All respect and honor to Mike, there are so few REAL HEROES and amazing men in the nation. My Dad (God Bless him and rest his soul) was one, Mike reminds me of him and is a truly inspirational young man. God Bless him and his family as well as all the sweet/tough dogs!!! Big THANK YOU for helping the retired dogs too. 👍
Benno was one of my heroes. Lovely to see the painting of him ‘Into The Breach’. He was an amazing story that needs to be heard. See Mike Ritland’s podcast with Colin Trent MacDonald. The story goes from Benno being banned from Afghanistan for killing goats to him eventually returning and being killed on his last mission. He had a tag attached to his deceased body; Staff Sergeant Benno. A real warrior story.
Thank you for this great episode. I really enjoy listening to what Mike has to say. Regarding dogs and dog training of course, but also about his way of managing his employees, about decisions in life etc. He is a role model.
Mike your story is interesting and also so inspiring. Your knowledge of your business is phenomenal. Thank you for your service to this great country and keep doing the great things you do.
I read Mr. Ritland's 'Navy SEAL Dogs' and 'Trident K9 Warriors' books. Both books were inspirational and motivating. Very good reads. I highly recommend both.
Thanks Mike and Ryan! I always wanted to be a K9 handler when I was in LE but never did. I was on operations where K9s were used and they saved us from injury or getting killed. Great interview.
Cheers. We loved that. More! Hey Brendin. Thanks james knight. Dusty roads. Thanks for your service. Uk thanks for going in peaceful evertime. God keep you safe and together. Anything you want...
He's a fkn Great dude. If we're gunna start cloning people, this is the one they should grab. Na, seriously, when God made man, this bloke is what he was picturing in his head. Mike Ritland for President.
49:00. I love this. I'm autistic, and cannot tell you how many misunderstandings people have had with me because of this. I talk straight, say what I mean, and mean what I say. No matter my emotional state. I never say anything I don't mean. And I never say things in a way that is left open to interpretation. I pick my words with care, to be sure they accurately represent what I intend. SO MANY people cant understand that!
In WWI and WWII, the government asked civilians to lend their dogs to the war effort to be trained, they served in war and were returned. (Many were sadly lost of course). In Vietnam dogs were used, but at the end of the war they were considered “excess property” and some bureaucrat decided so, and were all euthanized in-country. In recent years this has been changed, and whenever possible the dogs are adopted out or given to their former trainers. There is a very nice war dog memorial in Lyon township, Michigan, in memory of those Vietnam dogs and all working dogs. They have a cemetery and have memorials for police/fire etc dogs.
Good morning my American brothers & Sisters. (Its Sunday morning in Australia) Anyway, I have a question. In the British military, all animals outrank their handlers by one rank. This ensures good treatment of the animal. Abusive behaviour is akin to assaulting a senior officer, with severe penalties. So, I'm asking, is this the case in the American Defence force?
@@bradleydennis1263G'day Bradley. Yeah I'm originally from Northern Ireland (part of the UK. Moved to Oz with parents when u was 16, nearly 35 years ago) But yeah, I just did a bit of research and American Defence force dose the exact same thing. I think that's really great. Recognising these animals for what they do, and giving them the respect they deserve is fantastic. Hard for me to put into words how it makes me feel. Proud to be a human. Which is rare these days. Something about a soldier saluting a dog just put a shiver in, idk. As a animal lover, it's fkn great. And WWI as horrific as it was, knowing that even the men at the top were trying to look after the animals is heart-warming. The horses would of had places they'd rather be. Knowing they were treated like soldiers, with rank blows my mind. Good on us for once. Anyway, take care Bradley, enjoy the Christmas break. Hope you and yours stay safe & happy. (Seen 'Warhorse'? Worth watching. ) 🙋♂️🤙✌
Imagine combat story hog hunts taking operators out before the podcast and letting them do what they’re good at and showing off them helicopter skills with some music blaring …I can see it now lol thoughts at 3 am
