  • Welcome back everyone! I've been on iRacing a lot lately racing in various leagues, and I realized once again how amazing the software is. While it may not be 100% perfect (and somewhat expensive), it is amazing that I can drive cars I've driven in real life with up to 60 other real race car drivers in real-time with a high level of realism. I just happened to stumble upon iRacing one day when I was 14 or 15 years old, and I think there are still a lot of people who would find it super intriguing but simply don't know how its different from anything else out there. It definitely taught me a lot, so I think some of you may find it eye-opening as well.

    Great videos, really enjoyed the one on MoTec and looking for more insight on how to extract bad behaviors from data set. I assume you are on kollmorgen, can you please explain what is that cylinder fastened on top of the power and data connectors?

    Great video! Love your recommendations. Hope you make more like that. Have you given rFactor 2 a workout? I'd be interested your opinion how that compares to reality as it's supposed to be the gold standard for realism.

      I do use rF2 often for my team’s online training, but they use their own custom car models. I haven’t given the base game a run through yet but I definitely will before giving it a full assessment. From what I’ve noticed so far, it’s not as realistic in general, but that may just becomes the car model causing that feeling.

      Cameron Das Racing that's really interesting. I know you said the RSS F3 for AC was pretty realistic except the tires. The ASR F3 2017 in rF2 is so different. Could be the modelling, default setup, brake and throttle sensitivities. But it's great to have real world deliver being able to give comparisons. Not many like that posting stuff.

    Any advice on how to get familiar with setting up a car and how to actually understand how the setup changes will affect the car? I only really play F1 2019 and even though the setup options are quite limited I still just download setups from people who set the fastest times in time trial... This is more of a general question than a game-specific one. Very helpful video by the way :)

      It's one of those things that just take practice. I'd recommend looking up some TH-cam videos that help you diagnose oversteer and understeer. As for specifically tuning the car, you really just got to try things back to back and make your own assessment using feeling/data to determine whether or not it was better. I find that the descriptions at the bottom of the screen when you hover over a setup item are really helpful. Maybe I should make a basic guide for tweaking setups for the TH-cam channel?

      Thanks for the advice! I suppose there’s no real shortcut then it is just a case of trial and error? A video going through the process you take when determining the best setup for you would be very insightful but you’ve been more than helpful already! The reason I brought it up is because I think a lot of people (myself included) just get lazy and hit play but don’t pay the car setup the attention it really deserves.

    • @CameronDasRacing

      I think just like anything, it takes practice. It’s one thing to know the physics of it all, but diagnosing problems based on feeling takes skill that’s really hard to develop. So many driving elements done incorrectly can make a setup seem awful, so driving and engineering really have to coexist. Most of the time, I tweak setups developed by someone else (as it’s less time consuming and I’m not an engineer), but occasionally I will just for fun to see how close I can get.

      Ok well I’ll keep practicing and see how far I get. Thanks Cameron - good luck for when you get back in the real thing!

    Super good video as I am someone who hopes to get iRacing in the future. From what I’ve seen, you can run the sim on just about any good computer. As a racer in real life, I’d rather spend 1500 bucks on parts than for a computer. What is the lowest price point for a computer without sacrificing too much quality? Sry for the long comment

    • @CameronDasRacing
      @CameronDasRacing  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right. You definitely don’t need a $1500 computer to run iRacing. I would say that price reflects a “no compromise” setup. That will give you enough power to run triple monitors or maybe VR if that’s what you wanted to do. Honestly, you could run iRacing on a gaming laptop on lower settings just fine. I couldn’t give you a specific number on price because of part prices are so volatile unfortunately. I probably should have made that clearer in the video. Hope this answers your question.

    the worst tyre model and force feedback of all sims, with the best online structure of all sims.
    like someone else said, just don't leave simracing if you don't like iracing, because there are many other sims that do almost everything much, much better than iracing.
