  • This is my full review of the Rode Broadcaster microphone for voice-over and podcasting applications. This is the premier voice-over microphone from Rode and will deliver high-quality and premium voice recordings for Podcasting. The Rode Broadcaster is a condenser microphone that will work with any 48v+ desk or interface. I am recording the audio in this video using my Rodecaster Pro.

    Epic review Shane, I just picked one up one, eBay last week and excited to take delivery.
    Regarding boom arm, I gave mine a few squirts of WD40 and they’ve never made a noise since.

    Definitely a clear improvement over the Rødecaster, but I might want a de-esser on my channel with the Broadcaster.

    It really picks up the keyboard and sSSSs sounds. But a very nice sound and tone when you speak.

    I bought a broadcaster a while back for super cheap on ebay, it's been my favorite purchase of all time.
    It helps that I also got it for less than a Procaster lmao.

    Wooow amazing comparison, thanks ! I was planning to buy procaster but broadcaster is far superior. But I guess procaster is still a better choice for me because I don’t have a treated room :)

    Tremendous proximity effect. As you moved even a little distance from the mic the vocal volume was dramatic.

    I bought mine at the end of financial year sales and saved a motza. What a wonderful mic. I think I have around 10 Rodes all up and all are brilliant. A great review. Thanks Shane.

    Listening on Bose QC 45 I prefer the Procaster which I actually just purchased. The broadcaster seems a bit biased on the highs I could simply eq to get it how I’d like but I’d saved a few coins or will do eq less with the Procaster

    Great review Shane
    Was on the fence but you have convinced me to get one.
    Think i'm gonna pull the trigger on a used Broadcaster.
    Wanted to ask about your DBX 286s.
    Is it plugged into your Rodecaster Pro. I got one recently plugged into my Zoom P8 via 1/4 TRS to XLR.
    Using my Shure SM7b my results are terrible.
    Do you think it's the cable, would 1/4" TRS to 1/4 TRS cable work better? (Zoom P8 does not have 1/4" input).
    Cheers

      I sold the DBX recently. The Rodecaster did the job pretty great with a SE Dynamite for dynamic mics and the setup was a lot cleaner. The DBX is a better unit but I needed a new recording device so it worked out well. The broadcaster works great just plugged directly into anything.

      Hi Daniel. Yep, it's an LED indicator letting you know the mic is powered/on.

    Hi mate,
    I have a question about my youtube setup, also some of my Commerical photography, and videography works -
    I m considering sl60w
    but my question is that is sl60w enough powerful for me,
    currently, I m using Lumix g85 with kit lens 12-60mm and I also considered a 90cm dual layer of diffusion softbox with grid, kind of 6-8 feet from the subject and same distance between subject and camera also, can I m able achieve iso 200 particularly for 30fps 4k 100mbps setting with a shutter speed of double of my fps because natural video motion effects, what's ur opinion✌✌

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't own one of those lights but my lightboxes (under $100 for a pair) work fine in this room. It really depends on how you light a room as to which one works best for you. The SL60 might be a good option for spot lighting a subject.

    The clues are in the names....
    *Broadcaster:* radio show, studio interviews, any type of voice recording in highly controlled noise-free environments (i.e. no clicking keyboards, pens, etc)
    *Podcaster:* voice recording in less than perfect environments (i.e. untreated home podcast studio, random ad hoc interviews in random locations, etc)

    A contender to challenge the Shure SM7B

    • @GeekyNerdyTechy
      @GeekyNerdyTechy  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think this wipes the floor with the SM7B in terms of tonality and ease of use but the Shure is a great mic either way. :)
