I love this stuff so much. This last year I went on two 9 day high country elk hunts, a 7 day mule deer hunt, 6 day antelope hunt and lived out of my truck for 16 days hunting birds with the dog and this stuff was next to water as a staple. Fry up some fresh deer back straps and some minute rice and it is a feast. After using those freeze dried foods for years I just couldn't take the bland flavors anymore. Glad I ran across this keep it up guys.
This is a great video for me. I eat Keto (high fat) and this will be perfect on the trail. I am going to do a section hike on the AT and my biggest concern was what to eat. This will definitely give me some delicious options. Thanks
Keto-meals for backpacking have gotten a lot of interest lately. I have done keto before, and spent some time in graduate school studying the effects of the diet on athletes. It's a no-brainer it could be hugely beneficial for backpackers both as a fuel for exercise, as well as how much more dense the food is to pack in. Other keto foods I would recommend (which you probably are already using): beef jerky, mtn house scrambled eggs, nut-based trail mix, etc. Also check out phat fudge! (phatfudge.com), and if you can stomach it - pemmican.
SBOutdoors Thanks for the suggestions. I have made my own zero carb jerky, and nuts are absolutely on the snack plan. I am not sure I could make a Fat Bomb that would not melt, but I have found some Peter Pan peanut butter that is fairly low carb and delicious. Lost 55 pounds so far and I am shooting for another 30 before I hit the AT in late April.
I was hoping to make this for this weekend but I don't have the fruit trays. You think I can use wax paper? Going to Wildcat. Hope to get out on the trail with you guys one day. Thanks for the vid.
Any self respecting inhabitant from the 716 will inform you that : 1- Frank's hot sauce all the way, 2-blue cheese not ranch! If you ever pass through the area I will show you the birthplace, and best places for original wings.
SBOutdoors there's Frank's red-hot powder and also powdered blue cheese from.hoosier farms on amazon. Good stuff. I use them both for my chicken wing trail soup mix
Quick chicken shredding tip; use a hand mixer. The beaters will do the work in short order. Keep up the good work! Love the videos.
Thank u!

Your dehydrated buffalo chicken would be really good added to a Knorr or Mountain House pasta and alfredo sauce. Yum!
I just wanted to say thank you for making this video! I made some and we trail tested it last weekend. Delicious!!!
This was an awesome recipe and video....love to see more videos on making your own backpacking food. Thanks for sharing.
Looks like a good recipe. I have the same question as Atlas918 about portioning.
Make a video of rehydrating this with Mac and cheese or whatever else you mix with it!
That's a great idea, I love spicy stuff on the trail! Will have to try this recipe!
You will not be disappointed! Also your house will smell FANTASTIC
Yum love me some buffalo chicken. I am going to have to try this out.

How much water is required to re hydrate it .... lets say you have 1/2 cup of the chicken how much water is needed. Looks great!
Awesome video guys. Question: Do you dethawl your meals from the freezer, before a trip, or do you just let it dethawl on the trail?
Great video!

Also check out our beef and bean burrito recipes (we have a video, it could be tweaked to make it more keto-friendly.

How is it to just munch dry like chips?
Looked great
How much water to rehydrate?

I would think wax paper would work well
SBOutdoors I have used was paper before and it works fine.
How do you portion it? By weight? By volume? What size portion would you suggest?
The bulk prep stays in a large freezer bag and then portioned out by volume for each trip. I generally fill a quart freezer bag about ~25% full.
Can’t wait to try this 😍😍😍
nice... i really need to get a dehydrator...
Worth $60-$70!!
Celery?
why canned chicken?
I would like to start dehydrating meals but I'm just too damn lazy.
At least this meal doesn't require any cooking!

Do they make blue cheese packets ??? I love Frank's red hot too. I wonder how well it dehydrates

Arcana73 yes!! ^this guy gets it.
Timmy, even though you're living in Ohio now, I'm glad you stick with your blue cheese roots. :D
some convenience stores have packets of blue cheese, and/or ranch. I am a former 716er.
