He definitely "hustled and put that extra effort in all of the time". He led the league in triples the second to last year of his career!

Not many people realize He was the First base coach on The 1967 Boston Red Sox. The Impossible Dream Year. 🙏

I met him when I was about 15 years old. My grandfather knew him. He made bats at one time. He even gave me a couple but I forgot to have him sign them. Great man and gentleman.

Let’s never forget the spirit of the game that brought us such phenomenal ball players! And those of some of the most historically significant teams that fed the fever of the American Pastime. Today, honestly the NFL cleaned up its filthy reputation to replace baseball as America!’s favorite sport.

The America that was: "....the ball hit the roof of the dugout and hit me in the mouth because I wasn't paying attention." America now: that ball hit me and I'm going to sue everyone here, including the peanut vendor.

    • @smallworldbigworld-yi3xw

Yea, but the peanut vendor will be okay, because he's suing everyone else for exposing him to the trauma : p
