

    You need to understand that the typical non-inverter generator puts out a total harmonic distortion (THD) in the 10-25% range. Conversely, inverter generators typically put out less than 3% THD. So, if want to run a high efficency (read computer driven) furnace, tankless hot water heater, smart TV, computer or UPS, 10-25% THD from a non-inverter generator can reak havoc and sometimes even damage the computer controls of your high efficency furnace or computer driven devices. So, if you want to run sensitive electronics, be sure to get an inverter-generator.

      I used the same generator in the video for 3 days straight, it ran my computers, server rack, etc just fine.

    I didn’t see a fuel turn-off valve. Is there one?

    • @austinharrington1248
      @austinharrington1248  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Eric. This EFI model does not have a fuel turn-off valve or choke like a traditional carburetor generator.

    When refueling the generator, does the generator need to be turned off when refueling? Or can it be refueled during operation?

    • @austinharrington1248
      @austinharrington1248  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Per Champion’s Manual, turn the generator off and let cool for at least two minutes before removing the gasoline cap. Always loosen the cap slowly to relieve pressure in the tank.
