I was going to add, I've made shelves before and you might have to add one more support per shelf once your book collection grows...But then, you already said it. Smart idea, leaving the supports movable. I might try that myself. Thanks.

Louis L’Amour 👍! I have a pretty good size collection of his books. I’ve been reading his books since the 1970’s. I have some duplicates. If you have a particular one that you’re wanting let me know and if I have it, you’re welcome to it.

Hey Neline! Fellow book reader/collector here! Let me start by saying that I love that bookshelf. Love how it fills up the space and has plenty of shelves to add all your books! It's dreamy!!! If you don't want to stain it dark, put a clear coat on it. Here are some reading and author suggestions: Zane Gray, Larry McMurtry (the Lonesome Dove series!), Mary Austin, and Ellen Meloy. I would even suggest Edna Farber. I read a lot of different genres; historical fiction, mystery, and biographies. I got into Ian Rankin in the last five years. He's from Scotland and writes detective and crime novels. This was a surprise for me since I don't normally gravitate towards detective novels. I also love "The Three Musketeers" and that whole series from Alexandre Dumas. In the historical fiction vein, I would suggest Tracy Chevalier; "The Last Runaway" is a favorite, so is "At the Edge of the Orchard." Cheers and happy reading! :)

I look at the frost on the trees, the landscape all white with snow, and I agree with you about how beautiful it is. Then you said it was -7C, and I looked at the thermometer here +20C. Then I went outside and looked at the palm trees, picked a couple oranges from the tree in my back yard, and I thought how glad I am to live in Southern California. Sorry, Saskatchewan, not for me. Thanks for the video. Jon Van Veldthuijzen. P.S: My favorite books are true adventures, example: Kon Tiki by Thor Heyerdahl, Under the Red Sea Sun by Commander Edward Elsberg, U-505, by Admiral Daniel Gallery, or anything written by Jane Goodall.

"It's Not Hoarding If It's Books." Got a tee shirt that says just that. I have lots of books, too; I'm guessing somewhere in the mid-hundreds. Lots of bookshelves filled with all kinds of books in most of the rooms in the house. I stack the books flat rather that store them upright to save the covers and backs from warping. I beginning to think a few more shelves are needed . . . no, I know more bookshelves are needed.

    Hello
My name is Robert Beside what you do and the enjoyment I get from your videos there is a very warm place in my heart for SK. My mother (born in 1909 - one of six children) was born in Windthorst SK. She had a great love of the prairie and her family. Her father (Art) and his brother Chick owned the hardware store in Windthorst. While my mom, her brothers and parents moved west to Burnaby BC, Chick maintained the store (the store is still there and family run). S0, while never have been there I still feel a sort of connection to SK. Thank you for sharing

I have always been a huge reader and book collector too and fantasy is also my favorite genre. The wheel of time series from Robert Jordan and the imager and recluce series from LE Modesitt are my favorites. I made a new bold case last year. Found some ambrosia maple at an Amish lumber store. It came out great.

Bridging SciFi and dragons, the Dragonriders of Pern series. Then there are the classics, Don Quixote, The Hunchback of Notre-Dame and my favorite the Count of Monte Cristo. For the back story on the last, The Black Count by Tom Reiss. For a penetrating look at human nature, there are the books from Graham Greene. For non-fiction which touches on Dutch history relative to the United States, The First Salute by Barbara Tuchman. An account of why the Dutch where the first nation to recognize the American nation. Reasons that still hold today. If you are interested where Star Wars came from the Foundation series by Issac Asimov and Dune by Frank Herbert.

I am a big reader as well. I like various romance book types. My favorite author is Lynsay Sands. Her Argeneaus series is my favorite from any author. Really good books. I mostly read on my Kindle Paperwhite nowadays because of my vision issues and the fact I read the same books over and over again to the point the paperbacks get completely destroyed from over use. I have gone through 3 copies of Matilda by Roald Dahl.

Always check out that kind of used bookstore in the more low-rent towns you visit for even better prices. I find that charity bookshops tend to up-price their inventory in gentrified (upper-middle class) areas compared to more normal locations. I know it's allegedly for charity but price gouging is gouging. Also, some are profit-making businesses that only use the charity name and give them a sliver of the actual revenue.

Book suggestion. My favorite fiction series "In Death" by J.D. Robb (aka Nora Roberts). Strong female lieutenant (homicide), mystery, comedy, romance and sci fi all in one book. The 1st book is Naked in Death which was written in 1995, but the story takes place in the year 2028 hence the sci fi and automation. There are currently 58 books in the series. Usually 3 books per year.

I also prefer fantasy novels, though I have not read as much lately as I did even 10 years ago. I really liked Glen Cook's fantasy mercenary series Black Company, the Malazan Book of the Fallen series (and related novels) by Steven Erikson (a Canadian), and the various books by Guy Gavriel Kay (also a Canadian). Cook is terse, Erikson is not (he can be a hard read sometimes, he also likes to start mid action), Kay is somewhere in the middle. Years back I switched to buying my books on Kindle, so as long as I have my phone they are with me (but I still have my book collection). Since you do follow Sandi Brock/Sheepishly Me you are doubtless aware of Sandi and Jess's book club.
