    I have had a lot of respect for Ethan Becker for many years. he does an amazing job of designing for the people that want to use them hard. I have several BK knives, and they perform well above their cost.

    Yep, I now own a BK9, and the knife is great. What isn't so great is the nylon/plastic sheath, and the handle scales on the knife. Yes I can get new handle scales, but I should not have too. Besides those things are expensive. I am however, getting a custom leather sheath for mine. Yes I like leather. Becker did a good job on the knife. Wish that had extended to the sheath and handle scales.

    Ethan is right on the stone age tools.
    Humans back then had hand axes made from stone, knives also.
    Cody Lundin gets around pretty well with a sharp stone (if needed ofcourse).
    And so can we all, if we really have to.
    I like the BK7 myself.

    Why didn't you ask him why they don't come up with new grips or at least rubber coating those plastic grips? A majority of the people that own a BK9 hate the grips claiming them as slippery if your hand sweats a little bit. Or why they don't come up with a leather sheath at least like a K-Bar sheath. Something simple and not elaborate.

    Far to big...I do own the 9 ...however I prefer the bk10 crewman...same just shorter blade...does the chopping and wacking I need it to do and the finer stuff...problem with the 9 is it don't do small things well. Carrying it on my side was just to much. Bk10 all the way

      I have the BK12, which is the ESEE collaboration. That's a pretty sweet knife too. I have always been interested in the BK10, but never got my hands on one. I really found the BK7 is a sweet spot and one hell of a performer.

    The BK7 cant do what the BK9 can do.

    • @greekveteran2715
      @greekveteran2715 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      and vise versa, which means BK9 can chop slghtly deeper,however the BK7 can do all the other knife jobs better...and that's a lot of jobs and what we a ctually use a knife for. Ethan Becker's best designs are the BK16 then the BK7 and 3d the BK9. BK2 may sell like crazy, but that's because of goodmarketing and mostly because people don't know about knives, just buy what they tell them to buy. It's way to thick and too heavy for it's size, which also shows on it's bad blade geometry too.

      @@greekveteran2715 bit late reading your replies, I was edging towards the BK7 before the 9 , I figured it would do more job's well, I can see the 9 cuts in deeper when chopping but as far as I can see that's were the advantages end. In your opinion is the BK7 a better choice.

    • @greekveteran2715
      @greekveteran2715 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheDavewatts BK7 is a much better knife. Both are great, but I would choose the BK 7.
      If you want the handle, to feel and perform like Micarta, get a low grit sandpaper (around 250 gritt) and create some random scratches on it. Put a small piece of sandpaper in your thumb, and push either random scratches on the plastic part of the handle, or go with "X" by doing diagonally scratches. Don't do many, check many times in between, to see when it will reach the feel of Micarta. Just don't over do it!!!

    • @TheDavewatts
      @TheDavewatts ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@greekveteran2715 Thanks for getting back so quickly, I was edging towards the BK7, it looked like a more all rounder, good idea with the sandpaper, appreciate the tip.👍🏻

      @greekveteran2715 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheDavewatts You can make it both grip and feel better, than G10 does. Almost feels like Micarta! I love that mod! You will love the feel of the design in your hands, no other knife comes close ( I own 540$ Mille Cuori, but it doesn't have the great design of the BK7, neither the edge stability!) Wish you luck Dave and be careful that knife gets VERY sharp!!
