0:07 Carbot played 4 player coop for this episode with everyone playing a custom character - you are "somehow" saved from the crash
0:08 my guess, from left to right, the characters are: human wizard, drow rogue, forest gnome bard, and dwarf barbarian
0:13 rogue spots a locked chest to loot next to spawn
0:16 you need a lockpick item in order to, well, lockpick
0:18 Baldur's Gate 3 adheres to Dungeons and Dragons 5th edition rules which is a dice based game
0:19 lockpicking is rolled with a d20 (a 20-sided dice)
0:20 the sound of succeeding a roll
0:21 the barbarian jumps over instead of walking
0:23 the barbarian picks up the chest and puts it in their inventory before the rogue could open it
0:24 every time you use an ability like jump, your character does a little animation while waiting for you to confirm where to jump
0:25 the stronger you are, the further you jump... the wizard is either stronger than expected or cast a spell for jumping further
0:28 the party didn't save Shadowheart during the tutorial so she spawned right next to them and is the one of the first companion NPC(non-playable character) to join you
0:29 your party can be in the background of cutscenes and dialogue, sometimes stuck in a state like having your weapons out
0:30 you can chose to play with companion NPCs or have them wait for you at your camp
0:32 companions disappear when you tell them to go to camp or the barbarian used the throw action with Shadowheart (yes, you can throw people if you're strong enough)
0:35 it's kind of stupid how far you can jump which makes it very fun and an efficient way of travel
0:38 apart from the barbarian, the party enters combat which changes the gameplay from free roam to turn based
0:39 one of the first enemies you can encounter in another part of the nautiloid wreckage are brains with legs called intellect devourers
0:40 when entering combat, everyone rolls for when they play, the highest number going first
0:41 during combat, at the cost of not being able to attack, you can dash to double the distance you travel in a turn
0:42 the party rolled low so they play last which is rather convenient when enemies dash right next to you
0:45 the barbarian is jumping around outside of combat and out of sight from the intellect devourers
0:48 the enemies are pretty weak but so are you
0:50 the wizard is probably stuck doing melee since casting spells next to enemies usually provoke attacks of opportunity which can mean certain death
0:51 wizard aren't good at melee so they have low chance to hit and/or they rolled a 1 which automatically fails the attack even if they would otherwise be a hit
0:52 enemy turn, wizard probably died
0:53 the first fast travel waypoint you discover is where you meet Gale, another companion NPC, asking for help to be pulled through the portal
0:56 attacking the hand is one of the dialogue options
0:59 wizard casts jump on the barbarian which triples jump distance
1:05 you can sometimes jump to areas that will kill you like the ocean

1:18 the gythyanki turns out to be Laezel, another one of the companion NPCs that you previously meet in the tutorial
1:19 you can leave without freeing Laezel so she never joins you
1:23 the party decides to take a long rest and is teleported to the camp (not sure if Laezel is part of the camp)
1:25 Astarion turns out to be a vampire and wants to have a taste of your character
1:27 you wake up before Astarion can take a bite
1:31 there's a dialogue option to, despite everything, allow Astarion to feed on you
1:32 sometimes, you get locked into a choice and it just goes on
