  • Making iced tea and tea soap is one of my favorite things. These cold processed bar soaps are vegan, palm-free, and fragranced with essential oils! Learn how to do multiple batches of soap in the same sitting and check out my recipes below.

    The recipe I used: Enter into soapcalc.net for your size mold.
    1.7:1 iced tea:lye ratio, 4% superfat
    28% olive oil
    33% coconut oil
    10% shea butter
    15% cocoa butter
    8% grapeseed oil
    6% castor oil
    Optional: 1 tsp / lb of oils sodium lactate & cane sugar (or add the sugar in with the hot tea) to harden bar & add bubbly lather
    Optional: 1 T kaolin clay / lb of oils (I added it to the Chai but not the Lemongrass Green Tea)
    Chai Tea Soap:
    Chai tea for lye solution.
    Mix in Chai tea powder and cocoa powder to darken. I used a peppercorn medley & pumpkin pie spice (just a light dusting) on top for botanicals.
    Essential oil blend: small amounts of cardamom, clove, cinnamon bark, nutmeg, ginger, and anise (eocalc.com says not even to use some of these so check safe amounts on there and do very small amounts for what works for you as personal use) - smells very much like a spice shop!
    Lemongrass Green Tea:
    Lemongrass Green Tea for lye solution.
    Mix in green tea powder to darken swirl. Top with the lemongrass sticks that are leftover from steeping the tea.
    Essential oil blend: You can use a green tea fragrance (Nature's Oil and New Directions Aromatics both have one that I like) or stick with Lemongrass and Palmarosa Essential oils. 2/3 palmarosa or fragrance, 1/3 lemongrass. Enter into eocalc.com for your size batch to find a safe amount.
    Note: I make these videos for your entertainment (and my own!). Please make sure you understand proper/safe handling of lye before attempting to make soap. I am not responsible for the results of your soap making.

    What are your favorite teas? Do you use labels like this when you soap?

      Thank you! 🥰 Our house isn't very big so it's basically a cabin in the woods! I love bears, moose, and pine trees ❤️ This is basically our entire basement. Gets crowded quickly!

    Wow!! These are beautiful! I especially love the swirl on the lemongrass soap! Stunning ! I learned a few tips from your processes too! OMG.
    -mason jars for the win
    -double boiler technique for melting down hard oils
    -measuring lye into an old empty lye container to save on clean up is genius and probably safer (It will definitely prevent me from
    worrying about scraping every last bit of lye out of a measuring cup and then having to clean an extra container and spoon.)
    I dunno if I have the patience to do two batches at once but it’s definitely a time saver!! One day!
    I just made two successful batches of coffee soap. Can’t wait to try your techniques out with Earl Grey and green tea!
    Thanks for sharing your processes! ❤

      @wildbackyardsoaps  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sounds amazing! I love Earl Grey tea!
      I have switched to a stainless steel pot since this filming for the lye solution just because there's no risk of cracking that way ;)

    The chai soap is my favorite but is it an exfoliating one since you put chai tea powder inside ? Very nice soaps indeed and very informative.Isabelle

    • @wildbackyardsoaps
      @wildbackyardsoaps  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, even the smallest granules like pumpkin pie spice can be felt in the final bar so adding in tea granules will make it slightly exfoliating. If you don't want that feel, either add less or opt for cocoa powder instead

    so is it the chai tea itself that made it so dark or was that because of the essential oil blend

    im wondering if you do not sell the chai tea soap?

    • @wildbackyardsoaps
      @wildbackyardsoaps  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I haven't made one in a while. I rotate my inventory seasonally. Right now I have a fallen leaves soap that is a similar combo of tea and essential oils, but totally different design :)

    I'm sorry I'm confused but why did you add sugar?

    • @wildbackyardsoaps
      @wildbackyardsoaps  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hehe, not for tasting! Any form of sugar in soap helps boost lather. That is the main reason for adding sugar, honey, milks, etc. Just be careful not to add too much and soap at a lower temp because it will cause the batter to heat up more.

    Being chai is just tea I'm confused which chai is one of your favorites

    • @wildbackyardsoaps
      @wildbackyardsoaps  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @MrCervasio1 I'm specifically referring to Chai tea that has the typical spices found in Chai such as cinnamon and nutmeg. Green tea is totally different
