  • Best Gibson Acoustic Guitar at Guitar Center? Gibson J45 Standard DEMO, Reaction, and Review.
What’s different about Gibson acoustic guitars? Is there a “Gibson guitar” thing?
Let’s try to answer that question with a Gibson J-45 Standard Demo and Gibson J 45 Standard Review. And YES, Gibson Acoustic Guitars IS a thing.

Now that I'm hearing it again in the recording, I really do want this guitar.

It has its own voice. Very pretty, yet bold.

It's a classic. My dad's 1949 J-45 he bought new in 1950 for 75 dollars was the guitar that inspired me to start playing in 1962. It was love at first sight.

Mahogany back and sides, not rosewood. Great video!!

This should be pretty obvious for a lot of people on here at this point, but from my personal experience, ANY guitar that has been lingering in a Guitar Center rack for several years is bound to turn you off from it. They do not care for their instruments. They just let the guitars sit there and collect dust. Hell, there was literally a Fender Telecaster with a broken switch. (Which is not uncommon for them)
The guitars age while they are sitting on that rack....but not the good kind. Guitar Center does not care for their instruments very well....at least not the location around here. Very rarely have I walked out of a Guitar Center with a smile on my face, and with nice equipment I bought in there.

It's funny you mention that, I actually did a few videos on that subject and Guitar Center in general. Here's the playlist: th-cam.com/play/PLo2qPZaBmyM8kkOcKKiQNzv62ZviNKf1o.html&si=SVnji1xrBaghpdYI

Give it a wipe down and new strings. Would cost 10 bucks and you’d think differently

Man, I want to like the j45, but always come away unimpressed, especially for the money. I would extend that opinion to most Gibson acoustics. I find them overbuilt with gloppy thick finishes. Love many of their electrics, but there are so many superior acoustics in the price range or even lower. Check out the Eastman Slope Shoulder if you get a chance. Maybe 1800 dollars and way better in my opinion. For three grand, I would just get a Martin d-18. Different than a J45, but not that much different, and a much better instrument imo.

I think I agree that the D18 is better overall quality, But I feel like they're very different things. I want to like Eastman, I just can't get my head around it. Every argument people make that they want to get an Eastman over a Martin or a Gibson, that argument can be made even stronger to get something a third of the price at the Eastman or less and just as good. I like really affordable guitars, or I like really high-end guitars, I really struggle with something that's trying to split the difference.

Yes. To each his own. For what it’s worth, I have a Martin d28 a Taylor 314ce and an Eastman OM. 95% of time I pick up
The Eastman is what I play. It’s an om though.
