- We took my mom to a small village in the hills of Himachal to escape the scorching summer of the Indian plains. The climate there was just perfect and it made for the best family vacation I've ever had in India. One morning we decided to explore the village and the nearby hill on our own and left Annika with my mom. It was a small hike and we spent time in the apple orchards at the top with a guard dog. Annika was super excited to see us on our return. The rest of the day was so peaceful with us relaxing and enjoying food at our homestay at Hill Abode, Laida. I hope you enjoy our little family adventure from a day in our lives in Himachal :)

My name is Johanna North. I’m a Finnish woman who has been living and traveling in India since 2016. In 2019 I married and began living with my husband in the state of Kerala in southern India. On this channel I share videos on life, culture, food and travel mostly in India, and maybe from Finland when we travel there.

@@JohannaNorth Don't invest in any property with the intent to live for long term. These places give amazing experiences as tourists. But the lives of locals are difficult (for city dwellers atleast). My cousin tried to settle down in Kasol, Himachal (which is little more mainstream than this). But it was very difficult when his wife got pregnant- the nearest hospital was 10km away. Only one local pharmacy which also opens rarely. The roads are prone to landslide during monsoon. In city, we can walk 5 mins and buy anything we want from store. Here going to store everyday can be a difficult task too. Just take into consideration all these factors since you have a baby. I am not saying its not good life (no offence to fellow Indians). Living at one with nature is amazing. But it can be difficult too specially for people who are used to city lifestyle. Just give it a thought.

@@hssy2jrocker some very valid reasons to ponder on bf one make's this a permanent decision. The surrounding mountains look so soothing n relaxing...immersed in this environment it is tempting to come live here...perhaps not permanently. As pointed out esp in medical emergencies one may not hv the facilities here.
One thing I tell you mam when I see your family, I also want a family like yours family. I am from a very poor family and my father was a farmer. I saw how much he sacrificed for us. he gives himself to us. that's why today I am a software engineer and I work in a very good reputed company. I don't want to sacrifice myself that's why I don't want to marry. but when I see your blog I feel, I need a family like yours. your blog is very impactful for me, thank you for all those things. wish you very good health from god. and lots of love from me. God give you a more beautiful life ❣❣❣❣❣
Maybe in your case the sacrifice wont have to be as big as your dad’s. Though of course probably all of us parents have to give up certain things for family, but for some people m it doesnt feel like too big of a sacrifice! However I think that if you love the way your life is, you should never have to sacrifice it if you dont want to! Maybe you can be the cool uncle to all nieces and nephews, enjoy the good fun parts without the responsibility and sacrifice 😊❤
@@JohannaNorth absolutely I am also a traveller , I visited 7 country and right now I want to see whole world. And love my country . Western country have so many racism. when I visited Canada and Austria I face it . But I want see whole world ☺️❣️❣️ .

The place is awesome 😊 and adding to the natural surroundings each one of you has a different hair colour to summup its total party out there. I think not just us it's also memorable to rekindle the time spent on the hills. Hopefully when Annika grows up your videos will be a trip down memory lane ☺️.

Annika appears to always be experiencing profound joy in her act of walking. It's as if a switch is turned on to a state of expanded awareness. Maybe that's a sign of things to come in her life. 💋❤.
She HATES sitting down for even a slightly longer period 😂 that’s where showing her TH-cam videos comes handy. Impossible to even get her to stay put for breakfast otherwise

Johanna my favourite thing is also the local life. ❤️ I think that Tirthan is so BEAUTIFULLY authentic and lacks commercialism. Therefore making it the ideal place for visitors who want to absorb the local culture amongst SPECTACULAR surroundings. Some places in the Himalayas are superficial due to their vast tourism levels. And the fact that those places are over run with tourists can cause unsafe over crowding. So a vacation in Tirthan is perfection as you experience tradition without tourism trash. Perfect choice for your down time ❤️
All the development and tourism certainly has its pros and cons! We do certainly enjoy the quiet, off-beat places more, but in the end it's what's best for the locals that matters most and I'm not always sure what that is :)
@@JohannaNorth yes what's best for the good local people is definitely very important. I have lived in tourist places for 3 years now here in India so i know what they need from their feedback. It seems to be a good balance of tourism. They want moderate levels of tourism re not over run with people and not under run with people. The over running causes them too many disturbances and not having enough tourism of causes difficult times for those who almost wholly rely on it. Most of them rely on tourism in season time and farming off season. I love those type of people as they are so humble and lovely ❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️🕉️❤️

I too have wooden floor & door made of particular wood. And I learnt not just in Himachal but rest part of hilly areas, cold places even Finland they use wooden floor & wall in kitchen. And do Eskimo ( particular tribes) live in Finland 🇫🇮? Heard that they make house of snow ?
We don’t have eskimo tribes or such in Finland and no one really lives in houses of snow, but we do make them for fun 😊

It is sad Annika never has other children to play with.
Jealous for what they use for wood but honestly some of them structures don't look safe considering the rain or snow they might be receiving all those years ofc if it was weak why use would they use it aesthetic wise they are nice. our village home roof wooden frame always some attention like they r vitamin deficient idk.
Well the structures might not meet western safety regulations or such, but at the same time no one really has more knowledge on what kind of structures and materials are required in these conditions than the locals! 😊
