They were never under the radar. The Apollo ( Glasgow ) in '81 was probably one of the most seminal nights of my life. Thousands of people dancing their arses off and singing every lyric. Mr. McCulloch was on the verge of tears. A night I'll never forget.

Ian,Will,Les & Pete are the Bunnymen, anything else just doesn’t cut the mustard.

Mac always gives Porcupine shit but I think it’s their best album

I agree, my favourite album of all time. Ocean Rain was the worst of the first four albums, in my opinion

It took me so long to fall in love with these guys for real. I always knew I should like them because of my taste but that spark never happened for me until very recently. They made me work so hard for the fandom these guys but when you finally get there and appreciate them. the rewards are well well worth it. I always expected them to sound different to how they do, but then you realise they like only a handful of other bands are really a genre onto themselves.

I'm the opposite, by '85 I had already moved on.

After years of trying to be everything I wasn't. I have found just enough here to be myself. Wish I'd known that 26 years ago. lol Then I would've missed growing all weird and twisty though. lol Mac is right. Like a big brother you finally grew to understand, and wish you could have earlier.

Nice to see Mac admit what I knew back then ... by the time Lips Like Sugar came out it was over! They were churning out crap ... Ocean Rain is where it ended. It didn't get back on track until Evergreen, but even then ... something was missing.

Will lost some creative control at that point. Electrafixion is much better than the later Bunnymen imo

One of the top 5 bands of the 80's. Heaven Up Here is a top 10 LP of ALL time. Their Korova label mates The Sound were underrated.RIP Adrian Borland. I just listened to Will's solo 1983 Themes For Grind. Ian has always been confident. Great Band. B-side "Broke My Neck" is my favorite track.

Classic Ian and even Will got a word in as well :) Great to see some old footage of the original and best lineup with Les and Pete. Not only the best band to ever come out of Liverpool but maybe the entire universe.

Ian slurring his words looks like a drunken evil spirit in this interview. Such a shame he doesn't take care of himself at his age. Loved his music tho. Apart from Jagger they all age badly don't they..

Heya, it's either from the House of Blues (1999) or Astoria (also 1999) - it's somewhere around the 2000s because of Ian's vocals. Hope this helps! X

The same shit "we are/were the best band ever in the world" etc. Also "I'm the best looking guy in the world" etc. etc. Same attitude as Liam Gallagher. I like their music but this actually puts me off.

Well yeah, but really what he said was "the best looking GROUP in the world".

    • @maryburke5423
      @maryburke5423 ปีที่แล้ว +1

There’s 80s context you may not get there. He does say ‘best looking group’ and UK in the 80s there were so many new bands, so many new looks and a phenomenon referred to as ‘the style wars’ by magazines like The Face and I-D.
Not the same as todays individualistic narcissism.
Does Mac have a giant ego…of course, but context is important.

Marr and Morrissey aren't from Liverpool? You don't know the difference between Manchester /Davyhulme /Ardwick and Liverpool?
