I grew up in a place just 20 minutes from Salento, closer to Armenia, and we still have our house there.

Yes I needed this! I'm planning a trip down to Guatemala within the next few months to attend a Spanish school and stay in a homestay! Your school and family seem incredible! Your family especially seems so nice and fun, I loved the scene when you were dancing. It was nice getting insight into a similar trip that I'm trying to plan. This video made me so excited!

Another excellent video. You really immerse yourself where you are, learning the language and living with a local family. Looked like you enjoyed the dance lesson, I tried salsa dancing twenty years ago and was always amazed at how fast my instructor could move his feet. Looking forward to the next update. I really enjoyed the video. . I know how good the feeling it is to learn a language I spent 4 years in the middle east and after a long time picked up the language ...its funny when you can hear people talking around you or about you and you know what's going on they get a shock tho when you answer them in there own language!!😅 ... but more importantly you get to know the people and the country really well !!! Well done keep up the great work you Top Banana !!

Hi Christianne! Really enjoying your Columbia series. It's really a beautiful country. Lovin the mountains and the scenery. A funny little trivia about "fartsy" cable cars that go up high. Changes in altitude (atmospheric pressure) can cause people's digestive tracts to produce and release these "pockets of bowel gas". Lol! Now you know! 👍😉

Don't worry about tap water in Colombia. It actually is one of the purest in the world because it comes from the Paramo, a high mountain ecosystem where sponge like plants called Frailejones absorb cloud moisture and turn it into water, then that water trickles downstream and becomes ponds, then rivers and finally reach one of the many reservoirs that produce energy as well as secure the drinking water of millions, then the waters gets treatment that meets all international standards and arrives to your home. Beware about the water in places like the Llanos (If you go) or La Guajira, high temperatures and high mosquito populations in these areas mean water is not as drinkable but for the most part, water in Colombia is clean and drinkable, there's no need for a special water bottle!! 🙂🙂

I feel nervous about doing a homestay alone in Colombia as a solo female traveller. I wish I had a male who was also doing it with me like you did, I'd want someone else there

Your video just fell in my inbox. TH-cam must be reading my mind, I’m thinking of moving to Bogotá later in the year and thinking about taking Spanish classes with either The Whee Institute or Nueva lengua. Why did you choose Whee? Great video by the way.
