Vain Man is a in-joke somewhere.
It's from a Megaman level design contest, MaGMML (Make a Good Megaman Level).
And the level won last place.

Yup. Though the original level Vain Man is based on is actually called "Objective: Vain Space", and it's actually a parody of another level that won last place in a contest, being "Mission: Proud Sky" from the Super Mario Bros. X "Make a Good Level X" contest. The name "Objective: Vain Space" is actually a rewording of "Mission: Proud Sky".

That's sad that the most down voted level was down voted because it was hard.

I beat it, is a brutal unfair level which at least is a quick one with 2 part, and the second screen is waaaayy more hard than the first so no one played and yet still get as the most down voted level hahaha
Ok, Vain Man was at least a reference to the "Make a Good Mega Man Level" contest's level "Vain Space" which is much of the same. That got me to chuckle.
And vain space is a reference to Proud Sky, from MAGLX.
Really? (Looks it up) That's either really cool or really sad that Vain Space was a harder level due to near-invisible spikes. But the fact that it goes back that far is actually pretty cool.
@@TheDekuSlayor It's not so much invisible spikes as much as only a small portion of the bottom screen is programmed as a screen transition. The rest counts as a bottomless pit.
#2 had to be beaten in order to be published. Probably put a hidden I win icon somewhere.
To be honest the most downvoted one was probably the most honest experience.
It WAS a taste of what was to come.
Fun Fact: If you manage to beat the most downvoted level, in the game's official Discord Server you're being given a special role named 52 (reffering to the ID of the level.)
The invisible spikes at 4:47 aren't actually invisible - there's a slight white mark toward the top.
Sure are annoying when you can't quite judge the hitbox though.
Soooo... Surely I'm late to explain this, but A Taste of What's to Come was apparently the first level ever uploaded. And it was a joke from the devs.
Pretty good joke though since we did end up getting stuff like that but unironically.

My dad kept a period table chart in the garage so he knew when to avoid my mom and sisters. Which was cool. Periodic tables (as in 'of the elements') are for nerds.
Mega Maker is probably my favorite fan-made game of all time, and I think it beats Mario Maker by a longshot.

You realize in number two that those were b!ack spikes on a black background? Not legit invisible, there are little reflections on them
they even reference that in their desc. "Optimized for stealth against a black background."

right at the beginning of the level after you make the jump on the ice. You slide to the next part of the level and when you slide hold right or else you get hit by the spikes that would kill you if you just walk normally

A Taste of What's To Come is so difficult, even beating the first screen should be an accomplishment of its own.

I almost made this list with my level, Bouncy Fun Times.
5 years later, AToWtC, Do Not Play at Home, YMDTL (a level not on this list), and simple tutorial (in that order) are somehow the top 4 WORST levels ever.

kaizo technecly can't be used for games like mario maker or mega maker, because kaizo means re-arranged in japanize, and it just turned out the first popular kaizo level was extremly difficult. so by that logic mario maker and mega maker are both kaizo games, because they are re-arranged mario levels or mega man levels.
On the invisible stick level if you slide to the right at the end you will go into the next room

Bramble I think you can see the spikes on 2# you can see white pixels the spikes are just black like the back ground

My level is bad. It's poorly tested and there are some bugs. But hey atleast it's nonlinear. And it has a cool name "Megas XLR".
Unless it gets taken down from it's Creator, ,,A taste of what's to come" will forever be the most downvoted Level in Mega Man Maker.
