For the Philies 1993 was an outlier year as it would be their only winning season from 1987 to 2000 and yet here they win the pennant and come within two outs of getting the World Series to game seven.

A stunning upset. Atlanta was as hot as any team going into October, but Philly found a way to win 3 nailbiters

They were worn out from the long race with San Francisco

@@cbod14 The Phillies and Braves played the same number of regular season games.

@@josephvanhorn5347 The Phillies had to over come a 10 game deficit & had a close pennant race throughout September? Do tell. Give The Phillies credit but do not act like that race with San Francisco didn’t take its toll on Atlanta

@@cbod14 We just watched the Phillies need 161 games to make the playoffs and then go to the World Series.

@@josephvanhorn5347 The Phillies clinched on 9/28/93. The Braves didn’t clinch until 10/3/93. Really try again.

Its a shame this NLCS didnt go 7 games.
In game 1 = Schilling pitched a gem = 8 innings, 10K . Impressive win by the Phillies in extra innings.
In game 2 = What a blast by McGriff 1:45. Atlanta offense showed up. Maddux pitched a gem
In game 3 = Braves offense shows up again, as they are now up 2-1. Phillies look done. Kruk hitting great
In game 4 = Mit Williams sure brought the drama. The game that got away from Atlanta. Very impressive win by the Phillies, against a tough Smoltz
In game 5 = More Mit Williams drama, WOW . Mark Whohlers giving up clutch postseason home runs (wont be the first time). Anywho, great back to back pitched games . Another impressive extra innings win by the Phillies, and their third victory this series and all 3 victories were close drama games.
In game 6 = COme on Maddux, you gotta win that game 6. Thats why Atlanta got you after 92 . As for the Phillies, this is really a unique fun team to follow. I always said that this is perhaps the most loved Phillies team in Pennsylvannia history.

The Phillies' only playoff appearance between 1984-2006.

Yeah. Damn it was a long miserable stretch. As someone born in 79 who grew up 30 miles south of Philly. They sucked almost my entire childhood, teens, and most my 20s!😂😂

My god putting the ball in play. Where has this type of baseball gone?

Philly did have the 3rd best record in baseball for what it’s worth. This wasn’t like the 82-79 Mets of 1973

2006 Cards were 83-79! And won the WS! Ironically after winning 104 and 98 games the previous two seasons. And not winning anything!

In game five the Braves would give up a big late inning home run to Dykstra, that happened a few other times with Puckett, Sprague and Leyritz, if not for giving up those big hits and the Eric Gregg massive strike zone game for Livan Hernandez they could have won three or so more titles

Braves won 104 games. And didn’t have home field. Over the 98 win Phillies?
