I’ve tried so many crumpet recipes over the years and they’ve been average. However, your recipe is really, really good. My entire family want crumpets again tomorrow! Thank you.
Thanks for popping in and letting me know that they worked out for you. Really appreciate it. You sound like a real crumpet enthusiast just like myself. I did obsess over this recipe for a long time until it was perfect so I'm chuffed to bits that it's working for people. It's almost difficult to believe how much better homemade crumpets are when compared to shop bought. Thanks again!
You have a great sense of humour! 😂 i love crumpets! I lived in UK for four years and ate them so often with butter and honey on top. Felt a craving for them now and found your video. Gonna try this. Thank you!
I'm an ex. Brit. living in Thailand. Crumpets cost more that gold here. I have tried so may recipes but yours is simply the best (Tina Turner style!) I will be trying a few more of your recipes soon. Thanks.
Thanks for giving some feedback mate. Glad they worked out for you. I wonder if I'm also better than anyone you've ever met or whether you hang on every word I say. I hope so.
Good grief! You should have so many more subscribers and view! You made me laugh and for that, as well as the recipe without frills... I'm subscribing. Great work...from Cape Town, South Africa.
Your video randomly popped up on my feed, but I'm so glad it did! Because first off, I've never before heard about 'crumpets' before, and secondly, you're a hoot😂😂 great work, you've just got yourself another subscriber. Lots of love from Goa, India:)
Thanks so much for swinging by and leaving such a nice comment mate. I can definitely recommend crumpets to you. Maybe not as exciting as some of that lovely Indian food, but excellent nevertheless. We Brits do have a few delicacies tucked away in our cookbooks, no matter what anybody else thinks ;o)
The satire is comedy gold worked with many a smoggy , mackem, monkey hanger and Geordies. Great recipes first and foremost and greatpatter to boot. Keep it up mucker 👌
Grew up in shotton colliery, we would have called them pikelets . It's the old scone or scone debate.they are yours mate you call them what you want.Love the video and crack
Haha your commentary is hillarious ,laughed long and hard by heck 🤣 looks like yours is the best crumpet recipie i have seen .i bought rings but will not use them in future ,your right they are a blooming pain in the a**. 😊
A crumpet made without a ring is a pikelet which is what my family called a crumpet until we realised there was a difference. Therefore what you have made in the north of England is called a pikelet. Nevertheless you have made an excellent pikelet ( in Australia and New Zealand a pikelet is a drop scone but that is one of the differences between English and Antipodean English)
I'm curious too. I've never made them with gluten free flour before. Would be interested to hear how they turn out as they are pretty foolproof with normal flour
No they didn't turn out great but that was my problem. The mixture was thicker because of the glutenfree flour so I added more water, big mistake. Next time will follow the recipe 💯. Will try again. Thanks anyway.
I personally wouldn't do that. I don't like to expose hot food directly to foil. Plus, the mix would stick like crazy. Non stick molds are the only thing worth using if you want to go that way. Hope that helps.
@@TheTeessideChef Your a bad man lol ! Ive just made a new batch. I just fry them off and have with a fried egg and tomato sauce. I just didnt see the need for the milk
If you'd used crumpet rings you could have done a nice double entendre about buttering up your ring. Instead of toasting your pikelet, why not just turn up the heat on your pan to finish off the browning - saves a step. I feel guilty not subscribing, but cookery vids aren't my thing - sorry,
Can't believe I missed the opportunity to use 'buttering up my ring' in this video. Anyway don't feel guilty about not subscribing. Just come round and weed my garden next week and we'll call it even.
Crumpets with toppings cooked right in 😁: th-cam.com/video/FFDlnoqfRvs/w-d-xo.html
I love how you do these without rings! Half the work gone! Thank you.

No rings needed. I'm in, great recipe, love the sitcom references, and thats a fine north east accent you have.

This is a refreshing take on a crumpet. I would perhaps cook it even less just to keep it as moist as humanly possible.
Very good looking crumpet.
I find that if you cook them less and they don't dry out on top, when you flip them they go flat across the top and you don't get the holes anymore
@@TheTeessideChef You are absolutely correct. I tried making them yesterday and unfortunately they did not turn out well.
I moved from the UK to USA and i miss crumpets so much!
I cant get these to cook in the middle but ill keep trying. Thank you for the recipe!!
Now THAT looks like a proper "holy" crumpet!
This is my first time seeing one of your videos. I think I'm in love with you!
I've just finished packing my suitcase. Pick me up at 6 and we'll head to Gretna Green. I think this is going to work 😘

Both!
Now this is the type of recipe advice very funny and interesting at the same time 🤣 definitely going to try this recipe
You are hilarious and I love it! Can't wait to make these and take some to my English Mum!
Hahaha! Youre hilarious! Thanks. You made my day. Them crumpets look fantastic x

Thanks Traci. Very kind of you and I'm glad you enjoyed the video :o)
My crumpet in question loved eating these crumpets. I thank you.
Terry and June is still one of the most funnies TV shows ever made. Just getting beat by Love thy neighbour. Nice looking Crumpet.

Thanks a million. Glad you liked the video :)
Nice one
Brilliant! Thanks 😊
Thanks for letting me know you liked it. I've got a right spring in my step now :o)
The Teesside Chef making them now so I’ll let you know how I get on
Good on you mate.
Great to find someone who knows difference between pikelets and crumpets and doesn't mistake scotch pancakes for them either. Will have a go!!!!
Thanks for the recipe and the humour. Could it be prepared and left overnight before cooking?
No I wouldn't do that. You'd be best off cooking them in advance and freezing them. They freeze really well

Pikelets are smooth, not full of holes.
Thankyou so much !!! We also called these pikelets and so many people have told me I am wrong! Glad to find another intelligent person 🙌
Pikelets are moist. Crumpets are dry. Very different.
Nice work, how many did you get from the recipe amounts? thanks
In a medium sized frying pan you should get exactly 4 'pikelets' which I then cut into 4s - so 16 crumpets.
@@TheTeessideChef Infamy, infamy......
Ok I'm making these today with glutenfree flour so curious how they will turn out. Yours look lovely😊

You’re killing me 😂😂
Today i am going to make this
Beautiful! I'm living off grid in Canada..no rings and just a wood stove. Thanks. Woke, are you? :)
Peace from Canada.
I'm imagining you eating fresh crumpets while gazing out on that beautiful Canadian scenery and I'm all jealous now. Enjoy👍
Another subscriber here! Great video
I'd love to take two of these and turn it into a cheese burger! :P
I should do that and call it the Larry Bundy Jr burger ;o)
Seriously. This is about the 8th time I've run into you on some obscure, random channel. Karl would approve of this recipe.
I like how u talk.. so funny
Your are my new favourite omg 😆
Brit in US, how I miss Crumpet ;) Great job
Thanks mate. I can get these down the local shop but I'd still rather make my own. The difference has to be tasted to be believed tbh
Mate, you're a legend, funny as fuck and great inspiration to make food.
If the butter doesn’t run down your chin, have you even put enough butter on ?
Can I make the rings out of foil??
I personally wouldn't do that. I don't like to expose hot food directly to foil. Plus, the mix would stick like crazy. Non stick molds are the only thing worth using if you want to go that way. Hope that helps.
Not only informative but funny. 4:33
a woke smoggy chef, like it, I did google pikelets and you came up, well done
🤣🤣 Cheers
@@TheTeessideChef I made my wife these crumpets this morning, she's decided to give our marriage another go, thank you
🤣🤣
Class these like 👍
They are mate, even if I do say so myself. I make them regularly. In fact I made a batch last night and they're nearly all gone already lol
How does the salt know to stay away from the yeast once you mix it all up?
Ya sorry... Being a smart ass...
I made these last night but just used all water
Nice one. How were they?
@@TheTeessideChef Your a bad man lol ! Ive just made a new batch. I just fry them off and have with a fried egg and tomato sauce. I just didnt see the need for the milk

No hard to make the way you do it yippie xx don’t need to bay um now xx 😅😊xx
Rubber gloves make it look like and investigation into a tragic crime scene....Mmm..Crumpets ..❤️

Thanks mate. Much appreciated. So that's a no on weeding my garden then?
If it weren't for you, we Yanks would never get a good true taste of jolly old England. Thank you.
No eggs?
No eggs required for crumpet perfection 😋
Not that's a proper size for a crumpet! Oooooh yes.
Without the milk they are tagrites Greek pancakes
Oooh interesting. Never heard of them. I'm gonna check them out. Cheers
PHWOAR look at that
Nicely irreverent commentary! Lovely crumpets!
Lmao 😂
You haven't got the sugar on the ingredients list pet
Cheers me dear. I'll fix it 👍
Too much dried yeast to my taste. Consider putting much less, I put 1 teaspoon max for this amount of flour.
You’re far too woke for me but l’m definitely making some of these!
🤣🤣 Hope they work out for you
Sounds like youve been really hurt and embittered by 1970s tv. Really wierd.
