Danng nice fight on that one. That's part of the reason why I enjoy mixing it up and fishing with light tackle from time to time. You get more bites on the smaller lures, AND if you do hook into something decent it's a heart racing experience that requires finesse and planning.

Similar thing happened to me last weekend. Took the boat out for the first time this year, and I was fishing a cove with a square bill crankbait. Hooked and landed a 20lb flathead on the square bill. I hope to have the video on my channel soon.

The weather has been weird in the U.S. this seasons. In March we got a super snow day! I mean big flakes and everything white. I asked some of the older residents at my apartment complex and they said they’ve never seen that since 1999. They said that was the last time it snowed that much!
The weather we are experiencing in the midwest is so unstable I'm going to stop using live bait and going to stick with my gulp minnows .. cheers my good sir
As far as catfish go, channels are brutes ! If you've ever lipped one you know . Had a few destroy my thumb. Love catching them . Nice catch and nice video!
I had a great year last year with chartreuse gulp minnows. Several 1.5 to 2.5 lb channel catfish, and one 4 lbs about like that one there. Fought in similar fashion. Them catfish are strong fish. Even before they hit double digits.
Those vultures were creepy the way they just lined up & stared at you 😳 As much as I hate catfish, you really made that fight look fun! Very nice job finessing him in.

A buddy turned me onto these gulp minnows. They work crazy good. Out fished worms and real minnows , We had the white and black and yellow and black 1" I'm sold
You have to use the " right "Jig Head so it doesn't split the Gulp Minnow's head . I am using the Apex Jig . It seems like the Minnow stays longer on the Jig .
You know I always have a jar of these in my tackle bag. I never use them though I mainly dip whatever soft plastic I’m using into the gulp juice, but I for sure have to give them a try now! 🎣

That happened to me last fall at the Englewood Dam. 5' UL with 4lb flouro on a 1"Gulp. Same size channie. 10 minute fight. Good times.

Ive done well with the gulp 1in minnows for crappie at night under a float.
Also, few things are better than the unexpected catfish on light gear.

i caught a 3lb largemouth with a gulp minnow once while i was fishing for bait. caught it on 2lb line. 5’ UL rod and a trout magnet jighead.
