    Hey Dan, its Max. The jack have really been on the bite lately, have not caught a cod somehow in over week but ive caught a few jack and a groper, was just letting ya know! The fish are really on the move at the moment.

    • @HardYakkaFishingKayaker
      @HardYakkaFishingKayaker  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers Max. Yeah i haven't been out for a fish of late but it is usually a good time for Jacks around here. I remember one morning it was 3 Deg C at 4am and the fish were fired up in one of the shallow creeks that day. This is usually the time of year we start to see more small Grouper in the creeks as well.

      @@HardYakkaFishingKayaker Yeah i was watchin one of ya other vids this morning and it was the 57cm groper, my mate caught one up 12 mile the other day and it was 63cm so the fishing isn't slow at the moment. But i guess the young fella's are stoppin ya from getting out haha!

      Champion Thanks Besh Nassif, it was a good trip. Need to get the drone out more. Most times the weather isn't the best for flying the drone although i still take it with me most trips. Eagles are a problem as well and like to come in and try take it lol. Need to keep an eye on the sky as well as from the phone. My PB is only 76cm. Don't hear of to many over that around this area but i'm sure they are around. 83 is huge. Cheers mate.

      Yeah mate im sure it will. Hey I see you use snap swivels on all your lures? People have always told me I should tie straight on to the lure? Do you think it makes much difference? if not im going switch to snap swivels! will same time and leader!! haha cheers

    • @HardYakkaFishingKayaker
      @HardYakkaFishingKayaker  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you get the right snaps you will rarely have any issues and its quick and easy to do lure swaps and you will save changing leader all the time. Make sure you use the heavy duty ones tho and not the cheaper ones.

    • @patrickward8356
      @patrickward8356 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for the reply! Can i ask what snaps you use? and do you still use them for soft plastics?

    • @HardYakkaFishingKayaker
      @HardYakkaFishingKayaker  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rouge and Black Magic, you want the short heavy duty ones without the swivel.

    Having recently been in the same situation myself, my heart was in my mouth as you tried to get that possible PB those last few inches into the net! It's sure is hard to stay calm when you have that adrenaline pumping. Well done mate.

    What happens if someone keeps the ones you've tagged? What would they do with the tag?

    • @HardYakkaFishingKayaker
      @HardYakkaFishingKayaker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Nicholas.
      If you catch a tagged fish its best to take a quick clear picture of the tag on a phone and grab a measurement if your releasing the fish again. If the tag is a bit dirty or has any weed growth on it just scrape the tag without pulling on it to reveal the number. Simply enter the details on Suntag and it will give you the growth, travel distance and capture location with a certificate of capture. It's fine to keep tagged fish for eating and the main purpose of tagging is to collect information on migration and growth rates of certain species so every recapture entered adds to the collected data.

    • @HardYakkaFishingKayaker
      @HardYakkaFishingKayaker  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should never put the net in the water

    • @HardYakkaFishingKayaker
      @HardYakkaFishingKayaker  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Sebatian. I find that having the net in the water prior to the fish approaching it better than trying to scoop at the fish next to the kayak. It helps prevent the fish spooking and taking off which can result in losing the fish with such a short amount of line out. Bring the fish to the net is the best approach from my experience.
