There's a video here on TH-cam that shows how they harvest Angora fur, they basically tie it down and pull out it's fur by hand. Watch it if you have the stomach for it, be warned it's pretty damn difficult thing to see

I foster for them. They weren't going to euthanize the bunny unless it had severe, incurable illness that was making the bunny suffer. They make you sign the papers just in case it does end up having something horrible, it's for liability. When they do decide to euthanize, it's at the reccomendation of their vet, and they have a council of people come together and make a decision about what is best for the animal. They take it very seriously. PHS sends their bunnies to fosters, where they are well cared for and socialized. They even have regular zoom lectures on care and socialization for their fosters and people interested in fostering.
My partner adopted a cat that was deemed unadoptible because he had been in a shelter exposed feline leukemia and had ear mites, but Steve signed all kinds of waivers to adopt him and another cat (same parents, different litters). Both cats lived 17 years or more and I participated in their later lives. But yeh, signing that understanding is emotional from either direction. I'm glad you were able to rescue this sweetheart from that sort of uncertainty!
And unfortunately living creators die by the thousand everyday. This called life it's been happening and will continue to happen when you yourself are long and gone. I for one don't descriminate for life or death

My local humane society doesn't care for the small mammals properly at all. They get huge bowels of pellets 24/7, they split up bonded pairs, don't handle or interact with them at all, bunnies get almost no hay. They had my Quaker parrot in a cage with no perches and only seed for 2 months she clung to the bars and had to learn to reperch once she got home and has so many behavioral issues. They had 0 idea how to care for her or handle her, same with an Amazon parrot there for over a year due to wanting $3000 for him when most rescues are $500. They only took him to a vet 7 months after getting him due to me causing a ruckus online about his care. My Quaker was over priced by $250. They refused to give the birds to proper parrot rescues who knew what to do, or even listen to them about care or price dropping. My rabbit Snowball was split from his brother both babies were shaking and so scared, I couldn't even meet his brother for a bunny date as they couldn't get him out of a tiny cage. Once Snowball saw my girl he just ran to her and stuck to her out of fear of everything going on. She didn't mind luckily. None of the workers care about the small mammals, they also have a poor bird they keep permanently. He's ignored and fed horrible food. He does anything for any small amount of attention.

Yes, not to be rude but I don’t really like dogs (just my opinion) and I think that people don’t like rabbits, chickens, birds, and prey animals because they consider them as “food” but really and especially chickens people don’t care when they pass away. And they just say “it was a chicken, a chicken is food.” And that’s not okay! I’ve had one chicken pass away, but for about a year she was my best friend!❤️so it isn’t just a chicken or just a rabbit. It is your best friend, your family, and sometimes even the best thing in your life. And those people would be sad if I said that it was just a dog, so those people need to understand that is rude.

I've had hamsters, so I know what it's like to love animals that aren't as cared for and the fact that not many people know the proper care for them. Smaller animals AND FARM ANIMALS definitely don't get treated equally to cats and dogs and it's quite sad. :(
When she adopted back the bunny it brought me to tears. I can’t imagine my bunny ever going through something like this and no bunny deserves this. So happy she’s in a good home now and I hope she finds her forever home soon ❤️

I died when Vicky showed up. She is an amazing woman!! Great job saving this bunnies life.. schools are a common place for bunnies to be dumped. There was a huge colony of rabbits at my high school Orange High School in Orange CA not sure if they are still there. There were sooo many babies. If only I knew then what I know now....
I would just like to say thank you to Lorelei, she just saved a rabbits life. Without her this rabbit would have been eaten or would have starved to death, but she saved her instead of just leaving her there. No rabbit, cat, dog, bird, or any animal should be left on the side of a rode or anywhere alone, that is just cruel. So thank you Lorelei, you saved that rabbits life❤️and now she is in a great home with a loving owner.

@Temporary Account Even so it's unreasonable for the average rabbit owner to keep one rabbit. My friendly sweet girl become so much happier after she got a friend. Other rabbits make most buns thrive. Lennon is a ESA and her owner is allergic to rabbits so it's a special case.
@Temporary Account Some rabbits won't bond to others or can't be with others, but most do best with other buns. A lot of rescue rabbits are fearful of humans and want little contact with their owner, that's not fulfilling their social needs at all. It can work if your buns adores you and cuddle time but that's not the average rabbit.
@Temporary Account Definitely. It's likely yours weren't abused or left to fend for themselves, just unwanted. In my city most buns are brought in from hoarding cases, or off the streets. They're afraid of humans. All three of mine have been through horrible situations and are iffy about pets. Most popular rabbits on social media either aren't rescues or didn't have much trauma related to humans as the majority of rescues. My boy would have never changed without another rabbit, I just hope his brother got a friend too. Snowball was the more confident pf the pair and they were split sadly. Also are you sure your rescue gets the buns as singles? Many separate bonded pairs to make them more adoptable. It's just pain and suffering for separated pairs.
GIRL! THANK YOU for putting that humane society worker in their place! I teared up because that bunnies life matters just as much as those other animals 🥺 ugh got me so emotional. I wish the general public felt as strongly about these little critters as they did about cats and dogs!
My bunny was found in a very similar way! My sister found him running loose in her neighborhood. He was so easy to catch too, she just gave him some blueberries and then scooped him! So glad you were able to save this bunny :)
This is how our humane society is in my area and I won’t take fur babies to them. Any of them dumped near my home have stayed with me or I vetted myself and found homes for!! It’s sad how these people operate!! You’re awesome for caring as much as you do!!
I can't believe a humane society would just turn away a stray rabbit and tell you to 'take it back from where it came from' - honestly, you don't know who originally owned the rabbit in the first place before deciding to ditch the rabbit somewhere; let alone return it to a place where it may have not survived if someone hadn't intervened. You [Lorelei] had a right to call out that humane society for suggesting that in the first place, even if you suspected it was a 'test' to see if the person is willing to give up their pet(s).

I don't own a rabbit myself (I hope to get one in the future but now's not the time yet), but I wouldn't just dump my pet fish into the nearest body of water - there were even PSAs around my city ( I live in Canada) advising people not to dump their fish if they can't take care of them anymore.

I’m so glad you eventually got the bunny to a rescue instead of the Humane Society. They didn’t seem to want the bunny in the first place so I just can’t imagine they would have kept her alive if she took “too long” to be adopted. Also the fact that she didn’t contract RHDV2 is a miracle even beyond surviving all the predators in the wild. What a sweet, lucky little angel she is, too. She’s so calm at being approached! My bunny who I’ve had for seven wonderful years wouldn’t let me approach him as calmly as she let you! 😂 Thank you so much for rescuing her. I think you’re right, if that was a puppy no one would think it was okay to just leave it in the wild. A cat maybe - I’ve known too many people who are fine with feral cats, even if it’s not good for the cat or the local wildlife - but no way would a dog be left there to suffer. Bunnies just aren’t recognized as worth much, and it drives me crazy because I’ve never had a pet with as much personality, spark, and love as my bunny. All animals deserve care, but bunnies are special to me. Thank you so much for saving this little one, and for spreading the word about rescues. 💗
also LOVE your attitude to the humane society. They will not listen to a “calm” person. They are disgusting. My humane society has 6+ rabbits and if they come in pairs they make sure u get both! and they do not euthanize any animals
Thank you Lorelei for all you do for these bunnies! I just rescued a beautiful black bunny from a nursing home parking lot that I work at. You could tell it was released by someone because she came right up to me. Our rabbit society said they wouldn’t take any rabbits in, so we are trying to get it trusting and adopt her out to someone we feel is right for her. So sad people dump rabbits.
I also have a triple group of rabbits, Athena, Pepper and Cinnamon (I named Athena and Cinnamon, Pepper came with the name). Athena and Pepper were both recues (Technically Pepper was Surrendered to me from someone who "Didn't have time for her anymore").
I started to cry when you decided to adopt her! I could relate to your frustration when you said that if it was a cat or a dog people would help it straight away but not a bunny. You are a bunny saver and I hope that "JLO" finds a home 🥰I have a mini lop and they are like dogs! mine comes up to the fridge and asks for food and he runs around the house like a dog! We rescued an 8-10 week old baby girl bunn dumped at a grocery store parking lot.. I am thankful she survived and is with a wonderful small rescue near me

little over a month ago i adopted a beautiful dutch x bunny named elune (originally rabunzel). i saw her around the end of december when i was adopting my 3 rat babies and thought what a sweet baby but i had already just got 2 baby bunnies from a friends accidental litter and couldnt take another on. fast forward a few months later i was looking at the shelters website and saw she was still there. applied that day and adopted her not 2 days later. she was so shy and now shes the most loving and cuddly little angel. adopting her was literally the best decision ive ever made.

im so glad that they made sure the bunny got vaccinated and make sure the bunny was healthy. but what i find super weird is that they were like declining the bunny from the center. arent animals centers supposed to help. im so glad you got the bunny back after the long process

I died when Vicky showed up. She is an amazing woman!! Great job saving this bunnies life.. schools are a common place for bunnies to be dumped. There was a huge colony of rabbits at my high school Orange High School in Orange CA not sure if they are still there. There were sooo many babies. If only I knew then what I know now....

I would just like to say thank you to Lorelei, she just saved a rabbits life. Without her this rabbit would have been eaten or would have starved to death, but she saved her instead of just leaving her there. No rabbit, cat, dog, bird, or any animal should be left on the side of a rode or anywhere alone, that is just cruel. So thank you Lorelei, you saved that rabbits life❤️and now she is in a great home with a loving owner.

@Temporary Account not always. Some bunnies bond quickly some take time. It depends on the rabbit.
@Temporary Account Even so it's unreasonable for the average rabbit owner to keep one rabbit. My friendly sweet girl become so much happier after she got a friend. Other rabbits make most buns thrive. Lennon is a ESA and her owner is allergic to rabbits so it's a special case.
@Temporary Account Some rabbits won't bond to others or can't be with others, but most do best with other buns. A lot of rescue rabbits are fearful of humans and want little contact with their owner, that's not fulfilling their social needs at all. It can work if your buns adores you and cuddle time but that's not the average rabbit.
@Temporary Account Definitely. It's likely yours weren't abused or left to fend for themselves, just unwanted. In my city most buns are brought in from hoarding cases, or off the streets. They're afraid of humans. All three of mine have been through horrible situations and are iffy about pets. Most popular rabbits on social media either aren't rescues or didn't have much trauma related to humans as the majority of rescues. My boy would have never changed without another rabbit, I just hope his brother got a friend too. Snowball was the more confident pf the pair and they were split sadly. Also are you sure your rescue gets the buns as singles? Many separate bonded pairs to make them more adoptable. It's just pain and suffering for separated pairs.

My bunny was found in a very similar way! My sister found him running loose in her neighborhood. He was so easy to catch too, she just gave him some blueberries and then scooped him! So glad you were able to save this bunny :)
This is how our humane society is in my area and I won’t take fur babies to them. Any of them dumped near my home have stayed with me or I vetted myself and found homes for!! It’s sad how these people operate!! You’re awesome for caring as much as you do!!

I can't believe a humane society would just turn away a stray rabbit and tell you to 'take it back from where it came from' - honestly, you don't know who originally owned the rabbit in the first place before deciding to ditch the rabbit somewhere; let alone return it to a place where it may have not survived if someone hadn't intervened.
You [Lorelei] had a right to call out that humane society for suggesting that in the first place, even if you suspected it was a 'test' to see if the person is willing to give up their pet(s).
I live in orange county, LA county is right near me and the shelters/organizations here did the same to me it was so frustrating!

I don't own a rabbit myself (I hope to get one in the future but now's not the time yet), but I wouldn't just dump my pet fish into the nearest body of water - there were even PSAs around my city ( I live in Canada) advising people not to dump their fish if they can't take care of them anymore.

I’m so glad you eventually got the bunny to a rescue instead of the Humane Society. They didn’t seem to want the bunny in the first place so I just can’t imagine they would have kept her alive if she took “too long” to be adopted. Also the fact that she didn’t contract RHDV2 is a miracle even beyond surviving all the predators in the wild. What a sweet, lucky little angel she is, too. She’s so calm at being approached! My bunny who I’ve had for seven wonderful years wouldn’t let me approach him as calmly as she let you! 😂 Thank you so much for rescuing her.
I think you’re right, if that was a puppy no one would think it was okay to just leave it in the wild. A cat maybe - I’ve known too many people who are fine with feral cats, even if it’s not good for the cat or the local wildlife - but no way would a dog be left there to suffer. Bunnies just aren’t recognized as worth much, and it drives me crazy because I’ve never had a pet with as much personality, spark, and love as my bunny. All animals deserve care, but bunnies are special to me. Thank you so much for saving this little one, and for spreading the word about rescues. 💗
also LOVE your attitude to the humane society. They will not listen to a “calm” person. They are disgusting. My humane society has 6+ rabbits and if they come in pairs they make sure u get both! and they do not euthanize any animals

Thank you Lorelei for all you do for these bunnies! I just rescued a beautiful black bunny from a nursing home parking lot that I work at. You could tell it was released by someone because she came right up to me. Our rabbit society said they wouldn’t take any rabbits in, so we are trying to get it trusting and adopt her out to someone we feel is right for her. So sad people dump rabbits.

Oh, I forgot to say, the name J.LO is such a cute name!!!! I just got a little bunny and I named her SHUSHPI!!! Now I have 3 bunnies! YAY!
I also have a triple group of rabbits, Athena, Pepper and Cinnamon (I named Athena and Cinnamon, Pepper came with the name). Athena and Pepper were both recues (Technically Pepper was Surrendered to me from someone who "Didn't have time for her anymore").
I started to cry when you decided to adopt her! I could relate to your frustration when you said that if it was a cat or a dog people would help it straight away but not a bunny. You are a bunny saver and I hope that "JLO" finds a home 🥰I have a mini lop and they are like dogs! mine comes up to the fridge and asks for food and he runs around the house like a dog! That is very irresponsible advice to give as someone working there. The in no way said or insinuated that they hated the Humane Society or the person, just that the response was not good in their opinion.
For a second there I thought you were keeping the bunny.... but this was awesome of you to keep pushing the humane society, you rescued the rabbit, you even saved it from potentially getting Euthanized.
I got my little max from there. They are very good to the animals, my max was going to be euthanized cause his previous owners accidentally ran over him with the car, and they were able to save his life. BTW max is a dog, they are very nice to animals. I got him from the Pasadena humane society, they are the best in the world. I don't appreciate your opinion. Sorry if you hate what im saying, but I am speaking my mind, unsubscribing. But I have seen that bunny before because that high school is in my district, and they give her lots of love. A Humane Society near me sells rabbits for 5$. They keep the rabbits in cages with water bottles and pellets only.😡
And I also saw another Humane Society website online, and their “rabbit care guide” taught AWFUL care😢

little over a month ago i adopted a beautiful dutch x bunny named elune (originally rabunzel). i saw her around the end of december when i was adopting my 3 rat babies and thought what a sweet baby but i had already just got 2 baby bunnies from a friends accidental litter and couldnt take another on. fast forward a few months later i was looking at the shelters website and saw she was still there. applied that day and adopted her not 2 days later. she was so shy and now shes the most loving and cuddly little angel. adopting her was literally the best decision ive ever made.

GI stasis is treatable. If you ever decide to adopt another bunny, research online on how to treat one when in stasis.
@@ilovedogsandcats271 shelters usually treat dogs and cats better than other animals. As seen on 5:56 it's obvious they have no knowledge on rabbits and we're potentially going to euthanize the rabbit so go pound sand.
