In any case, a lot of people (myself included) choose to believe that Sumeru was the initial trigger because it gives Paimon a little more depth as a character (which she kinda needs now that the archons have acknowledged her importance in relation to Traveler)

I love how Epilogue was literally the funniest part of the whole event and it was really cozy and comfortable. The nomination scene is just pure comedy with those claps and I love how Chongyun takes a moment before looking at the traveler...

Interesting fact! Dvorak, or actually correctly written Dvořák, is a Czech name! It was also a surname of a world-famous music composer Antonín Dvořák. I'm sure you've heard some of his work like the well-known symphony no 9 'From the New World'. Anyway, that's why it doesn't sound very..ehh french haha. I'm sure you won't have as much of a hard time pronouncing the french names as you would have with some of the Czech ones. Especially the ones containing the letter Ř. As a person from Czechia myself, I was so pleasantly surprised to see some representation in the game and that they actually attempted to pronounce the name correctly!! It made me so happy.

I find it interesting that Moravia is a part of Fontaine (probably because of its wine-making industry) instead of Mondstadt, despite being closer to Germany both culturally and geologically.
I wonder if we'll be seeing a lot more Czech names in the future.

The part of Czech republic that's probably the most fitting to be part of the Fontaine instead of Shneznaya like probably the rest of the Slavic nations or Mondstadt as u said (tho I guess Čechy jsou bližší Německu, obzvlášť Sudety než Morava) is Moravia! I didn't realize that omfg, fo course it's the wine! And still, as whole, Czech republic/Czechia is famous for its music and artistry (and back in the day for its technological progress as well), it kinda really make sense why they put us in with them. Maybe we will be somewhere between Mondstadt and the Fontaine, with the new areas coming and all. I'd love to see some more czech names appearing!
Maybe Czech republic will be split! The Moravian (a Slezsko) part will be in Fontaine and the Bohemian part more in Shneznaya or perhaps "to be added" Mondstadt parts

The reason why Xiao became really nervouse when Zhongli and Venti are proposing a toast is because in traditional Chinese culture， having someone older than you propose a toast to you means shorten one's life by over-indulgence, that's why on the new year family gatherings the youngest one are required to propose first

idk why people thought the dinner was cringe, it’s natural for the people there to be nervous around each other considering the circumstances (national team meeting someone like zhongli and xiao, others having to pretend they’re meeting for the first time) so yeah it’s kinda awkward but not unbearably so, wouldn’t say cringe though
also i’m definitely biased towards hu tao lol i’ve been maining her since her first rerun and find her endearing, i get that it’s a little much for ppl at times though

Hu Tao had previously suspected Zhongli to be Morax, so it's quite suspicious how she tried hard to prove that. Inviting Xiao along, asking him about being an adeptus, asking how Xingqiu met Venti, etc.
Paimon also got some question mark moments here and there. Like how she completed venti's poem on the time part, and also how she takes offense to the "no sense of time", but also how she has seperation anxiety :(

Also Zhongli use a lot of words which show respect to Xiao in Chinese version,and the way he speak to Xiao is like the youngsters speak to the elders.Zhongli lowered his status,and Xiao is overwhelmed,he doesn't dare to take that honor."Rex Lapis" in Chinese is "岩王帝君"which means "King and Lord of geo",when you get the point,you will find it hilarious but not awkward.
A 3 hour video I can binge until I fall asleep for tonight. Lantern rite has been memorable each year and I love how they do it every year! I'm very happy that I was able to participate in every single one of them.

BTW, the poem Venti say before Hutao say her poem, tho Venti say this is a Mondstadt poem, it sounds more like Liyue poem than Mondstadt poem
It is either Venti mimics Liyue poem to mock Zhongli, or the poem is written by Zhongli and send to Venti
I personally think Paimon is allowed to make up stupid nicknames for other characters with the amount of times everyone calls Paimon "Emergency Food" or "Tiny fairy child".
Also I really do like Paimon! She's such a fun mascot character and it does make me a little sad that your chat is always just full of bullying Paimon, but I'm just glad that you're one of those rare Genshin Streamers that actually likes Paimon! Even if you do occasionally get annoyed with her which is incredibly understandable with how some of the VA direction seems to go. (I feel like the ENG VA is fine. But the CN VA just sounds so much more soothing.)

Fun fact: the names of the secretaries Baixiao 百曉, Baishi 百識, Baiwen 百聞 all have meanings. The word "Bai" means hundred as in 100. Their Chinese names literally translate to Baixiao = knowing a hundred things (could be skills or knowing of what's happening), Baishi = knowing a hundred things (in terms of knowledge), Baiwen = hearing a hundred things. It would seem that the three of them literally are each an extended eyes and ears of Ningguang, that they have to report everything they heard, learned, or saw to her.
I found Paimon being chosen for the incense burning very very cute.
This year's Lantern Rite was even better than the previous year's. Dunno if you found them later, but you can interact with the others too, There are Xiangling, Xingqiu, Hu Tao and Chongyun, Yun Jin and Xinyan, you can find Baizhu and Qiqi, Xiao, Yaoyao and Yanfei too

2:32:23 I can explain this: in Chinese culture, it is not appropriate to accept the toast raised from the elders or someone superior than you. This is considered super disrespectful and people believe your longevity will decrease if you do so. That is why Xiao felt very embarrassed and uncomfortable. In the four human kids mind, Xiao is obviously the most honored guest and he was qualified to accept any toast from other "young humans". But Zhongli and Venti are actually elders and superior gods. Xiao was not supposed to accept their toast But he couldn't tell the truth as well.

When I did my Lantern Rite, right when Cloud Retainer began her story, it actually also began to rain in my world. When she ended, it ended. Needless to say, I took pictures. The weather change added to the mood of the story significantly. It made it so much more melodramatic, theatrical...and a ton other adjectives I can't pen down at once because it was so beautifully sad.
Side note: I mourned the loss of a character I can never play. Also the fact Zhongli looked good in those robes. Skin when? WHEN HOYO!?

I am 100% convinced Hu Tao and Venti plotted together to put this dinner together. I can see Venti visiting Zhongli last Lantern Rite to catch up with his friends after all these years and Hu tao was with Zhongli in that cutscene so they could have met and Hu Tao absolutely seems like she knew for a time that Zhongli was Rex Lapis and would understand that Venti is Barbatos but would still treat them as random guys. She was probably ready to stir up trouble and Venti wanted to see his friends and join in, so they pranked.
1. Adepti are pretty much like Immortals from Chinese legends. They can change their appearance freely, they don't age, they can't fall ill (unless it's some supernatural bullshit and there is a lot of bullshit in those legends), and basically can't die unless killed. Interesting thing is that because their bodies can't change its "state" women immortals can't have children of their own which is probably why they are so fond of taking lost children from vicinity as students XD
2. Another thing is that Chinese poetry is reaaaallly hard to translate and Hu Tao is THE MASTER of unconventional poetry XD Since there was so much of it during this lantern rite, the translators just settled up with confusion XD Awkward is the best word to describe most of Hu Tao's voice lines in English, nothing new here 🤷

Zhongli and Venti throwing shade at each other was the highlight of this Latern Rite.
The story of madame Ping and guizhong is actually a reference to a Chinese legend: Buoya and Ziqi.
In ancient China, the two were good friends. Buoya was good at playing the guzheng, and Ziqi was good at listening the sound of guzheng. When Buoya played the guzheng while thinking about mountains, Ziqi felt the majestic mountains from the sound of music; when Buoya played the guzheng thinking about flowing water, Ziqi felt the vast rivers. After Ziqi's death, Buoya never played the guzheng again, because he knew that no one could understand his music like Ziqi.
Two gods and an adept came to a gathering with the mistress of the funeral home... The four-star characters are blessed in their ignorance.
I like how this year's Lantern Rite brought some of the attention back to the actual festival itself and the cultural aspects of Liyue like the first Lantern Rite. Last year's just didn't have that same feeling since all the hype was on the rebuilding of the Jade Chamber and the event story was more of a Keqing story quest that just happened to take place before at Lantern Rite.

BTW Guizhong's dress has like this scattering effect on the ends because Guizhong was the God of Dust and gods are beings that sometimes manifest some attributes of their element/power. Dust scatters when blown by he wind.

This was my first lantern ride (started playing last year two weeks after the 2022 one had ended lol), and I enjoyed it so much. It was so well made.
My only criticism would be the English translation of the Hu Tao and Xinyan song in the cutscene. Chinese and Japanese sounded so much better, they should have given the English VA Team a bit more freedom in translating, cuz an exact 1:1 translation of a song is pretty hard.
I still didn't assume until this.. quest that Streetward Rambler made a choice on looking like an old lady... and not an adepti who actually grow old....🤧

Thinking about Guizhong's death and reading more about her and morax made the cutscene more painful for me.
Also I love the tune that madame ping plays. Guizhong really has a big effect impact on their lives.

Everyone thinks they are good hiding secrets in the banquet but the the award goes to Paimon. She is the most secretive there.
The thing about Madame Ping: I think the adepti has the ability to "de-age" aka make themselves physically young again. It's safe to say they have "aged" in the sense of maturing over the years and their minds have grown in wisdom. Like, look at Xaio - he looks like a teenager yet he's very old. If he wanted too, he could make himself appear older, but i think he doesn't care as long as regular humans don't bother him as much. For Madame Ping, i would like to think she chose to age herself into an elder for a few reasons: physical symbolizing she's an old adepti; be an unsuspecting old woman in Liyue Harbor; or the idea of growing old to make time feel like it's going forward. It's already hard to tell how much time as passed in regular life, so how would you tell if time moved forward if you don't physically age with it? As for her fingers' dexterity, i think of it more as she hasn't practices the zither in decades, which would mean her fingers and movements wouldn't be as smooth as if she played the instrument everyday. Without constant practice, your fingers are bound to become stiff and tense.

I just got into Genshin around the time this came out, and this quest said I should complete some other quest to get the 'full experience', so I didn't 'quick start' and completely missed this!!! Honestly idk why twitter made such a big deal out of the performance… Xinyan sang amazingly, Hutao’s first part was slightly off beat but nothing too bad, and the singing part was really good. Kinda sad to see the way they reacted especially because Hutao’s VA wants to be a singer🥲
