Fun fact about the Regis: Did you know that each one is also based off an era of human civilization? Stone age, ice age, iron age, dark age (Drago really should have been dark type) and the modern era of technological civilization reliant on electricity! The most facination part of this to me is that it means that eleci is either new, or that some ancient precursor civilization once advanced far enough to warrant their creation by gigas before he and the others were sealed away!
I'd say eleci is a reference to the Industrial Age. which makes me think Regigigas got up in like the 1800's, saw people were using electricty and making things like lightbulbs, and was like 'huh. not a bad idea'. and then went back to sleep after making his own.
FULL STOP: one of your best countdowns EVER. Love the backgrounds, the characters, and especially the lore. Probably my fave of THIS list specifically being Aganos, likely because his former master told him to think, as in "think for yourself, not just your purpose", but also how, at least if you ask me, a created being may not just be given a purpose, but also to DEVELOP one and forge their own path forward. Also agree that his theme KICKS MAJOR ASS!!!
As a Jew, I'm really excited for this one. Golems have become such a fantasy staple in general that I think their original in Jewish mysticism, despite being decently well known through cultural osmosis, is I believe a decent bit misunderstood or at least, simplified. Curious to see how you'll cover them, what you'll consider to be a 'Golem' and not just an automaton, construct, etc. (how you'll separate them) and if you'll discuss any of the more famous Golem stories. Shame it's coming out on one of our holidays though, means I'll need to wait till after to finally sit down and watch, lol. Well, something to look forward to.
I appreciate that insight. I did *some* research that I hope lives up to expectations, but I always realize a few weeks of reading doesn’t compare to a whole lifetime living in the culture with these stories, so I try not to assert any expertise on the subject. Hope you enjoy :)
@@comicfoil9494 Welp, I'm now back online and can give my thoughts/feedback, if it matters lol. Fari warning, this is going to be LONG. If you feel like it's a bit much though, please do skip to the last paragraph, it has a summary that I think is very important. 1:00 'today's monster has a more sacred origin'. Ooh, I like that line quite a bit. 1:25 From what I can recall, it is specifically earth, and not just any material. In fact, it has to be virgin soil. Though admittedly my knowledge on the fine details of Golem-crafting is murky. Orthodox men don't tend to learn this sort of esoteric knowledge until they've mastered every before it. It would be like trying to learn rocket science without knowign algebra, physics, etc. 1:30 Ah, was wondering if the Maharal's Golem would get a mention. A few fun facts. While the Maharal's may be the most famous, there are stories with 'better' authenticity by being contemporary accounts, as opposed to the stories regarding the Maharal which only began yto be circulated centuries after his death. For example, the Golem of Chelm. That said, there are stories about Nazi soldiers who went to the upstairs of the Maharal's synagogue, where the remains of the Golem supposedly are kept, and never came back down. And that synagogue was one of the few the Nazis left standing. (also, my father actually prayed there once. He never saw a Golem but he also never went to the attic. So who knows?) 2:00 There's reason to believe Frankenstein was, at least in some way, inspired by stories of Golems. Which makes this a funny continuation of last week's episode lol. 2:05 Interesting point regarding AI. There's an intriguing discussio nthere to be had. 2:20 Beat me to the Frankenstein bit lol. 2:28 Ah, the superhero connection! Glad it was mentioned. I had a book going over the origin of the Comic Industry and history as a whole and the Jewish impact on it. The Golem was mentioned several times throughout it. 2:35 There's also the DC superhero Ragman, who is basically a golem of rags. (I need to look into FF books and see if Ben ever talks about the Golem.) 3:00 Good choice there on the limiting factors. This was always going to be a bit difficult to try and fit into a neat box, but I think this makes a good set of criteria. 3:10 Oscar, fantastic job with that pronounciation. L'CHAIM 4:13 interesting point of distinction there between elementals and Golems. Again, difficult to figure out what fits and what doesn't. 4:40 Were Dark Samus a purposeful creation I'd have made the argument for her inclusion actually. 5:23 Having never played Metroid Prime fully, this was the first time I saw this and I actually began to bust a gut laughing. Well done Nintendo, well done. 8:35 If only I could do that with Margit. The amount of times I got knocked off that damn bridge. 11:30 an important note here. Golems in Jewish mysticicsm are incapable of speech. Speech is God's gift to man that elevates him from the beasts and as such no other creature has it. Not even a Golem, but that makes sense does it not? Golems are fascimiles of God's work, brought about by man (with God ultimately being the one to grant the material animate form). Though I suppose considering this Golem is one fused with a man that that explains why it can talk. (that said, I;m gonna circle back to this and it's importance i nthe wrap-up paragraph.) 13:!0 That better be a Kosher BBQ! ;) 14:55 So Ares, a greek god, orders his cult to make a Jewish Golem and they name it after a demon prince from the Goetia whose name itself is likely based on a Phoenician goddess, Astarte. GUYS PICK A LANE AND STICK TO IT. REGIS! WOO!!!! I love me the Regis and am so happy they made it on, especially as a group and not just any specific one. They all deserve to be here. (side note, I respectfully disagree with Oscar, I think Regigas from lore could take the number 2 entry.) And frick me, the window closed before I could copy the rest of this comment .That's a lot of work wasted, ugh. Well, I'm gonna close it with this, a write up that I think is important. Golem stories in media have taken on a very distinctively huamnized lean to them. Many of Oscar's choices here share that 'human' aspect. This isn't surprising.Human beings empathize and anthropomorphize and that's a good thing. It shows our ability to be compassionate. But this is inherently contrary to what the Golem truly is in Jewish mysticsm... and yet all the same it is perhaps inevitble that our stories would evolve to view the Golem in this way. You see, the Golem has always only ever been a tool in Jewish mysicism. The idea of a Golem having true 'sentience'/'sapience' and so on is one that is a bit antithetical to how Judaism sees whaty makes humans human. God alone can give the gift of life, and it is to people alone that He made in his image. If you recall, I mentioned that God gave humanity 'speech' as a gift that speperates us from all other life. Speech is not merely the ability to talk and communicate. Speech, as is understood here, is the higher thought process, the ability to conceptulize and question our existence, to question the world and the meaning of our own existence. This is God's gift to us. The abiltiy to self-actualize, to try and figure out who we are, what we are, what our purpose is, what the menaing is. This 'higher thought process' is sacred. There is a santicity and holiness to it that is seperate from all else in creation. (And is why misuing the gift of speech to harm is considered so serious an offense in Judaism.) It is God's gift to Man, and it can ONLY be given by God and was given ONLY to man. Man may make what seems to be fasimiles of this, but nothing we create can actually have this gift of higher thought, of speech. Of, to try and sum it all up in one world, a soul, for as admittedly loaded as that word is. This is why the stories of Golems in Jewish folklore look at the Golem as a tool. It is one. It cannot be more because it doesn't have the soul to be more. The stories do not disregard a creature as 'less then' because it was created to serve, rather they recognize the Golem as the limited entity it is. One would not ask why the hammer cannot choose its destiny, one thus would not ask the same of the Golem. And yet, in perhaps an ironic twist, we as people imbue the stories of Golems with the questions of identity and purpose because of just how much the Golems themselves remind us of... well, us. Of humanity. The Golem is made in an image of man, forned from clay and earth as man hismelf is said to have been formed by God, to serve a purpose as we (i.e those who subscribe to Jewish thought) ourselves are said to be. Is it not then natural that our own questions regarding what idenity and purpose and existence are would be relfected back unto us by a being which mirrors our own creation? That we would have a being that is a fascimile of us, perhaps reflect our own questions regarding our own creator? That such a being's creator would then be a fascimile of God, to whom we ourselves wonder of our purpose and existence? That is to say, in a very roundabout and paradoxical way, I think Oscar's choices being Golems that clearly have a personhood are both the least faithful, and the MOST faithful, to the original source. And well, that original source is Judaism. I think it's rather fitting that being faithful to it involves debating and endless circles of questions. It's truly the Jewish spirit. Anyway, another wonderful countdown. Really making me think about gerting that 100$ patreon tier. (Edit: I've decided. It's been earned.)
Fun fact: in FGO not only is the statue Galatea a summonable servant but if memory serves she was not only given life by Aphrodite but also has a portion of her divine authority.
And Avicebron is a summonable Servant, all about the creation of Golems for his ultimate creation. Hell, in the most recent event in GFO, he made a golem out of Mabu Tofu
The Dungeon Man entry actually reminded me of another RPG, Cris Tales. Paulina is a character you meet in that game. She's baically a living Statue of Liberty who helps the party travel rivers by giving them her shoe, or carrying them across the sea by walking there. She's also has a thing related to this list's theme of purpose, given what happens near the finale of the game, but given she's more of a side-character, it's only briefly touched on for her.
Wood, Stone, Metal, Clay, Flesh, Magic, Ether....no matter what the material, these Golems were made to last. While simple at first glance, there is deep potential within all of them...even imbued with the souls of their creators, or given their own hearts.
So Albert Wesker turned us into a golem for a week... Geez Louise! 10. So an oldie is the gatekeeper. Good on you Thardus. 9. I'm guessing if Sen were alive today he'd be a troll like a certain goddess of light 8. Yeah other than Gygas this is the most memorable npc in this game 7. Haven't heard from this guy in the while since he mopped the floor with us (reference to his previous appearance) 6. I really thought it would be golurk but the regis work as golem royalty 5. I knew this game would show up and Malus has a dirge to remember 4. Yeah I thought this was breaching the rules too but I can't wait to see it in season 2 of Arcane 3. As soon as I saw this game, I figured Aganos would show up 2. Hi Ignis! Glad to hear from you also I am loving this golem and want to help her fight her creators now... a shame the only rogue-likes I plan to do are darkest dungeon and dead cells... ooof 1. This was the only entry I was spoiled on... curse my maticulous note-taking on an online dnd campaign! Also that ending was beautiful.
I haven't played it myself, but I once heard of a Pokemon Fan game that came up with the concept of the Dead Regis. Regirode, a Regirock who eroded, fell apart and pitifully tries to put itself back together. Regimelt, A Regice that was exposed to lethal amount of heat, and Regirust, a Registeel that was oxidated to the point where it can barely move. It's twisted, kinda sad, and terrifying considering how powerful these guys are normally
Their ultimate fates are also references to the pokedex entries for them in some of the games that say Registone is unbreakable, Regiice is unmeltable, and Registeel will never rust. They didn't just die, they died in ways that are supposed to be impossible, leading to the question of how this could have possibly happened!
Someone once commented that the Colossi were constructed by human hands and that the many platforms you see on them were for construction/sculpting purposes, not just convenient grounds for you to rest. I think they were onto something there.
@@JurassicDaikaiju If he does make a countdown of his Top 10 Video Game Kaiju, I wonder if he’ll put Kraid on that list like how he put Ridley in his Top 10 Video Game Dragons
Beautiful countdown, really gets your grey cells going about having purpose and either sticking to it, going beyond, or finding a new one. And the ending monologue? Gave me chills.
I know you have The Iron Golem as the FromSoftware rep for this video, but I was really hoping Jar Alexander from Elden Ring would appear on this list. A bit more of stretch for what’s a golem but he is an inanimate clay object given life, albeit by accident since the living jar race where just jars meant to contain the dead, but having guts and spirit of those they carry inside was able to animate them. Plus Alexander’s quest is a very golem like story, a beautifully tragic yet strangely heartwarming tale about legacy and trying to push past one’s original purpose
Predictions: Aganos (Killer Instinct) Golurk (Pokémon) Galio or Blitzcrank (League of Legends) Golem (The Legend of Spyro: Dawn of the Dragon) Eox (Phantom Hourglass) Golem (Castlevania Judgment) Thardus (Metroid Prime) The Colossi (Shadow of the Colossus)
As someone who enjoyed the recap segments at the end of the countdowns of yesteryear, I appreciate how you concluded this one with what's effectively a recap.
Various Colossi from Shadow of the Colossus could count especially since they are covered in the earthly elements all the time. But I'd also include Thardus from Metroid Prime. A rock monster who can roll into a ball and send boulders your way who can only have his weak spots revealed with the Thermal Visor.
There were Golems in Wild Arms 1 and it's remake, Wild Arms Alter Code F. They were originally created to battle the "Metal Demons" that invaded the planet of Filgaia (from Outer Space, naturally). The Demons eventually captured most of them and repurposed them, though there were one or two that stayed true to their original purpose.
Don't forget the Golem Asgard created by the Prophets in Wild Arms 3. Based very much of the golem Asgard from Wild Arms 1. The story of Asgard growing into a sense of self in 3 is honestly very nice.
Wow, that ending was a chef’s kiss, well done! I thought I might see the Regis from Pokémon on this list. Fun fact, I’ve been replaying my copy of alpha sapphire today, and I just caught the three golems of Hoenn before dinner. This was just what I needed to help calm the nerves about today’s election. Another fine masterpiece Oscar, looking forward to the next Pokémon or Fire Emblem entry in your future videos.
Finally getting to this and my predictions on the list are Aganos (Killer Instinct) and Golurk (Pokemon). Was gonna say Robo (Chrono Trigger) but I thought he counts as more robot. Also this is probably my favorite thumbnail art done by Ignis with Oscar on top of the 13th Colossus staring off towards Alexandria. Just spectacle at it's finest.
That Regi theme… That’s the theme I consider Regigigas’, THE DEDGI TRIO TGEME FROM POKÉMON CLOVER!! An ORAS remix, specifically! This countdown just got a like from THAT alone!
I hope Shanoa from Castlevania Order of Ecclassia makes the list, I wouldn't consider her as a witch technically but she was part of a cult that had a seemingly noble goal of slaying Dracula, until it was later revealed that the cult was trying to revive him. So I think that counts.
Honorable Mentions: *Alexander - Final Fantasy Series *Cragalanche - Kid Icarus Uprising *Koloktos - The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword *Victor - Darkstalkers Series
18:16 This might be my favorite entry you've done so far this month. Its always a treat to look back at things I didn't think much of as a young novice. Although, I might be biased, as this mainly covers the generation that was newest when I first learned of said franchise.
Lava would be a neat idea for a fire type Regi, but I have a different idea: 7 small pieces of coal hidden throughout a region that form a body of flame when brought back together.
Leave it to what looks like basic walking automatons on the outside, whether given rock, steel, metal or otherwise, to provide the deepest insights. This is one countdown I'll be coming back to in the future... which is what I can also say about many of your other lists.
I've only really heard one Jewish golem story, having been brought up in a family that observes conservative Judaism. Well, two, actually. The first was a tale of a rabbi that created a violent gollum through the Hebrew phrase at the top of its head. It was only by changing the word, from "living" to "intimate" if I recall correctly, for the golem to be stopped. The second was a joke off of the Trix rabbit: "Silly rabbi, kicks are for treds!"
Given the trajectory of the countdowns, my guess is that Monster Hunters is going to go over the idea of "He who hunts monsters shall inevitably become one" or something to that extent. Likely going over those who either give in to the mindsets of what they hunt versus those who still think like they do but provide an opposite mirror in some way.
the iron golem from minecraft is an honorable mention for me. they spawn in villages to defend the villagers from enemy mobs like zombies and pillagers, and while they are pretty powerful, their main claim to fame is the iron farms and poppy/bonemeal farms
The ending of this countdown kinda reminds me of the ending of Top 10 Berserkers, almost like it's a parallel. However, while that ending was loud and passionate, this ending is calm and pensive. Nice contrast.
Finaly!!! Golems and elementals are my favorite type of monster!!! Tbh I lump elementals and golems into the same thing, both animated creatures made out of metireal
Man golems and the lore behind them are so fascinating, and glad to see Shale get represented, hope we see more of her one day. Though as for another top ten, maybe something like Homunculi? Or clones? Also have you tried Code Vein at all? Might give you ideas for Vampires.
Homunculi are great since they are very similar to Golems. I personally want to see Dolls cause I recently played two games where a playable character is a Doll.
The ending was so heartwarming and made shed a tear. I hope you’ll do Dolls and Homunculi in the future cause they fellow similar story beats to the Golems. Also Geras (Mortal Kombat), is an honorable mention from me.
An honorable mention I'd like to point out for this list. Geras from Mortal Kombat: The game or series creators never refers to him as such, but he has all of the makings of a classic golem. He is a being created of earthly materials like sand and metals. He was created by basically a god to carry out her demands and duties, and to make sure he would not fail, made him immortal for extra measure. Even when Kronika is defeated and Liu Kang remakes the timeline, Geras still decides to serve the new Titan even when Liu Kang gave him the option to do whatever he wanted. He was given the option of free will, and with it, still chose to serve his new master. It's probably because he hasn't been around for too long and many fans haven't been too fond of the story direction the latest Mortal Kombat games have been going, but I still think he deserves a mention.
for me my fave golem in gaming is Knack due to his sheer versatility i mean not only can he change size at will but he can also absorb other materials into his body and each one gives him special powers and properties plus i love his personality even tho we dont get to see it that much
Natural Doctrine had a Golem party member. Heavy, high HP, joins right around the time you need a better tank than what you currently have. He can't move on his own, you need to keep him in range of your engineer party member to use him, but definitely helps keep a front line between you and the minotaur prowling the labyrinth. I never did finish that game, though. It was starting to get frustrating around the time dragons showed up on the battlefield.
Great Video Mr. Duarte ! Personally, I was sure the Golem from Vampire: The Masquerade Redemption would show up on this list: but I am always happy to be wrong when it comes to your countdowns.
33:47 Speaking of golems Bebop from Deadlock not only does something special with his hook (Hook, attatch bomb and knock them back to enemy rather than just hook and punch till dead), but is also described as a scrap golem. Interestingly, he also does pitfights to get money to help his creator, Miss Shelly.
Golums are definitely an interesting bunch. Not only are they structured through earth and rock but they can also use specific elements to their advantage too. This list is definitely going to rock.
I gotta give a shout-out to the guardian from darksiders 2. Not often you get to build the very boss your going to fight next only to tear it down in the next sequence
I know someone who...I wouldn't say he mains Astaroth, but let's just say he was polite enough to tell you if he was going to let you move during the match
47:56 I mean if there's anything that a Golem would hate the most & I'm pretty sure it would be relatable to people, is birds. Though in the Golem's defence, one would be very aggravated with birds pooping on things where they shouldn't
I honestly believe that Slow Start could have somewhat worked if the effect had been inverted, doubling Regigigas' stats, even if they bypass the limit, in exchange for them being a bit lower and its speed being too slow for normal play and too fast for Trick Room. It would still reflect the lore too, since this Pokémon is the one who moved the continents around; of course its stats and ability would match that
I LOVE Golems and there in my eyes a underyutelised theme in fiction. In fact im working on the outline of my own Fantasy book and one of the main Charakter IS a Earth Mage that specialises in the creation of Golems. There just such a cool concept and give so much story potential, there the Fantasy Equivelent too Robots and I LOVE this countdown extremly!
I love the golems in dragon's dogma 1. A giant hunk of rock bound together by spots of magic that are typically seen guarding something. The way to kill them is climbing the monster and destroying the magic disks on their body. Easier said than done since they are pretty fast from what I remember.
one common fan theory about Pokémon's legendary giants (minus Regigigas) is that they each represent a period of history Regirock represents the stone age Regice represents the ice age Regidrago represents the medieval age (cuz it's a dragon and they're associated with medieval fairy tales) Registeel represents the iron age Regieleki represents the modern age (due to how many devices run on electricity)
So a quick clarification for all y'all: The thumbnail of this video was done by SadeDnDearest. Ignis is shown in the intro, but that's because I failed to update my intro accordingly ever since I hired two new artists. Expect an update to the intro in the near future.
I think Sen is meant to be a pseudonym for Seath (who is an inventor so your proposed description of Sen fits) similar to how Lloyd is theorised to be a pseudonym for Nito.
I may ne biased, but this might be my favorite vid from you, Oscar. And I'm biased because Golems are among my favorite monsters, alongside dragons, werewolves, giants of all kind, and Revenants. If you want, you could use a common catch-all term for them: Prometheans. It works for Frankenstein-like flesh golems, golems of earthen materials or artificial constructs given life. Or if you want more, you can try Promethean the Created. It's a TTRPG that allows you to play or even research different created humanoids.
Honarable mention for the main protagonist from "Born of Bread", Loaf, the bread golem. How many Golems have actually been the main hero in a game? Can't really think of anyone else.
@@comicfoil9494 oooh! Acknowledgement from the editor! Genuinely kinda tickled by that. Either way, looking forward to seeing your work here. If aganos isn't getting a spot on the list itself, I bet he'd get an honorable mention at least.

Wrestlers Sorry for the long list.😅
38:1539:13 Aganos from Killer Instinct. Now this is Golem that hit hard like 8wheeler sleepertruck, however not as hard as Aganos own theme music. ULTRA COMBO!!
I think the closest I've come to encountering a Golem in a video game would be the Big Daddy's from Bioshock, I say that because that's how Dr. Tenebaum describes them in the game but I'm not sure if they actually count.
Honourable Mention from me would be The Divine Beasts from Breath Of The Wild. Speaking of which, I hope we get Top Ten Video Game Sentient Weapons in the future. Swords, Magic, Organic Beings. Anything Goes.
I think Golurk is a better choice for a golem in pokemon (I don't mean the pokemon called Golem) than the regis considering an ancient civilization made golurk whilst the smaller regis were made by regigigas, and golurks' body is a perpetual motion device so it can protect the civilization forever without rest, even if someone attacks from the air it can become a mortar to blast things away from a distance or even fly itself by using its torso as a rocket engine
#6 - Unfortunately Pokemon suffers from the same problem a lot of games with a mass cast have - not letting us use every single character at once. I've only every seen one game use it well - by implementing a weekly invincible Boss that you threw teams at for maximum damage total score. And I think Octopath Traveller (and maybe a Final Fantasy game) lets you use all eight characters against the final boss.
The ending quote really nails in what makes a good Golem. It's not being basically a magic robot or being made of rocks, it's in the words of a famous quote:

14:55 So Ares, a greek god, orders his cult to make a Jewish Golem and they name it after a demon prince from the Goetia whose name itself is likely based on a Phoenician goddess, Astarte. GUYS PICK A LANE AND STICK TO IT.
REGIS! WOO!!!! I love me the Regis and am so happy they made it on, especially as a group and not just any specific one. They all deserve to be here. (side note, I respectfully disagree with Oscar, I think Regigas from lore could take the number 2 entry.)
And frick me, the window closed before I could copy the rest of this comment .That's a lot of work wasted, ugh.
(And is why misuing the gift of speech to harm is considered so serious an offense in Judaism.) It is God's gift to Man, and it can ONLY be given by
God and was given ONLY to man.
@@MagusDoukenI was about to talk about him in my own comment
@@NojoJojo598 Fate mentioned 👀
Thumbs up for the Fate mention
We've done Robots, We've Done Cyborgs, We've Done Mech Pilots... Now we have come full circle to Golems! This is gonna be fun

9. I'm guessing if Sen were alive today he'd be a troll like a certain goddess of light
8. Yeah other than Gygas this is the most memorable npc in this game
7. Haven't heard from this guy in the while since he mopped the floor with us (reference to his previous appearance)
6. I really thought it would be golurk but the regis work as golem royalty
5. I knew this game would show up and Malus has a dirge to remember
4. Yeah I thought this was breaching the rules too but I can't wait to see it in season 2 of Arcane
3. As soon as I saw this game, I figured Aganos would show up
2. Hi Ignis! Glad to hear from you also I am loving this golem and want to help her fight her creators now... a shame the only rogue-likes I plan to do are darkest dungeon and dead cells... ooof
Pokémon Clover. A romhack made by 4Chan
Ah, Clover version. One of the weirdest rom hacks out there. Legitimately great design and balance cloaked in offensive humor and dank memes.

Beautiful countdown, really gets your grey cells going about having purpose and either sticking to it, going beyond, or finding a new one. And the ending monologue? Gave me chills.
“Fantasy and science fiction are two sides of the same coin.”
The difference? Fantasy is not possible while science fiction is not possible…YET!!!
Sniff damn GS that ending line was beautiful.
When you want to add robots to your fantasy universe.
If I don’t see the Regis on this list (or, at the very least get a mention), then consider my stony keister surprised as hell
I am so happy you are doing this because i have an inordinate love for golems

Aganos (Killer Instinct)

Galio or Blitzcrank (League of Legends)

As someone who enjoyed the recap segments at the end of the countdowns of yesteryear, I appreciate how you concluded this one with what's effectively a recap.
My the very image of the thumbnail, at least one of the Colossi from Shadow of Collosus would be on the list
Astaroth and Sion would get along splendidly.
Various Colossi from Shadow of the Colossus could count especially since they are covered in the earthly elements all the time. But I'd also include Thardus from Metroid Prime. A rock monster who can roll into a ball and send boulders your way who can only have his weak spots revealed with the Thermal Visor.
AYYY A SOUL CALIBUR REP! God I miss that series...

18:16 This might be my favorite entry you've done so far this month.
Its always a treat to look back at things I didn't think much of as a young novice. Although, I might be biased, as this mainly covers the generation that was newest when I first learned of said franchise.
I can already see some likely picks for the next one: The Belmont Clan, Samus and the titular monster hunters from MH.
Lava would be a neat idea for a fire type Regi, but I have a different idea:
7 small pieces of coal hidden throughout a region that form a body of flame when brought back together.
You say that we tune out when you talk about League, honestly I am more surprised we didn’t see any in the last 2 videos
Number 1, like with top 10 villains remake, ended off really sweet. It also makes me want to see if i want to try out the dragon age game
All that size and power, and yet Astaroth can be parried by Talim, a thin teenager whose height barely reaches his chest.
40:20 - 40:56 Her last line went hard. Imagine sealing away your own creation and then they come back looking to throw hands.
I'm glad that was number 1. She was pretty much my favorite character from that game. Not the series, but that specific game
The ending of this countdown kinda reminds me of the ending of Top 10 Berserkers, almost like it's a parallel. However, while that ending was loud and passionate, this ending is calm and pensive. Nice contrast.
That ending was beautiful
Great Top 10, as always, but, damn, that end of countdown speech was impactful.
@@Hilversumborn really? Neat! I am guessing one is Lies of P?
@@Drag0nk1ngmark Actually no, though it’s on my backlog.
The games are ‘YS IX: Monstrum Nox’ and ‘The Legend of Heroes: Trails into Reverie’
Geras from Mortal Kombat:
The game or series creators never refers to him as such, but he has all of the makings of a classic golem.
It's probably because he hasn't been around for too long and many fans haven't been too fond of the story direction the latest Mortal Kombat games have been going, but I still think he deserves a mention.
for me my fave golem in gaming is Knack due to his sheer versatility i mean not only can he change size at will but he can also absorb other materials into his body and each one gives him special powers and properties plus i love his personality even tho we dont get to see it that much
Question is do “Frankensteinian” constructs count because “flesh golems” are very much a thing.
We’re not doing any flesh golems on this list, but it’s true that flesh golems are a thing.
@@comicfoil9494Can easily be a separate list.
SHALE SHALE SHALE SHALE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Also dungeon mans inclusion felt especially appropriate cuz i played EarthBound for the first time last October
13:49 That quote perfectly summarizes Earthbound
The comedy bits in this one were on point XD. Special mention to the Regi's noises.
As someone who loves golems, this made me happy to see.

I never think about Golems that much so this will be interesting... that shadow of colossus part on the art is spooky
I would definitely give an honourable mention to Golem the final evolved form of Geodude
Forget these Golems, STORM ATRONARCH BABY!
Since it was was brought up briefly, would you consider making a Top Ten Video Game Homunculi or would that be too difficult?
47:56
I mean if there's anything that a Golem would hate the most & I'm pretty sure it would be relatable to people, is birds.
It would still reflect the lore too, since this Pokémon is the one who moved the continents around; of course its stats and ability would match that
According to Wild Rift, Blitzcrank somehow becomes friends with Teemo, Lux, Yasuo, and Jinx.
Glad to see someone loves the regie Pokémon as much as I do
I LOVE Golems and there in my eyes a underyutelised theme in fiction.
Boy, I say, boy, let me tell you about Sen's fortress. Pay attention when I'm talking to you boy.
Golums are kind of the perfect example of, I think therefore I am.
That’s why I love them
one common fan theory about Pokémon's legendary giants (minus Regigigas) is that they each represent a period of history
Regirock represents the stone age
Regice represents the ice age
Regidrago represents the medieval age (cuz it's a dragon and they're associated with medieval fairy tales)
Registeel represents the iron age
Regieleki represents the modern age (due to how many devices run on electricity)
So a quick clarification for all y'all:

I may ne biased, but this might be my favorite vid from you, Oscar.
And I'm biased because Golems are among my favorite monsters, alongside dragons, werewolves, giants of all kind, and Revenants. If you want, you could use a common catch-all term for them: Prometheans. It works for Frankenstein-like flesh golems, golems of earthen materials or artificial constructs given life. Or if you want more, you can try Promethean the Created. It's a TTRPG that allows you to play or even research different created humanoids.

If you really think about it, the undead can be considered golems as they're inanimate objects given life through magic
