Christ tells us to gather “so much the more, as you see the day approaching”… not less. Those who know Him want to please Him and serve Him. Do you know Him? It’s getting late… not much time left.
Doing more what exactly? Nearly half the sermon was all about how churches in America are doing less things that churches used to do in the 1960s. Not having hymnals, Sunday night services, Wednesday Night, invitations while singing 'Just As I Am,' etc., is not a sign of backsliding. We have none of that in my local church, but that doesn't mean we're cold and backslidden. But, "we preach Christ and Him crucified," and over 60 people have just received Christ at our church recently, and 35 of them were baptized. Never make the mistake of confusing method with doctrine, which IFBs seem to make all the time. None of methods Pastor Trieber were even practiced by the apostles. What we need to do more of are local and world Missions, Evangelism and Discipleship.
Just because a church has no Sunday night service does not mean it's corrupted. This kind of preaching isn't doctrinal, it's methodical. Not all churches have choir, or invitation, or hymnals, or Sunday night service or Wednesday night prayer. Being a Bible-believing Christian or even Baptist is not boxed in those American religious inventions. Even Sunday school wasn't invented until the 1750s by an Anglican. This person is confusing methods with biblical doctrine.
