This was a powerful and lovely performance! When there are a lot of really excellent performances by baritones and tenors, it can be hard for us basses to remember that we have a time to shine as well, but this video made me a lot more confident that I'll be able to perform this song with my voice. Thanks for a great take on a great piece!
So glad that I'm able to serve as a role model for you on this piece. Basses especially feel pressure to be loud all the time, and it's important to explore the intimate, soft dynamics, as well as all the colors your voice can offer. I find art song as a great place to explore the full spectrum of timbre and volume
I believe I got this from an art song collection called "200 Songs by Schubert" or something, and I got the "Low Voice" edition. I could send you the sheet music if you contact me through my website
You can find the transposition in E major at least on the site sheet music plus. I don't know any editor that has published this transposition (for instance "Duparc 12 Songs medium voice, International Music Company" is in F#). Gérard Souzay has recorder this Mélodie several times, one in E with Jacqueline Bonneau (60s? Decca, today Testament). More recently Andrea Mastroni has also recorded (Duparc Lamento, Brillant Classics) it in E (Mattia Ometto piano).
@@emmanueldupuis8121 Thanks for the tips, but Peter sent me a scan of his copy that works fine. I managed to get my hands on the book it came from so everything worked out!
Young Sir, I am rendered speechless in tears of gratitude. 😭👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🤧🥹🤩🤗😍
✨️BRAVISSIMO✨️
Beautiful enough to give me chills....Thank you!
Absolutely. So rich and graceful, bravo.
Thank you my friend!
The way you supported the not just before the climax of this piece gave me chills. Well done!!!
for someone like me who isn't technically knowledgeable, can you point out the minute/second of the video where this occurs? Thanks!!
Well done, and your French pronunciation is excellent (from a native speaker ;-))!!
Your both wonderful, enjoyed it very much.
Thank you so much!

Beautifully sung.
Thank you! 🙏🏼
Really lovely.
Where did you find this key? The lowest I could find it is F major and thats not an official transposition.
