This wasn't forced on her. She volunteered for this team knowing full well what to expect. The Senior cadets at her HS AFJROTC program had to have informed her of what to expect, and I'm sure the SAI's/AI's did as well (what ever the AFJROTC equivalent is). Why the fuck do the Marine corp DI's need to go easy on her? No they fucking don't. They're just as hard on anyone regardless of Age, Race, or Gender.
heronblackmane I agree with you there. Being part of a drill team you should be informed ahead of time before joining it about what drill meets you will go to and different inspections. However a lot of Marine DI’s I’ve heard are assholes. Wouldn’t surprise me if one of them screams at their wife and kids that way at home and take their work home with them. At least AF, Army and Navy instructors have an off switch.
Whoever is saying that this is "Child Abuse" needs to put things in perspective, it was simply a test of bearing. I know people that are 17 with more maturity than most 20 year olds I know. Besides Most people I know joined the Military (Marine Corps to be more specific) at 17 years old and got it a million and a half times worse than this. It just builds character.
Character isn't what people want. They want fee fees and hedonism.

They earn so many damn ribbons because they complete the requirements for them and some of them are easy to get

it's funny that first di is being nice, when I was in njrotc our team was inspected by di in preparation for nationals. all we heard from our master sergeant was no mercy. half of the team ended up crying
I remember my Senior Drill Instructor ripping apart one of those steel racks with his bare hands and just tossing it across the squad bay…..while I was alone in my rack pretending to sleep and sick as a dog. The good ole days 😅

+lflames92 Yeah, you kinda have to develop thick skin. I was in ROTC and my friend was next to me in ranks. The drill inspector got in her face, and she cried in ranks. They really don't take a liking to that either. I hated ROTC.

I'm a C/LTJG in NJROTC and I'm also the commander of the armed drill team in my unit. My team has never ever gotten this chewed out at an armed inspection by DI's this bad. Wow. Their team commander needs to straighten out his team and himself.
I don't even do the drill team and I never got chewed out this bad by any DI. We did a inspection at Parris Island and I only got ripped twice and the reason why was I stuttered on a General order cause I was too damn excited and the fact I knew more Marine Corps knowledge than the entire platoon and he scream "Wow fucking amazing just god damn amazing, you must be some fucking genius huh ?!" I felt so good inside I wanted to cry in joy. That trip was kickass.

Yes.. A Marine Instructor can do NJROTC... but just to be clear, you do not have to be a retired Drill Instructor to be a JROTC instructor. I knew a top who retired to a Navy high school program, and he was never a DI.

hey my AFJROTC unit's drill team will be competing here in 2011, (im the commander)... anyone have any tips or suggestions? this will be our first Drill Comp, ever (the team is only 3 years old), so we could use all the help we can get...

I just realised that the girl behind the 1st one looks like she's been doing this since coming out the womb and is a cadet airman and the one who looks like she's about to burst tears is a key staff! That is sad

I wish I had joined ROTC and I wish I could have joined the military I've always liked structure and the military would have given me that.

not in this scenario, it's allowed as part of inspection, and marines will scream at you, marines or not, if you're at inspection with them being the inspector, get your bearing ready

The guy who said airman basic, when he's and airman, reminds me of my first comp. Simple mistakes that screw yourself.
@JawsFan27 Shit happens... He's a great runner and had a good PFT so that probably helped. He actually showed some compassion for the recruits so maybe that helped even more. They could probably tell he wanted to train. DIs do it for two reasons, to fuck with recruits or to train Marines and make sure the Corps doesn't have shitbirds. I know they're supposed to learn close order drill commands during DI school so I don't know how he graduated from DI school.

Oh man, Sgt. Borjon. I can't believe he became an SDI. I knew this guy back in summer of 2009. His drill commands sucked. He didn't know the difference between a column right and a right oblique. SDI SSgt. Hodges was teaching him and it was the funniest shit. Best thing though was in the chow hall. He told a kid regular Cheerios, not the honey nut, was unhealthy. After he told the kid regular Cheerios was unhealthy he told him to get Chocolate Rice Krispies.
this isnt compared to the stuff we do here in Texas The DI's are extremeley crazy and we get graded by Captains, Senior Cheif Officers its just hell- Cadet 1SG Mungin From North Crowley High
Honestly I would start laughing before I started crying. This DI is way more funny than he is cruel. If she can't handle that then she should not be on the RDT or even be an officer. The enlisted cadets in that formation should be officers more than the actual officers there should.

Don't give this girl any sympathy, she chose to go to military school, she chose to be apart of the drill team, and they get inspected.
When they do they are shown their discrepancies and marked down, Marines (especially drill instructors) pride themselves on their uniforms and hate when others wear their uniforms with such disrespect as to not take the time to clean their weapon, take care of their uniform, or show a lack of intensity towards such an event.

This is not how armed inspection is conducted. An inspection is not about harassment. The "inspecting officer" fails to maintain his bearing and fails to maintain a position of attention while inspecting. You don't flail your arms around, move back and forth and you don't touch anyone's uniform.

I don't understand why Marines are drilling the Air Force.
They are at a drill meet usually they have military people from all branches to be judges. It seems here they just so happen to have Marine Drill Instructors.
Somebody has to teach them how to be in the military.
