Actually in manga (believe me I'm not spoiling anything) tanjiro just speed run through these trainings specially uzui's training. I'm glad to see ufotable is adding more concrete story to it. Just remember its just a buildup for the next arc and believe me you all are not ready for what's coming.

2:22 He actually has been that big ever since Rengoku died hes been working his ass off to get better and you see the results of that during the second episode of Season 2(He also gets his first big battle scar thanks to Daki in that season)and you see it again in season 3 when Tanjiro and Genya bath in the hot springs together.
Its just easy to forget that with how good natured our boy Tanjiro is that hes also packing a strong battle with battle scars. 😂
