@@urnan7330 the uploader asked for viewers’ opinions and that’s what he got. There’s no disrespect here unless you’re very thin skinned. Also, I might not know exactly how heavy or strong German Shepard are but I have a Siberian husky who were bred to pull ice sleds and have very strong instinct to take off after prey. You simply divert their attention when you can/know they’re about to make you eat asphalt after spotting a squirrel.

Well what you did bad is that YOU approached that dog with MAX. The footage clearly shows you guiding your dog closer and closer. He is not dragging you there. You let your dog to get closer and closer to that other {invasive}. When MAX was too close to him he switched to defensive and started attacking you. What you should have done is stay where you are at distance but paying attention to your surroundings {defensive} or start walking to a direction opposing to that dog {evasive}. If you noticed the other dog measured MAX and decided to go evasive on you two and the group of dogs around you. He kept a safe distance and didn't act aggressive or challenging as MAX. What happened was your fault and your government's. Uncontrolled street dog population is never a good thing! Beautiful dog you have there btw. Please try protect him better next time. Rabies is a killer disease with no cure. Very common between wild living animals and symptoms are not always visible at early stage. Your dog might win a street fight but will get bitten and if the attacker had rabies MAX will die.

Yes you could have avoided. Max was totally fixated and staring at the dog and his body language was screaming out loud that he was gonna react. You should have broken the fixed gaze and taken a U turn to simply disengage. And the kick at the end just makes it worse. and there was no verbal correction to Max. Command like “Leave it” can be used so that he knows he should ignore and move on. I have a GSD and it’s important to be mindful with them. Instead of hoping for that stray dog to move away, you can walk away and diffuse the situation and come back to meet the other regular streeties. But you kept advancing towards the dog encourage both the dogs to engage into this chaos. 🤦🏻‍♀️

But the street dog was coming at Max. Max had no problem with the other dogs. But this one was gunning for Max from the beginning. The text at the bottom of the video makes your dog seem innocent. But the actual video was; very aggressive Shepard on leash lead straight to a street dog so they could fight. I don't know where you live and what is the norm for you or dogs there but video/text contents should just be, " Shepard guard dog tells street dog to get out of the way." If the dog is in fact used as a guard dog.

German Shepherds are very good at training other vicious dogs, and some trainers use them only for doing just that. It is almost like dog language. The German Shepherd translate the human instruction to the other dog using nonverbal and verbal cues. In way Max was trying to do that. It is tough with these street dogs. They are all not so timid and nice. Some are nasty like this dog. Poor Max. But he can handle himself very well.

Asking for sympathy? From whom? And why? That's quite an interesting comment. Anyways, thanks for commenting. This is just a body footage. Every moves of this dog gets recorded. Only some clips turn up here on this channel because people love to watch it. Coming to the packs of dogs and street dogs, I have been living with packs since my childhood and a middle aged man by now. I am not an impulsive young lad looking for views. So, be rest assured I know what I am doing. Rather than conditioning my dog to turn away, I prefer the street dogs who dont get well with us get conditioned to avoid us. You can question this attitude. But, in the area where I live, I don't carry a stick with me. I carry biscuits. And, all the street dogs are fed by me as well in our walk. There are many videos here which you may watch if you like. But, there are one or two which still doesn't go well with Max and Max also doesn't go well. Turning back is not an attitude I prefer. Neither for me nor for my dog. Period.

So I am one who defended you on the lift video but unfortunately this video doesn't do you any favors. The camera angle makes it hard to tell if you are purposely letting your dog approach to get a video. If you are really disappointed. However my advice is get a proper harness with a easier to grab and secure handle the type that is physically on the harness. You need to use your voice more you are so quiet and not showing command. Don't allow him to get aggressive from the start you left it build up until it was uncontrollable. You need to keep eye on your dog's body language and tell when he is fixed on it and break it, walk him away and don't let him back there that day. He needs to know he can't do that if he wants to socialize with the nice dogs.

You could have easily redirected his attention towards you and KEPT WALKING. Even if you had to pass by the dog closely. Max should have been focused on you and only you. Your only worry should have been what the unleashed dog was going to do. Maybe socialize Max better and put him AND you through some obedience courses. They are well worth the money.

You have judged too soon from a window of few seconds or minutes. But that’s ok. I did what I wanted to do. And the people who stay in our area very well know how much I love all these dogs without branding them as street or breed. Avoidance and facing are two different styles to get rid of a situation. The first one is quick and temporary. The second one is more sustainable. What I did was to make sure both Max and the other dog associate this with a bad experience. We walk here everyday. And it’s just in front of our gated community. So avoidance is not an option to me. It may take Max out of that situation but will encourage the other dog to repeat the same every time we come out. That’s not a long term solution for me. By the way, nowadays they both avoid each other and we all happily co-exist. There are other dogs too who are good friends with Max. Thanks for your comment. Because I am also one of those who take care of those street dogs. It’s not about winning or losing. We have to co-exist.

Why did you approach the dog? There's a lot of ways you could have done differently for avoiding that to happen. Or is this video just your test for people to you to see if people can see your mistakes? I'm not being mad... I'm just really confused.

Well, I really wanted to hear from people. But, rather than conditioning my dog to turn away, I prefer the street dogs who don't get along with us get conditioned to avoid us. Its been few days since this incident happened. And that dog and Max both avoid each other nowadays. In fact, when we come out from our residence, this dog maintains distance from us.

@@MaxtheGentleGiant That's interesting to know. Since my county doesn't have stray domestic animals those situations are rare and I would prefer staying away from those kind of situations as best as I can. That kind of behaviour by you may be better in your situation and area tho and I understand that. Thanks for your response 👍

Try this with a breed dog I.e. a rott or a bully kutta or another gsd for example, and you and your dog both will know who’s the boss. Scaring away stray dog with your large gsd is not acceptable.

But, Max or I, none of us want to try out any fight with anyone. We just want to finish our walks peacefully. And as long as we can do that, we are quite happy and content. Why should even we try out as you suggested? Didn’t understand that mentality in first place

Check the video again frame by frame. I didn’t even touch the dog. And, I have also very clearly called out why I have done that. I can’t stop coming out with Max. So I wanted both the dogs(Max and the other one) to have a bad experience which they will associate with each other. And as it proved, from next every single day they have both avoided coming near to each other as well.

Your way of handling the dog in this situation is wrong. The leash pressure and the way you are moving forward is telling the dog that you want him to go ahead and have a go at him.
That dog was avoiding you and you should also have avoided that dog. Not all dogs can be friends just like all humans cannot. They have their individual personalities. Do respect that.
I also have a german shepherd whom i walk around on busy streets often without a leash. When many unknown dogs approach us i command my dog to sit, stay and pay attention to me. Thats what you should be doing when your dog showed anxiousness when he saw that dog

In most of your videos you have no verbal control of your GSD and never stop him fixating on other dogs. You need training. If Max gets hurt it will be your fault because, as in this video, you lead him into confrontation with other dogs.

If you have seen our channel really you would have known much better. You believe something. TH-cam algorithms show only that kind of contents to you. Watch the videos directly from the channel. And know what Max was.

  • @Coo-

I don't think you should've avoided this situation at all, clearly the other dog was challenging Max first, the other dog needed to know that Max also lives here and to accept him. You handled him well by making Max tell the other dog who the area belongs to

You was walking towards the dog just to kick it😨Your dog should put you down and that's why you had got karma you tried to kick the dog but failed, you should of kept moving insteadt you wanted to be a dumb owner dragging your dog to fight. Instead of kicking that dog you should of walked or USED the leash to drag him away but no.

  • @penguinswithwifi
    @penguinswithwifi 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Ugh, you are an irresponsible dog owner. You don’t understand clues from your dog that he’s agitated and will react, OR you know he will and you’re doing it for the views on TH-cam. A street dog could get injured by Max. He’s not really a “gentle” dog, he’s a normal German Shepherd. They are aggressive and protective. You act as if he’s a gentle, calm, mature Labrador Retriever. Please do better.

That dog was minding his own business but you chose to invade that dogs's space with your gsd. You said "I had to intervene" , but you could have avoided that all in the first place. Really bad move from your part. I am unsubscribing rn
