With this ambience, instead of picturing Cthulhu's awakening, I'm thinking I'm in a submarine searching for the Kraken and picking up its roars and sounds on the hydrophone

I remember reading survivor accounts of the sinking of the Titanic when after the ship completely disappeared under the ocean that they could still hear her “screeching” in the depths as she broke apart, as if she was screaming as she sunk. This video captures how I’ve always imagined that

Its because of dying has 2 emotions with it. 1, survive no matter what and 2, accept your dying. Because of that acceptance you have relief due to freedom from your all responsibilities
This reminds me of the ambience in Subnautica, with distant sea creatures making echoing roars. That game had such good sound design!

Actually one of the most calming ambient videos I've listed to, I absolutely love this, makes me think of being in a marine biology crew exploring the marianas trench and unknowingly going into the domain of a leviathan

Neat idea but the bloop was actually discovered to be the sound of ice caps melting in 2007 or 2008.

Metallica wrote a song called "The Call Of Ktulu" (like the short story by H. P. Lovecraft). Yes, they (Metallica) spelled it incorrectly on their album, Ride The Lightening. Cthulhu is mentioned in Metallica's song, "Dream No More." His (Cthulhu's name) name is spelled correctly in the lyrics. Cthulhu seems to be referenced a lot in Metallica's work.
If I remember correctly, Cliff was a huge fan of Lovercraft.

I was a sonarman many years ago, and you heard some wacky things some nights, but you rarely heard quiet. This is quiet, and that makes it extra creepy- all the little biologics out there know to get the hell away, because something big this way comes.

@@UNZEEEN No idea what it was- around the Puerto Rican trench- heard something that sounded like a freight train, though it seemed biological, it had a vague sort of mechanical quality I couldn't explain. We tried to track it, even played around with active sonar to see if we could ping it. Whatever it was went away, and then all the other noise returned. Shrimps crackles, dolphin squeaks, the usual.

@@UNZEEEN Yes, the idea of sitting deep in the middle of the ocean in a nuclear submarine, hearing the sonar and suddenly something big starts attacking the submarine. Like the movie Sphere 1998. Or 20,000 miles under the sea. That would be great, I would play it around. Just the sound of sonar and the deep sea, and occasionally something would brush against the side of the vessel, something would grunt or hiss from outside. Spooky sounds reverberate through the water around. Wow, that would be the bomb and the sonar would be constantly beeping into that weird atmosphere.
