I agree it is a beautiful, but expensive country, and very nice people. We visited Switzerland a couple of years ago, September is ideal to go, we drove from north Italy to Bern; everything is beautiful and amazing infrastructure. Food is very simple though, but a lot of good bread and delicious cheese.
This was the best Swiss info I’ve seen. I lived there. As a kid my friends and I used to love to find one of those arsenal buildings that look like homes. In the hills they were often unlocked but there was a wall inside blocking you from accessing the guns. The interior walls would have holes so you could see the arsenal. Very surprising. They are very serious about their quiet and laundry rules, but it’s kind of nice to be in such an orderly place. I don’t think I could adjust to living there as an adult. That ‘raclette’ was very strange. You should have put it plus the sausage into one big sandwich. The waitstaff probably would have told you that you aren’t allowed to.
In Switzerland, the median price for houses on the market is CHF 1,200,000. One CHF will get you about 0.92 dollars. In other words, they might have the highest minimum wage but the cost of a home there is out of reach for most.
1 US$ equals 0.9 CHF. Yes life is expensive for visiting tourists but it is ok for locals since their purchasing power is among the world's highest. Yet since there has been little inflation in the last decade, unlike in neighboring countries, prices tend to align with theirs. Also, tax rates are half those in France or Germany. This is why so many well off foreigners move to Switzerland. As a result, this small country could soon be overpopulated and thus no longer that pleasant to live in.
Como é que tudo o que é brasileiro consegue entrar na Suiça e eu Europeu de nascença vejo a minha entrada na Suiça sempre cheia de entraves ?..... devia ser brasileiro ?
WOW! what a wonderful video! great work and effort! makes me love my country even more and recognizing things i didnt even know yet =P ...come have a fondue or racelette and olma bratwurst @ my home (wich has no access to a road and costs only 500 bucks a month) and you will enjoy it lol! green love m.
So the Swiss have the highest life expectancy. But what for? Living with laws that regulate even the time you are allowed to use your own toilet? And worse than that, people watch you Argus-eyed and report you to the police. America is the opposite of that. For example, legally, everything that is not specifically forbidden, you are free to do. And the general attitude is that it's the policeman's job to enforce regulations, not of your fellow citizens'. Good chocolatiers they might be, but good neighbors?
That's probably a bit one-sided, I've had more negative experiences with the police in North America than in Switzerland. I don't think you've lived in both countries to be able to judge that. But basically the Swiss are happy that they don't have more immigrants. That's why it's good when the same strange things keep coming up (toilet flushing at night) that may have previously been the case in old, uninsulated apartments. Be that as it may, North Americans are more patient as tenants than in Switzerland and can tolerate a lot of noise. So it's a bit easier to be a landlord in North America than in Switzerland.
@@fredymader1750 Indeed, I only know Switzerland from this video and "The Visit" by Durrenmatt. But you must admit, neither of those are overly complimentary of the Swiss - though the panorama is gorgeous.

@@fredymader1750You can't say categorically that Americans bully non-white people. For one thing, being American is not a racial definition, but a sense of belonging, regardless of ethnicity. Nonsense, Switzerland *does not have a legally defined capital.* Bern just happens to be the seat of the Swiss Parliament and Federal Council. BTW Switzerland also does not (never has had) have a president. The nominal president is merely chair of the 7 member Federal Council, is cyclically changed every year, and does not have any special "presidential powers" i.e. is _primus inter pares" or *the first among equals* ...

I as a swiss can tell you, eating raclett like this is a crime and I agree the food looks illegal.
Great video! Thanks a lot!

Thanks for the video and very well done my friend! What I want to know is where in the world are the best placed to retire?
The most expensive country in the world? The prices for the items you listed are either the same or less than in the U.S.A..
Switzerland is not expensive because it has a high minimum wage. It has a high minimum wage because it's expensive to live there.
Thanks for sharing
