I first heard this song performed by fellow Irish gal, Sinead O’Connor! It was not too long after becoming a true believing Christian! I immediately connected the words to my belief in Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour ! Then I found out that Bob Dylan actually wrote this song when he was converted and that was the icing on the cake for me!! I absolutely love Sinead O’Connor’s rendition of this song. Perhaps because I can relate to many of her adverse childhood experiences, as well as her painful experiences that she lived through her adult life. She may be gone but her precious voice will be heard for many many generations to come. May she rest peacefully ☘️❤️🌻

I'll never forget Bob on Saturday Night Live singing this song. That was perfect evangelism in the music world. I began writing songs because of that performance.
Dylan, the Spirit of God is evident in this album. I believe you had a transforming salvation during that time of your life, and I believe that you will break free from your current chains and return to freedom in Jesus. Peace and Love.
Love it, too. Have you heard all of Seeds of Change by Kerry Livgren and about all the great musicians who played on it? Kerry was the lead guitarist, keyboard player and main songwriter in Kansas, he wrote great songs like Dust in the Wind.
Years ago I was driving home from work and listening to the "Slow Train Coming" album on my cassette player. I was so overcome with emotion when I listened to this song that I had to pull off the road for a miniute, weeping euphioric tears of incredible joy.
This song shows Bob Dylan's genius. He becomes a Christian, and within a short period after writes I Believe in You, When He Returns (one of the greatest Christian songs ever written), and creates one of the best -- if not THE best -- Christian albums ever recorded. You just can't say enough about Bob Dylan. God's gift to us. Thank you Bob!
This song is the story of my life and walk with Christ. I had the pleasure to speak with Bob at end of his concert during the Rolling thunder tour. We spoke about how prophetic Hendrix's version of the star spangled banner was during Woodstock; as a message to U.S. Govm't's military strategic intervention--i.e. Vietnam etc.
"I believe in you, even on the morning after..." The morning after: we've all been there, indeed. A very effective piece of evangelism. Terrific song. More introspective than most of the songs on "Slow Train Coming".
Heard my life sung by my musical hero with this song, after all these years, for the first time. Someone out there understands the frowns, the laughter, the rejection, and yes, the triumph of life believing in The Great I Am.
When I was in college I was challenged to the core in my belief of God; but what kept me was my experience with God. I remember this song playing and I felt those words so strongly. College refined me in my belief in God and challenged me to seek him out for myself. I don’t mind the driving rain I believe in You.
My mum and dad split up in 1981. In 1984 I was 8. It was just me and my dad, a very hard working and underpaid local journalist. He couldn’t work and stay on top of the household chores aswell, so when I got home from school I’d do the hoovering for him so it’d be all clean when he got home. he’d say: “Tel, it makes such a difference”. Around that time Dylan got into my heart and soul. In particular, Slow Train Coming, and in particular, I Believe in You. I can remember pulling the record out of the sleeve, putting it on the turntable, brushing the needle with my middle finger and planting it straight onto the third groove along Side One, make sure it’s side one. This particular time I’d finished the hoovering and I believe in you was playing. The line: “and I, I walk out on my own, a thousand miles from home, but I don’t feel alone” just wiped me out and reduced me to tears. Then I heard my dads’ key opening the front door. He saw that clean floors, me crying, and the song playing. He didn’t need to ask what was wrong.
One of the MOST BEAUTIFUL songs ever written. Man reconciled to God. A Whole-Hearted passionate Proclamation of Faith in Jesus Christ; God's ONLY begotten Son. In Him we have Redemption according to the riches of God's Grace.😊
God bless you, Bob Dylan, God bless you and your love for our God ❤️🙏🙏🕊️ I love you this song came out in 1979 I remember it well. I pray for you and your health and voice and music, I'm in love with you ❤️♾️ forever Elizabeth 🙏
Sitting back supping a strong coffee and enjoying a cigarette listening to this whole album.. this track always hits the feels though. Bob you are the wellspring we all draw from, the well never runs dry!!
I was a confused young man in my teens in the 80s when I first heard this album - it was a force for good in the tug of war of good and evil. At nearly 60, I'd like to say "Thanks, Bob".
As in: the Slow Train Coming is the return of Christ, and laying the tracks is prophecies being fulfilled and/or the spreading of the gospel building the church. Yes?
This song is so sweetly romantic. I have always believed in Bob, nok matter what. I always knew he was coming from a place far beyond our reach -. and cuz of that - I've always payed close attention to all he does and doesn't do !
Devil nothin but the father of lies he dont get to give life or take it only Yeshua the great God gives life and takes it away Bob is owned by the blood of Jesus

Faith is a funny attitude to have in our inner being. It's goes through every thing to achieve its aims and goals. Wow I understand when I saw you first time on a record cover I heard your word I knew you were truth worthy.
They ask me how I feel
And if my love is real
And how I know I'll make it through
And they, they look at me and frown,
They'd like to drive me from this town,
They don't want me around
'Cause I believe in you
They show me to the door,
They say don't come back no more
'Cause I don't be like they'd like me to,
And I walk out on my own
A thousand miles from home
But I don't feel alone
'Cause I believe in you
I believe in you even through the tears and the laughter,
I believe in you even though we be apart
I believe in you even on the morning after
Oh, when the dawn is nearing
Oh, when the night is disappearing
Oh, this feeling is still here in my heart
Don't let me drift too far,
Keep me where you are
Where I will always be renewed
And that which you've given me today
Is worth more than I could pay
And no matter what they say
I believe in you
🎵🎶🎵🎶
I believe in you when winter turn to summer,
I believe in you when white turn to black,
I believe in you even though I be outnumbered
Oh, though the earth may shake me
Oh, though my friends forsake me
Oh, even that couldn't make me go back
Don't let me change my heart,
Keep me set apart
From all the plans they do pursue
And I, I don't mind the pain
Don't mind the driving rain
I know I will sustain
'Cause I believe in you
Thanks.
Thank you for the lyrics, Juan Camacho. I love singing along every time I get the lyrics 😊😊😊

@DorothyParker By chains, I am referring to his recorded admission to having sold his soul to Satan. That is very concerning.
but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved. Matthew 24:13
Dylan has admitted in an interview to having contracted with Satan for his music career at some point.
My favorite Christian album of all time.

There's more conviction in his voice here than his other songs, which is saying a lot
