    Makes perfect sense why Ruby is lashing out. She's not just the leader of team RWBY, she's literally been THE leader. Qrow sank into alcoholism and depression, Ozpin lost the trust of the team and hid, Lionheart was a traitor, and Ironwood turned on them. Every adult authority figure has failed Ruby and her friends and left her with all the responsibility, which has caused her to pile all of the blame for everything onto herself. The closest to sharing responsibility she got was the mini split in Volume 8 where Yang led half the team, but that didn't last very long.

    • @30ajgo
      @30ajgo ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but that is something she decided she wanted to do. Lashing out at a time like that ain’t gonna do much for anyone especially when it’s your fault when you’re THE leader. Plus your close friends are trying to help but you lash at them like a scapegoat? Sorry but it doesn’t make sense to me why she would do that feels like something they wanted to add in.

    • @keypath5340
      @keypath5340 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@30ajgo It would never make much sense to someone who hasn't go through that kind of experience ALONE, of course. We can only see it from an outsider perspective... or we could just have a little of basic human empathy towards the issues the main character is going through, rather than blaming them even more for something that they already blame themselves for.
      Lashing out was not cool, you're right.
      It was going to come out in one way or another, sooner or later.
      And thus, this was her breaking point, she NEEDED to get everything out of her system since Volume 4. Jaune as well.

    • @30ajgo
      @30ajgo ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keypath5340 Well one she was never alone cause then you are not a leader cause you need people to lead. Two if she was going through so much without telling anyone if you’re alright or not how are they supposed to know? It’s kind of her fault for being fake happy and not addressing the issue that she is ok to her friends. Now you lash out at the worst moment and expect people not to think you lost it? Jaune actually had an excuse cause he was actually alone. Ruby however isn’t making the situation better by lashing out at your friends like that when it’s her fault in the first place. They gave her empathy, she gave them crap. You reap what you sow.

    When I first watched this last week, I saw the warning about distressing content and didn't think it could be THAT bad, but I watched the episode while already struggling a lot with issues in my own life so the episode hit me like a tonne of bricks... neither Jaune nor Ruby are perfect mirrors for things that impact my life at the moment, but parts of both of their struggles are so strongly relatable that the episode caused me to have a visceral reaction. I've seen a lot of criticism for the show over the years, and sure some of it may be deserved at times, but episodes like this one cement in my mind how strong RWBY can really be.

    No Ruby was valid in telling Blake to shut up how ever cruel it maybe because Blake in earlier episode brushed/ cut off Ruby trying to open up to Yang. this whole situation is complicated and honestly hurts to watch.

    CRWBY has been firing on all cylinders the last 3 Volumes, especially this one with bringing the character development/trauma to the forefront. It was all leading to the breakdown from Ruby & Jaune. I feel for Ruby so much, sometimes life just piles on layer after layer of stress & it just waves over you until you cant take it anymore. Also Miles voice acting cant be stressed enough how great it is, the "I was the only one" line is such a raw emotional line.

    Ruby needed this. They all took time to heal after Beacon, Yang took her time to get back on her Feet, Blake went home to reconcile with her Parents, Weiss escaped her Family but Ruby...Ruby does not deal with her Pain, she pushes it deeper into herself until it festers, making it far worse and in this it finally bloomed into venting at the wrong People. The "Shut Up" to Blake was fair though, since it sounded like Blake was trying to invalidate Rubys feelings in that moment or downplaying the issue....now who could she have learned that from?

    A small thought I've had regarding the cat (not what I'd call a theory, cause it's not a thought that goes anywhere in particular, but something that I feel has the potential to be more important than we give it credit for right now): When the cat sent Herb back to the tree, he said that he'd given Herb a bit of his heart. Based off the fact that the cat's job is getting Afterans to go to the tree, that leads to two questions: how many times has he had to give a little bit of his heart away? And does he ever get those pieces of heart back? I can't help but wonder if maybe the cat was originally a good person in the Everafter, but after however many years of existence and giving away little pieces of it's heart here and there, what if the cat is slowly becoming more and more heartless?

    *-Chapter 7: The Perils of Paper Houses*
    When an episode starts with a warning, you know things are going to get real.
    -RWBY quote of the chapter
    _“Why are you asking me? - Because I'm the leader? Because I'm just supposed to have something to say? Well, I don't.” (Ruby Rose)_
    -Unstable Knight
    After his years of loneliness and after his encounter with the siblings, it seems that Jaune was just trying to, at least, grab on to one solid concept in the Ever After and after Louis' disappearance, convinced himself that ascension was equivalent to death, and from there on, overcompensated in protecting the Paper Pleasers, despite their insistence of their desires, seeing them as children who don't know better, more or less, and effectively confined himself to just keeping himself active. A sliver of hope for him is that with them gone, he'll have no choice but to move on with the others.
    Interestingly enough, considering what he's gone through and the place he is in, it's amazing that Jaune is still sane for the most part, aware enough that he knows that he wasn't all there mentally. And although older, his basic nature is still unchanged. He still has a habit of snapping at his friends when pressured. It was odd at first that he said he was alone for a long time (before the arrival of the siblings), but it is possible that he got stuck in the same loop as the team, not being able to advance further on.
    Ultimately, the source of his despair came from his inability to save people. But his words about how to have to live with it goes deeper than that. It's a good bet that he is thinking about what he did to Penny. Regardless of the circumstances, the fact remains that it was he who ended Penny's life. That is something that is going to stick with him for the rest of his life.
    -Neo's Power
    Okay, so Neo's power is more than just clones. Evidently, her power is creating near exact replicas, capable of actually feeding on their prey. Is this truly the evolution of her Semblance, or could it be that it is altered by the Ever After, similar to how Ruby's emotions affect the weather? Either way, they are a true threat to the Afterains.
    But what is Neo's true purpose? If her prime target is Ruby, why create beings that would attack the populace? Is it possible that Neo is hurting Ruby by hurting others in a form of a psychological attack (Jaune did voice as such)? That would make sense. And given Ruby's already fragile state, she is more than capable of breaking her down now.
    -Ruby's Breakdown
    We already knew this was going to happen. And we all anticipate on how will Ruby be able to cope with her issue (and further develop her character). But this chapter itself was still... heartbreaking. Her team is (mostly) unaware of her inner turmoil about her identity and are stunned by her inability to fight, not even capable of bearing her once beloved weapon in her hands. That ignorance let to her to snap when they looked to her for assurance.
    Worse for her friends is the fact that her outburst over her being the leader is only the tip of the iceberg, with Little being the only one noticing that there was something more that was wrong with her. Even Jaune was surprised by her actions and reactions. It is always easy to forget that despite all she accomplished, she is still the youngest out of all of them. It also does calls back to Ozpin's words to her at Beacon in Volume 1.
    _"Being a team leader isn't just a title you carry into battle, but a badge you wear constantly."_
    Her uncertainty about being a Huntress was hard enough, but it adds greater pressure to her as the leader, pressure that at this moment, might be too much to bear. She needs support to help her now (similar to how Sun was for Blake after she left Beacon), but at this moment, she doesn't want to hear it. And that makes this all the more tragic. She is forgetting (or better yet, she needs a stronger reason) to keep moving forward.
    Without it, the rose petals with wilter away...

    Y'know I gotta say I'm liking Yang a little less the past few seasons(not a bad thing) just really shows how much Ruby is going thru on her own, I mean instead of making sure her sister is ok she gets in front of Blake as if Ruby is suddenly a threat? Yeah idk maybe being an older sibling who helped raise a kid sis has me feeling a certain way but that part kinda hurt. Neglecting the kid for a hot minute, and the moment your kid sister is having a mental episode you treat her as a threat instead of saying anything to comfort her? Ah

    • @dragontamerpennie3273
      @dragontamerpennie3273 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get that, but I took it as Yang getting in between the two because she was trying to help. Like she wasn't picking a side (Blake or Ruby), but was instead trying to stop Ruby from doing anything she wouldn't do with a clear head. Not that I think Ruby would hurt any of her teammates, she was just upset and boiled over. But to each their own.

    • @ENDtredecim
      @ENDtredecim ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @DragonTamerPennie I could see that side if Yang hasn't been progressively showing less and less priority when it comes to her relationship with Ruby as siblings, especially as the older one for the past 2 seasons. Ruby doesn't even seem to hold animosity against Blake in any way either, which should show she really does feel that alienated by Yang at this point.

    Jaune latched on to protecting the paper village because it gave him a sense of purpose, and a community of sorts....but as an outsider and kind of colonizer he dismissed their beliefs about the tree and ascension based in his takeaway from his adventures with Alyx and Lewis. It is said that if isolated/stranded somewhere it is important for survivors to develop daily routines/rituals, and that's what Jaune has done...but it has also made him highly resistant to change of any kind. Saving the village daily gives his existence meaning. Like Sigourney Weaver's line from Galaxy Quest: "I have one job. It's STUPID, but I'm gonna do it." ; routines and ritual can be important, but Jaune is "stuck in a rut" as the saying goes.

    Seeing them all go after each other, but especially Ruby and Jaune, huuurt. Like you two said, they've always been so close and had a close bond. Like Jaune was Ruby's first friend at Beacon (sans Yang) and now here they are screaming at each other. But I'm honestly glad it came out and hopefully they all learn from this. That they all need to lean on and communicate with each other. All the pressure can't just be thrusted onto one person (not that I'm saying that's what WBYJ and the others were doing (maybe Oz a little), but that's how Ruby felt it.).

    • @dragontamerpennie3273
      @dragontamerpennie3273 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Nope. He made it up in his head that he was helping them, but really it was just a way to help himself. The Purple PP even said that they had accomplished their mission (the land was beautiful because of them) and they wanted to do something else. Jaune said himself that he could actually protect these people. However, they didn't want his protection, they just wanted to ascend and gain a new purpose, something Jaune was stopping them from. Honestly, everything on the list Jaune had was them trying to ascend (sans helping Pyrrah with her homework) and they were too predictable that Jaune figured it out. It might be my imagination but if you go back to right before the dam broke it sounds like some of them saying "push" as in push the tower over? And when the dam breaks it sounds a lot like some of them cheering instead of cries of fear.
