YES, THE BADDESS BITCH OF ALL TIME, LOVE MY MADONNA, THANKS TO HER, SHE MADE CHRISTIAN AGULIRA AND OTHER WHITE FEMALE ARTIST WHO THEY ARE, MADONNA IS A LEGEND OF OUR TIME
True story- I was 11 years old in 83 and I remember sitting in the back of a Honda with my head back and looking at the stars ( We lived in the country and the stars were bright) and this awesome song was playing on the radio 📻 I have loved Madonna ever since and saw her in concert twice!
She was controversial back then, but looking at what's happening now she was cool and pretty decent. I always wished I could be like her. What girl didn't? She still has it. Wow! I've been a fan since day one. She dances so great the Dance Theater of Harlem wanted her. That's saying a lot! Go baby! She's got more than luck. More like amazing, incredible, long lasting talent. Love you Madonna forever.
Hard to believe it's been 40 years since this was released. "Holiday" and "Lucky Star" were the first two Madonna songs the majority of the public ever heard, in late '83 and early '84. I was surprised to find that "Lucky Star" only peaked at #4 on Billboard at the time, because it was SO omnipresent on the radio in '84 that I could have sworn it hit #1. Still, #4 ain't shabby, and apparently it was her first top 5 hit.
Has it? Wow. I was a teenager in junior high school when I heard this song and loved it. Was it in 1981 or 1982 this song? I was in junior high school and high school during the 80’s. In junior high I tried my hardest to dress like Madonna. I even had black lace gloves similar to hers. A female classmate wore them and nicked ‘em. I was annoyed at her. When I asked her she made excuses for not wearing them and said she didn’t know where they were. I knew she was lying.
@@NYCSouthernGirl1 Very true...in late 1983 she broke through. In 1984 she became a star with "Lucky Star" and "Like A Virgin". But it wasn't until 1985 when the string of hits continued, one after the other after the other ("Material Girl", "Dress You Up", "Angel", "Crazy For You", "Into The Groove"--five smash hits in one year!) that it became apparent she was going to be one of the biggest stars of the decade, on a par with Jackson and Prince.
it would have had to be a bar wired with cable TV whose carrier carried MTV (not all of them did) and you would have had to be there at the particular time they aired this. it ain't like it is today, kids.
First time I ever laid eyes on Madonna was this video on MTV and I've been along for the ride ever since. She's never failed to impress me with her talent and vision. She was self-made and ambitious at the very start which lead to her selling 400 million records world-wide over the last 40 years. And I've enjoyed every minute.

I was born in 79 so Madonna was part of the soundtrack for my childhood, early adulthood and now that I am in my 40's I still listen. lol .Thank you Madonna for a lifetime of beautiful music. Queen of Pop. 🌹
I HAD THOSE SAME STAR EARRINGS SHE IS WEARING. I BOUGHT THE EARRINGS BACK IN THE SUMMER 1985 IN GREENWICH AREA IN THE NYC. I USED TO WEAR THE EARRINGS ALL THE TIME IN THE 1980’s. THOSE SUNGLASSES WERE ICONIC AND VERY POPULAR BACK IN THE 1980’s.
I was at a nightclub, heard about 5 secs of this and I was on the dance floor. When over, I asked "Who was THAT?" to the D.J., ...MADONNA...I was hooked. Aaah, the 80's.
Lori, same here. my mom and i both loved Madonna. my mom was not really a fan of her image but we both enjoyed her music. i had my Madonna wannabe moments too, i would style my hair like her, i had the same star earrings, hair bows, lace everything, the rubber bracelets (my favorite), etc., all the fun edgy shops had Madonna inspired clothes and accessories. such a fun carefree time to grow up. plus, i knew every move of this dance. Madonna was so unique back then. not surprised i wanted to be like her in that era⭐
My dentist used to play Madonna's and M. Jackson's videos in the waiting room back in '90s, in order to "chill" her patients. I was just a kid with dentist phobia back then. Every tooth fix and/or extraction were done with these kind of music. I'm not afraid anymore. The best dentist ever!!!!
My dentist also gave me a walkman with MJ Bad therein .. it was handy for taking the mind off the dental work and his glass eye closeup whilst working on my teeth
"The ones that said I was talentless, that I couldn't sing, that I was a one-hit wonder. They pushed me to be better, and I am grateful for their resistance." - Madonna 38 years of art, music, fashion, activism, philanthropy, reinvention, and impact.
She became the most prolific single-female performer sometime in the mid-1980s, and the records she wiped out were set by Connie Francis in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Nobody has come close to her since. That's a Cal Ripken record. She'll hold that record as long as such things are charted.

A top favorite's of mine by Madonna; ✌ peace and respect to Madonna for sharing such richness of her spirit that plays importance in my life while in my teenage body form.↗😘

Her ad libs in the final verse starting at 3:16 are unreal - iconic isn’t a strong enough word - they ARE that time, all wrapped up in a singular vocal take, every emotion I get when I reflect back on those years is RIGHT THERE.

Out of all the singles Madonna generates in her debut album, the best song in my opinion is this one. Other singles include her first Hot 100 debut "Holiday" and her first Top 10 hit, "Borderline". This was her first Top 5 which reached #4.

Jess S - There is a wonderful video of her that kicks off her Virgin Tour. When she REALLLLY became famous. I have it on VHS. I was 12! Ah! Loved her so much. She was enigmatic and unafraid. Google "Madonna I had a dream I went to New York" in quotes just like that, and you'll find it. This woman simply followed her dreams. Would. Not. Let. Up. And today she not only a beloved artist, but one of the smartest, most business savvy women in the world. There will NEVER be another Madonna. She was 20 when this album was released. Her debut album, which was actually sort of still under the radar before Like a Virgin caught the world's attention. She's a special, one. Born to be a star. Some just... are.

Bassist of this song is crazy
👌
Amazing song !!!!
The most successful female singer!!!!!!!!!
YES, THE BADDESS BITCH OF ALL TIME, LOVE MY MADONNA, THANKS TO HER, SHE MADE CHRISTIAN AGULIRA AND OTHER WHITE FEMALE ARTIST WHO THEY ARE, MADONNA IS A LEGEND OF OUR TIME
I feel you but she still a legend I also think it all dued to the sounds system it not like it was in the 80 and 90s since music changed so much
Madonna is the Queen of pop!!!!!!
monoenlanc im also totally in love with her....... shes so howt
Um.. beyonce?? Janet jackson?? Nice try
True story- I was 11 years old in 83 and I remember sitting in the back of a Honda with my head back and looking at the stars ( We lived in the country and the stars were bright) and this awesome song was playing on the radio 📻 I have loved Madonna ever since and saw her in concert twice!
What a beautiful memory. Madonna truly is the world’s biggest star⭐️
That's an awesome story.
Ready to fuck!
I envy you. I lived with starry nights too but no Madonna. Just cold crisp Andean nights.
Awwww
80’s icon … good time to be young. So much good music!
The way Madonna bits her lip in this, she’s limited edition, was so ahead of the times.
She was of the time. Lip biting existed then. 😂🙄
Todo razón tienes
Michael Jackson and Prince ruled 83-84...she was coming up. Not too shabby at all 😊
@@NYCSouthernGirl1 Very true...in late 1983 she broke through.
👍🔥
Besides Madonna’s voice and the catchy chorus, the guitar 🎸work on this track is fantastic.
Been with Madonna since "Everybody", still with her today
I remember when this came out. I was in a bar and back then they would show the music video. Still my favourite song by Madonna.
What bar were you at I'm in Los Angeles ca May, 10,2024
Awww. My favorite is Borderline!! 😂
True story -- This is pretty much a lock playing in every casino across the country at least 2 times a day.
it would have had to be a bar wired with cable TV whose carrier carried MTV (not all of them did) and you would have had to be there at the particular time they aired this. it ain't like it is today, kids.
There are a few great artist's and Madonna = G.O.A.T 🐐. This woman has put in her time for music.
Great synth lines and absolutely ahead of time.
The lyrics is so clean so timeless so pure so poetic.
You must be my lucky star
'Cause you shine on me
Wherever you are
I just think of you
And I start to glow
And I need your light
And baby you know
Starlight, star bright
First star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright
Make everything alright
Starlight, star bright
First star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright, yeah!
You must be my lucky star
'Cause you make the darkness seem so far
And when I'm lost
You'll be my guide
I just turn around
And you're by my side
Starlight, star bright
First star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright
Make everything alright
Starlight, star bright
First star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright, yeah!
C'mon, shine your heavenly body tonight
'Cause I know you're gonna make everything alright
Um, c'mon, shine your heavenly body tonight
'Cause I know you're gonna make everything alright
You may be my lucky star
But I'm the luckiest by far
Starlight, star bright
First star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright
Make everything alright
Starlight, star bright
First star I see tonight
Starlight, star bright, yeah!
C'mon, shine your heavenly body tonight
'Cause I know you're gonna make everything alright
Um, c'mon, shine your heavenly body tonight
'Cause I know you're gonna make everything alright
you may be my lucky star
(But I'm the luckiest by far) what you do to me, baby?
(You may be my lucky star) you know?
But I'm the luckiest by far
Starlight, star bright, baby
Starlight, star bright
Stay by my side tonight
What you do to me, baby?

MADONNA YOU ARE THE BEST FOREVER.
This song has always been so special to me❤
I was born in 79 so Madonna was part of the soundtrack for my childhood, early adulthood and now that I am in my 40's I still listen. lol .Thank you Madonna for a lifetime of beautiful music. Queen of Pop. 🌹

So u were four when this came out?.
♥️🤍💓💕💞✅.
79 is that all LOL.. You're borderline Millenial by a year. Born in 71, knew Madonna as teenager. Thought I was a tad late!
Madonna is so beautiful!!!!!!!!!

This was the first 🥇 Madonna song I ever listened to, and certainly not the last, your no#1 Madonna 👍🙏.
Nobody compares to Madonna. The original dance queen! Who spent hours learning her dances and finding the exact same clothes, jewelry and hair???
I was at a nightclub, heard about 5 secs of this and I was on the dance floor. When over, I asked "Who was THAT?" to the D.J., ...MADONNA...I was hooked. Aaah, the 80's.

was an still is a role model for us teen girls back in the 80s.

I wish her songs were play at my school dance back in 2002.

I remember it was a lot of fun in Dallas and in Cali that's for sure.
Madonna first album still has me mesmerized in 1983 I was 18 and us girls dressed like her, ahead of her time,so beautiful .
Madonna was so unique back then. not surprised i wanted to be like her in that era⭐
i think i remember seeing her influence in some movies from the 80s ❤❤
My dentist used to play Madonna's and M. Jackson's videos in the waiting room back in '90s, in order to "chill" her patients. I was just a kid with dentist phobia back then. Every tooth fix and/or extraction were done with these kind of music. I'm not afraid anymore. The best dentist ever!!!!
My dentist also gave me a walkman with MJ Bad therein .. it was handy for taking the mind off the dental work and his glass eye closeup whilst working on my teeth
Some dentists are really cool and they understand the psychology of their patients
Hahaha great job 🔥

"The ones that said I was talentless, that I couldn't sing, that I was a one-hit wonder. They pushed me to be better, and I am grateful for their resistance." - Madonna
38 years of art, music, fashion, activism, philanthropy, reinvention, and impact.
She became the most prolific single-female performer sometime in the mid-1980s, and the records she wiped out were set by Connie Francis in the late 1950s and early 1960s. Nobody has come close to her since.
That's a Cal Ripken record. She'll hold that record as long as such things are charted.
👋💯💯💯👑 at a premier of one of her childrens book a reporter said " you've been at the top for decades now, what do you have to say to your worst critic?" she simply said " so there!" thats why shes the queen lol!!! love her so much. 👋💯🤗👑👑
And yet, she's still an irrelevant flop who kipes all her moves from people better than she.
Wtg Madonna you never gave up!
This video was cutting edge when it came out....the proof is that it holds up almost 40 years later.....it is weird I was in Ala Moana Sears in Honolulu in 84 and this was on one of the tv s in the tv department....I stopped to watch for a moment with some cool/handsome dudes who were watching and talking about how hot Madge was...... and then I moved on....it is weird some of the shit that sticks in ur brain....this whole episode maybe lasted 10 seconds and it is seared into my brain like it took place last week.....
Man loved all her music 🎵 use listen 🎧 with tape player
A top favorite's of mine by Madonna; ✌ peace and respect to Madonna for sharing such richness of her spirit that plays importance in my life while in my teenage body form.↗😘
Gosh, summer of '84 was my most favorite. All the summer songs were hits even this gem by Madonna. She had some super great songs and can dance.
Love it
I agree, for instance she did the same in the summer of 1989 with "Like a prayer".
Yes she took dance amazing dancer
This song was big at that time I was 3 and it's all I heard in Los Angeles 🤩
Well, the timeline would be I believe this is 1983 for Lucky Star , but yes 84 was even better because it’s when she really blew up on the scene and was about to become a global sensation
Reminds me how great it was being a teenager in the 80s. ♥️
It was great to be in my young twenties.
Got into all the dance clubs !!

@@dawnsstar5918 Yes 100%
Her ad libs in the final verse starting at 3:16 are unreal - iconic isn’t a strong enough word - they ARE that time, all wrapped up in a singular vocal take, every emotion I get when I reflect back on those years is RIGHT THERE.
Nothing beats those keyboard synth sounds
Classic analog since they were all over New York City radio, coupled with a top producer is how this happened.
Fred Zarr
Madonna played this song in concert at Hoover Junior High School in Early October of 1982, and rocked the house. $4.00 tickets
I was in my 30s when this was a huge hit. It was played at all of the clubs and we danced to it every time that it came on.

I first heard this song at 18,19. I was in love! She was so just, different and captivating and courageous. I love this song and this album!
Her debut album had some really underrated productions
Out of all the singles Madonna generates in her debut album, the best song in my opinion is this one. Other singles include her first Hot 100 debut "Holiday" and her first Top 10 hit, "Borderline". This was her first Top 5 which reached #4.
The FACT that this song gets me moving and grabs me in 2023 as it did the first time I heard it says everything you need to know about Madonna! One and only!!🧡💛💫💫

White background, two backup dancers, thrift shop clothes and accessories. But it has Madonna in it. And so this video became legendary and iconic.
One was her brother and the other was her friend.
Whatever. omg was she beautiful and she could sing and dance. This was like just the beginning of her rocking our world on mtv and radio. Hope she's having a wonderful life wherever she is

She all that ...she my favorite forever
Some just... are.
