The fact that some college kids managed to make a better live action Minecraft film with a small budget than a billion dollar film company really says something
Just did the math on about how old these two were when Mincecraft came out. It's one of my favorite games of all time, and I didn't even grow up with it.
Bro, the movie one is more accurate because it’s made out of grass like the lore-wise creeper 💀 It’s literally the same thing but with leaves instead of grass here. (I love both movies tho)
This is a better mini film than a randos getting isekaid by a portal It's actually tell the love story of alex and steve as they are the 2 original skin that exist. I'll take this anyday than the uncanny 15 mil movie.
Nah that sound like a no friend type of experience. Minecraft to me has always been full of loud chaos with people constantly talking, panicking, and getting hype over things. It's a fun game to experience with the homies. If your minecraft is a quiet experience with no one talking, i suggest try finding like a minecraft community server to make friends and play with. This comment weren't made to be rude btw. But i figure it might sound kinda rude.
Legit most realistic since for anyone whose worked with paintings before. Bro even sighed after Alex put the glass and door and he still couldn’t find a good painting
Frrr I noticed that too like the fact that she went and fully furnished the house and added windows before he was done with his one painting is so accurate
And I love him representing the desire that every Minecraft player shares: the sunrise painting, so beautiful, so perfect, leaving all the other paintings in the dust 💀
It made me laugh because I've done exactly that! Not that painting, not that painting, ew, yuck, wtf is that, not that painting, nope, nope, ohh damn I skipped it, nope, nope, yesss! I like that one!

They punched a tree to get wood and didn't even say any "Ehrm, why is it floating" jokes like you just know the Minecraft movie would do, already significantly better
I like that it’s live action, keeps a consistent “live-action” style with the cgi, and it’s played off that these characters are the same Steve and Alex that were spawned to inhabit the world in-game. Plus they don’t talk, it feels way more authentic with just sounds and grunts. No idea what the Minecraft movie’s plot is, but from the trailer it seems it’s just the ‘human gets trapped inside the game and somehow has to return home’ trope. TL;DR: Live action works better when it’s a consistent style, and feels authentic. 11/10
I now think the "It should have been animated" view can actually be tested with something like this. Not with big companies of course, if they dont make it animated they dont make it watchable
This is just beautiful. A true work of art and love for the game and their fans. Imagine what would they do with a Hollywood-level budget. Companies should just look for actual fans with actual skills and love for the title instead of random "high end Hollywood directors". I hope you guys release a part 2 and continue the series! 🐺🧟♂️💀🕷
I feel like part of what makes this better than the new movie is that the people making this actually know what minecraft is, and are also keeping a very consistent style.

I am going to tell my kids this was THE Minecraft movie
faça isso por que se você falar que foi o filme original é possível eles pegarem cancer de olho, virarem um gato de porcelana e sairem voando pela sua janela e gritarem, MAMA MIA. este comentário não tem intenção de fazer sentido.
This was like playing Minecraft for the first time; you captured that sense of wonder and comfort and danger as well. I loved every second of it. Steve and Alex were both wonderful, the score was amazing and the special effects were incredible. I hope this project gets the attention it deserves. It's absolutely phenomenal what you've made here.
Yup You always start out as a little baby with nothing in the world, but then after a long time; You'll have full enchanted Netherite armor and maybe tools! Similar to BoTW or ToTK! (I mean every game you start with nothing...)
I'll take your word for it, cuz i haven't even seen it and I suspect just by the news of Jack B. that it's awful. I would rather choose this to be a mini-series!
this was everything younger me wanted in a minecraft "real life" film. absolutely astonishing. i want the recipe/mob book so badly! it was made so well and fit the minecraft vibe so good!
I remember watching "minecraft in real life!!1" youtube videos a lot, in like 2012 (I was 9 or 10). I was even thinking of trying to make one myself (I was 10 at a time), so good I didn't XD The one I still remember was short series, on what if Minecraft was in real life AND in the realies of rural Russia (which, well, is where I am from). It was so bad and nonsense it actully was good, in a way it were making me laugh all my ass off way back then... like, dude was just walking with a camera and right hand bent in elbow (to make it look like a Steve hand from first person view). And in the last episode (there were only 3) he was collecting beer cans to "smelt" them into ingots and make some armor.
I really like the fact that this short implies that the message "you can't sleep there are monsters nearby" doesn't mean "it's too dangerous" but instead it means "go outside, you are too exited"
That was extremely well done. The balance between realism and stylization was pretty much perfect. The visuals looked real but just cartoony enough to keep the game's feel. The CGI was surprisingly good (even Hollywood often can't do it right). The only thing that was off about this was the odd tension that looked like Alex and Steve were going to breed every other shot.
seriously tho litreally everytime they looked at each other the tension was through the roof espicially at the last scene where i actually thought were gonna kiss or smh
I came with low expectations for a low budget fan film. I was greeted by something with a better storyline as an adaptation than almost every modern video game movie
The CGI, the sets, the props, the music, the acting, the everything! I loved the orchestral renditions of Minecraft’s soundtrack, the beautifully made sets, the props, the mobs, even the furry creeper from the trailer is here!
From one film-maker to another, this is incredible! The CGI, the sound effects, the props, the sets, the mobs, the Minecraft vibe! There has got to be a sequel!
This is amazing. Even the detail from 3D model mobs, to the players communicating with just their bodies like the original, involving the custom and soothing Minecraft remixes, this should win the best Oscar award for the best Minecraft fan film ever!
I appreciate the lack of words. The film relies on body language, facial ques and an understanding of the game mechanics to tell its story.. along with the occiasional "hmmmm" for good measure
This is a masterpiece. It captures everything players love about Minecraft: the feeling of arriving home after a long night, taming a dog, etc. Also the acting, CGI, and music are perfect.
Just came here from PhoenixSC, and this is incredible! So much emotion is being conveyed through actions and body language, and the sense of accomplishment one gets from building their first house, not to mention defeating their first mob, making a four legged friend, and doing it with a friend comes through so well its making me feel like I'm playing the game for the first time again.
@@KTSMORI Well, it wasn't made professionaly and it was made by fans so I think the term is justified. Though I do agree that it feels too good to be called that.
Alex definitely is a show-stealer. She's so pretty omg. And the quality man... it's so good I can't imagine the overlapping work like editing, modelling, rendering and all in the state of fan made. It's already better than that one trailer came out not long ago
This is SO INCREDIBLY well made! The VFX used on top of the custom score just perfectly nails that sort of RTX Minecraft look while giving it the nolstalgic feeling of the original game. I would love to see a video detailing how it was made
Okay, a few thoughts: 1. This is soo wonderful! How the heck is this not viewed by many people? 2. The quality of this production is criminally underrated.
Well, it's only been two weeks and it's already at 50k views, which is really good considering that this channel has no other videos, so of course the algorithm won't like it, although give it some time and I'm sure that with the dedicated community that minecraft has, it will reach at least a few hundred thousand views by the end of the year, and over time can easily reach the million. Mark my words
Honestly, this is far superior to that fluffed up cotton candy monstrosity that Hellyweird has in the works. Give these peeps a much bigger budget & lets see what they could do, Mojang
As far as I'm concerned, this is the real Minecraft movie. But I'm an adult who's been playing Minecraft forever and can appreciate things like this. This short film here is a work of art.
As someone in the video production field from Ohio, I can confirm this is easily some of the best work I have ever seen on a local level, seriously. Whoever did the compositing side of things is also absolutely fantastic and i'd love to learn from them personally. All I can say is every single person involved should be so, so proud of themselves for what this is.
The sound score that is perfectly aligned with every second of the action on the screen is truly breathtaking... and the way "some friends from college" is an entire symphony orchestra 🎉 I would love to see a video concert of the orchestra playing the score!
Sadly, this vision is much closer to a true Dark Fantasy world than the kid-friendly movie we ended up with. It’s such a waste of potential. They forgot that the core Minecraft community isn’t Gen Z, but the older generation that grew up with the legend of Herobrine and felt genuine fear about mining alone. A missed opportunity to tap into the deeper, more haunting side of Minecraft’s legacy.
Insanely good! This should be a lot bigger than it is, can you make a behind the scenes video? I'm also wondering if there will be a sequel as it does leave open the possibility.
I would love to see this as a series, or a full length movie. Discovering villagers/pillagers, traveling to the different biomes, the nether, the end cities, the deep dark/ancient cities!!! So well done, bravo to everyone involved.
That would be real hard bc you would have to find real like places like that that resembled it and I don’t think things like that exist irl even a little besides well Acuall hell but that’s unrecordable and I hope nobody ever goes there but that’s the unfortunate truth of life
The choose to make this film about the first day and then make it about 20 minutes is amazing. I love it. And the fact that they don’t say anything just like how you would expect in Minecraft makes this so much more fun to watch. The props are cool too. I love that this was just about finding a cave and fighting an enderman as that’s what people might do their first day and night. I also loved that this was about Steve and Alex instead of those new characters they added recently. Everything about this feels so nice to watch. No unnecessary unfunny jokes, and everything feels well planned out. I love this so much. I already want a sequel lol
This is astonishing. I absolutely ADOREEE the minor details snuck in there. Like how Steve fixing the painting, Alex thinking before giving the bone to the dog and just how natural the transition scenes are! You can also see the original personalities given by Mojang. (Alex’s eyes getting excited and Steve’s becoming cautious when they were flipping through the book) These details are what make it feel sorta official!
@@LynxGamerDa2 But not everything is real, they credidet Blender for VFX. But everything looks so real, that it is hard to figure out if they did it irl or with VFX. The roof and walls from 4:44 for example, it is totally possible to make that irl, but the final house doesn't use those so it would be a lot less effort to edit those in.
Now this is what a minecraft film should be. No dialogue, just beautiful scenery and raw expressions to convey all the emotion. It really portrays the feeling of exploring minecraft with nothing but your thoughts and the huge minecraft world to keep you company
Before I didn't think much of a live action Minecraft film and always thought it would be better animated. But you guys really nailed it, especially on exploration!
That's what a live action Minecraft movie should be . And I like how the story is understood without a single word spoken . Is there a sequel in the works maybe ?
I’ve said that it would be impossible to do a live action Minecraft…now I’m proven wrong. Definitely well done: it feels like Minecraft and how the first days feel playing the game. I especially loved details like setting up the painting, it’s way too relatable
as a long time minecraft player i love the game-related accuracy of the movie. and the music totally blew me away❤ no chance the live action movie comes close to this one!

I am going to tell my kids this was THE Minecraft movie
faça isso por que se você falar que foi o filme original é possível eles pegarem cancer de olho, virarem um gato de porcelana e sairem voando pela sua janela e gritarem, MAMA MIA.

this was everything younger me wanted in a minecraft "real life" film. absolutely astonishing. i want the recipe/mob book so badly! it was made so well and fit the minecraft vibe so good!
i want that book too!
I remember watching "minecraft in real life!!1" youtube videos a lot, in like 2012 (I was 9 or 10). I was even thinking of trying to make one myself (I was 10 at a time), so good I didn't XD
The one I still remember was short series, on what if Minecraft was in real life AND in the realies of rural Russia (which, well, is where I am from).
Wow, I've never thought of it this way. I was always more into the building than fighting.
"You can't sleep right now! There are monsters outside. Go on. Go kill them!"
It's live action and fanmade, yet still beats out the actual film. Thats just wild.
LMAO
That's what we want isn't it
seriously tho litreally everytime they looked at each other the tension was through the roof espicially at the last scene where i actually thought were gonna kiss or smh

I came with low expectations for a low budget fan film. I was greeted by something with a better storyline as an adaptation than almost every modern video game movie
The CGI, the sets, the props, the music, the acting, the everything! I loved the orchestral renditions of Minecraft’s soundtrack, the beautifully made sets, the props, the mobs, even the furry creeper from the trailer is here!
this is THE minecraft film. not that jack black whatever that was Film. The emotions even without words. loved it
From one film-maker to another, this is incredible! The CGI, the sound effects, the props, the sets, the mobs, the Minecraft vibe! There has got to be a sequel!
I think they left a cliffhanger at the end for a reason. So, I think they will make a sequel!😮 I think they will even make this an entire series.
I'm not a Film-Maler, but otherwise I was about to write the same comment. This really is great stuff here!
This is amazing. Even the detail from 3D model mobs, to the players communicating with just their bodies like the original, involving the custom and soothing Minecraft remixes, this should win the best Oscar award for the best Minecraft fan film ever!
When I see a TH-camr comment:
I appreciate the lack of words. The film relies on body language, facial ques and an understanding of the game mechanics to tell its story.. along with the occiasional "hmmmm" for good measure
i love how a fan movie is better than the official movie trailer itself
This is a masterpiece. It captures everything players love about Minecraft: the feeling of arriving home after a long night, taming a dog, etc. Also the acting, CGI, and music are perfect.
It also capture the detail in real minecraft such as mob drop and also cave holes in plain biome..

The sound score that is perfectly aligned with every second of the action on the screen is truly breathtaking... and the way "some friends from college" is an entire symphony orchestra 🎉
I would love to see a video concert of the orchestra playing the score!

1 minute in and i see its already much better than the minecraft movie being made
The choose to make this film about the first day and then make it about 20 minutes is amazing.
It's the best & cutest thing ever, but instead we will get some old guy screaming "I am Steve!!!1" for the lulz.
