Chasing Spanish Mackerels off the coasts of Rompin & Tioman - Open Season 2023

My 3rd fishing trip to Rompin/Tioman and I would say it's the best one yet! The fishing was tough but that makes the catches so much more satisfying.
Managed to land a couple of good fish on both casting & jigging, ticked some new species off the list as well.
Shoutout to the kakis who made this trip an amazing one: Xi Yuan, Julian & Jeremy. And of course not forgetting our Boat Captain & Deckie: Ah Yan & Ah Bao!
Can't wait for the next trip!

I got the same boatman too w this young deckiee. Same route taken, first day was very bad..
Second day was better, honestly live bait chances are higher for us.

thats because they are shit at what they do, i recommend mat rompin if you want the real deal with a much better maintained boat and a wealth of exp.

what size assist hooks did you use bro? do you need to cast far for the tenggiri casting?

Hey bro, my Tengiri was on lure (Pintail 42g). Using size 2 decoy treble hooks. I will cast as far as I can to cover more ground but I've seen ppl drop it right it front of the boat and crank up from bottom, if the fish are around, it'll work too
