- Kelly and Dan's Flying Ghost 2019. New equipment and a longer run make this flying ghost much better than the last. I'm sorry but the end portion of the video was deleted because of some copyright issue. I have added a very short Pt.2. to my Videos. Some of the cool scary sounds are from Peder B. Hellend '' Scary Castle''. Thank You

Perfect directions!!!!! Thank you so much
Thank You, we love Halloween and want to make even better displays for our neighborhood to enjoy.
Great video. Thanks so much!My main concern is how to tighten the line between the two posts? Thanks
Sorry for the late response, I put a couple of small shims at the bottom of the posts to tighten the line
Looks great! And a great video - thanks for sharing the details.
I couldn't find where you bought your line kit??? 😢
Hi, the line itself or the motor and pulley system?
How did you all mount the motor to the wheel?
@@robdmau We bought the motor and pulley system kit from FrightProps.
@@dansvideovault2186 got ya, I must have missed that
What about the video of the finished product in action? It would have been a great
Sorry, for some reason the end got cut because of some copyright issue .
I just added a short Pt. 2. Thanks for watching.
Very nice video. You all did a great job on it. Not over bearing music either!!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Hi there, I am looking to finish my setup this week. I have both wheels mounted, and now just need to install the line. Did you simply run the line around both wheels to determine what your final length would be? Also, how did you keep the line from just slipping on the wheel as it turned? Seems like both the line and the wheel are fairly slick, so wondered if there was a trick to getting the line to 'grab' to the surface of the wheel?
Hi Casey, sorry for the slow reply. Hopefully you're in flying ghost bliss right now, but if not, here our our tips and answers to your questions. First we measured the distance with a tape measure but decided it was just easier to take the roll of spider line and run it around both pulleys cutting it with a couple feet to spare so we could grab it and tie it tightly to the swivel. The wheel did seem slick to us too but amazingly it doesn't fall off unless you hang a heavy ghost on it. Our ghost was just some styrofoam for the head, a hanger bent out for the arms and really light organza fabric. The key is to tie the line as tight as you can. If there is any play in your post holes give them a push towards each other till you have the line tied tightly. then push them back and if you have a tiny bit of space between post and concrete put in a little shim of your own ingenuity (we like to keep it classy so we folded up a piece of cardboard) to keep the posts pushed away from each other as much as possible, thus keeping the line tight.
This is all made easier if you have 2 people but if there's only 1 of you you can put the line through 1 wheel and put a couple small pieces of duct tape on the top and bottom rims of the wheel directly across from each other to keep it from sliding off while you go to the other wheel. make sure the line can slide freely around the wheel though. then string it across to your second wheel and tie up around it.
We have also considered mounting some small pulleys on some steel strapping and then mounting them on the posts to reach up and touch under the line as it starts to round the wheel. That little bit of extra insurance should keep the line from falling off. We didn't have much trouble keeping the ghost on but I think the line did pull off twice last season when the ghost was heavy with rain. We're going to watch it this season and add pulleys if necessary.

Wow!! This looks fantastic. Really life-like.
Er.. I mean, death-like!
what type of line is that, bought the kit and thank you
It was a braided fishing line, I think 50lb test. You can get it from Dick's Sporting goods. I think we bought 300 yds. because it was the smallest available.
I have seen other videos calling for 150 braided test and i checked the price and it is 250 plus. i will got to Dick's and get it. Thank you for replying.
What kind of pulleys did you order?
We ordered the kit from Frightprops.com. I believe it was $ 229.
This year , we are going to use 10' 4x4s instead of 8' to bring him up higher.
@@dansvideovault2186 thanks
How do you get the line tight?
Luckily there were 2 of us doing it.Once we put the line on the pulleys [ as tight as possible ] we tapped in shims at the bottom of the posts to give even more tension. I hope that helps.
Where did you get the kit?
Hi, We got it from a company called Fright Props and we bought the $229 kit.
Where do you find the kit?
Frightprops.com .Sorry for the delay
