I have the Akula 160... Fantastic skimmer. The build quality is amazing and it puts out a foam in the body that is so dense it looks like milk. I have the AC version and its so quiet there is no need for upgrading to the DC.
DC pumps perform great when new and clean, however with time they need constant fiddling/adjustment...just a pain and not worth the time or frustration. A good AC pump just works, set and forget. There are two places I will NEVER put a DC pump, skimmer and return. Been there done that.
actually have to disagree. i have had both ac and dc pumps in my reef for a return pump. my ac pumps would run quite and efficient but after a couple months they get loud and then fail around a year. now dc pumps are a different story. i have had the same dc pump running for 3 years no issue and still dead silent. i clean it once every two months then plug it back in and it runs fine. never have issues with re adjusting anything. just go back to the same speed on the controller and its good
Have this skimmer and its a chunky beast. Everything is incredibly well built and solid. Its almost comically solid!
Same! Be using mine for 2 years now. Definitely one of the best purchases I have ever made.
When Thomas does a video it’s a must watch!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Jebao making its way into BRS never thought I will see that day 👍🏽
I have had this and it was a great skimmer, only problem was the pump was a cheap chinese brand and failed 3 times in 7 months
This is sooo awesome!
Thomas always gets a 👍
