He does chew his food. But mostly those parts are cut or fast forwarded. To make the mukbang more appealing they usually only show the slurping part.

There's a fact that the less you chew your food, the more you eat.
I think the reason why he needs to eat more, is because he doesn't chew much and just shovels and swallows everything.
