    What a beautiful and powerful message.❤ life is definitely way too short and we shouldn't take one second of it for granted. We were all put here on this beautiful earth to enjoy and share. 😊 I absolutely love your new computer and vintage audio equipment setup. Amazing job! 👍

      Yeah. I've been thinking about Ocean Colour Scene's song 'Profit in Peace' since watching this video. It's all so pointless, the negativity. We forget that the sand timer is running.

    Your wisdom and philosophy is very appreciative. We need more folks expressing themselves with that life approach.

    What a transformation! It's true what you said, that we are on borrowed time. Some choose to squander time, other choose to embrace it lovingly. Love and hate are things that are impossible for humans to fully understand, so it saves time to just accept that they exist. Nevermind the egos, let them fall. Stick to what truly matters in your heart, and be content. Happiness starts with the individual.

      Yes, my vintage hi-fi setup at least doesnt feel like it's being absorbed by my modern computer build.
      And Beautifully said Shawn, I couldn't agree more.

    Among other things, people see you are very genuine and you exude a kind of playful innocence that's makes your videos a very pleasant experience. That's one big reason why we like you so much. Watching a video of yours is like coming over to visit and hang out with a good friend. :-)

    • @MsMadLemon

    It's funny you mentioned how that after a while being in a awkward sitting position your body really lets you know that wasn't a good idea. I know first hand on how you feel yesterday I got out my soldering iron and realized I no longer have the wooded desk to use for repairs because I went with glass that really left one place the floor and you know after being down there a while , I was regretting getting rid of my work space. Your space is look much better. Thank you for the laughs.

    you nailed it Madija. also on the 1:38 statement. i think that sometimes to often. so i don't have any deskspace left.
    and the things you speak out from 4:10 till 6:00 really did touch me......now you got me speech-less....... i think sometimes we all have to "take a sad song and make it better".
    so keep your chin up head held high and chest out. and keep up the good work. thumbs-up!!!

    Sorry for my absence MsLemon :( I loved your philosophy on life in this video, I agree 110% and have been saying that to many myself of late.
    It's not morbid at all, it's reality and recognition of the life we should lead within the knowledge you've expressed.
    And that's a beautifully laid out set up, I need to rearrange too and pick up an old Amp for the Amiga like I used to have back in the day :) :)

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm quite used to your absence by now lol ;o))
      Life really is too short, no one is superior nor inferior because of their colour, race or affiliation. We're indeed only here for a short time and each of us have one shot at it. Love and peace are the only way to make the most of life.
      And thank you! Yes you must pick up a nice vintage amp, it's a must to enjoy the Amiga's music and sound to it's fullest :o)

    Some wonderfully deep philosophy in this one - the zen of rearranging the room and getting back all that energy, and making it a living space. But 5:00 of course you know I agree with you 100%. I was talking about this at Blackpool and was told I shouldn't be so pessimistic and nobody knows how long we have left. But nobody possesses anything, nobody owns anything, we come with nothing and all which remains are the things we leave behind. Our treasures are the things we care about, which maybe nobody else cares about, and what is priceless for me is not material things, comments or fan love letters online, but support and understanding, perhaps with some respect and appreciation.
    All of the hate and the abuse we suffer is not fair, and there is swearing and hatred spread even on Lemon, and as a moderator I get abuse for my moderation and trying to keep things open and friendly. Im not against free speech, but swearing and abuse only attracts more of that behaviour. As a civilisation I hoped were were beyond this culture, but as the internet grows and we are able to post comments almost anonymously, it might be easy to say a whole bunch of stuff and upset a whole bunch of people, in the name of 'free speech'.
    Perhaps it is a little scary, but I feel there is a part of you which wants to get a few things off your chest, and perhaps talk seriously about things which are affecting yourself and lots of people. It may not be Chillout Time, perhaps Maddi's Mad Time, but its not ok to pretend life is all about fun and games, and that the internet cant be used to share light as well as love.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well it's not being pessimistic, just realistic, it's actuality and many find that a bit difficult to digest that they wont live forever.
      That's the thing, you can never teach people about life, each person's is experience is unique and it's about if one reflects on it and learns from it or not, that's their responsibility, some do, some don't and
      can end up competitive, envious, jealous or bitter, resulting in passive aggression which is pointless and a waste of life to be honest, they're only kidding themselves.
      With regards to comments or "fan love letters" they mean nothing if the feeling behind them is non existent. However comments depend on how genuine the person is who is giving them, it's just a means of communication. If someone genuinely tries to make you feel better about your day in comments or encourages you, or helps you and the effect passes on successfully, then that classes as support and understanding in my book.
      We can only share what we've learned from experience and hope we learn from it and better our lives and hopefully people will take it on board. We all learn from each other after all. But it's our responsibility to choose to learn.
      Free speech comes with responsibility, but many don't wish to take the responsibility of free speech. A quote which i've had on my facbeook quote collection for a while:
      "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid."
      ~kierkegaard søren
      Spot on.
      The internet can't be used to share light as well as love? i'm guessing that's a typo and you meant can, because its possible to share light and love over this means of communication, if you make someone smile or laugh, you've shared some light, you've brightened their day and your own too.

    • @lifeschool
      @lifeschool 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. With love letters I just meant some people depend on comments and tweets and messages for support, and for me it all gets a bit habitual to say "have a nice day,". Sometimes I used to think comments and pick me ups were like the meaning of life. But they more they perked me up, the higher and longer I fell when someone kicked me down - which happens for me a lot, so esteem comes from within, and is a precious thing.
      Yes you can spread love as well as light. People pretend that they cant talk about these things online, and I myself put off sharing in case it only makes things worse for someone. But I think people can change their minds about things from seeing and hearing, as I've changed my mind about lots of things after watching youtube videos. You have a much better way to explain things which I cant, and I love your quote, so maybe a chillout quotes video, or poetry time?
      These are just ideas, so please dont think I'm pushing for changes. I would love to see more walkman rescues and how your chili plant is growing. :) I re-wrote this several times and as usual I dont really know what I'm trying to say. But hopefully you understand I'm probably not saying anything which you didnt know already.

    Love me a good reorganising video. I'm actually trying to fit my tape collection into the media room right now, and someone fromt he synthwave community gave me the tip to buy some Ikea Bekvam Spice racks. The tapes fit perfectly! So I'm putting 'em on the ceiling (attic, sloped ceiling). Now that's good use of space! Cheers Maddi, thanks for sharing!

    I understand your sentiments in this video (life too short etc), however, some of us have major issues that ruin our quality of life (I include myself among that number)..I would give almost anything to have your outlook on life I really would 🙁..still love your channel (even if 99% of the electronics is over my head) 🙂

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think a lot of us, if not all of us, have had issues that ruin our quality of life, in fact I think it's going through those issues which causes us to feel that we need to live life more (providing we contemplate and learn from it)..Life puzzles me, I get the "I wonder why I am here" feeling a lot, which brings on these kind of thoughts and feelings.
      We're all swimming the tides, we need to learn to help each other to shore instead of competing and trying to drown each other in order to get to shore first.
      I'm happy to hear you enjoy my channel :o)

    Thanks for showing us all the real meaning of what life should be all about. I appreciate your honesty and teaching us all wise words of wisdom about doing what's best for oneself. :)
    I love the way you got your creative space rearranged, and it makes me now consider several points in life: A) my office arrangement sucks, B) I should get a different desk without all these annoying "backs" attached to them, C) holy crap your stereo equipment is drool worthy, and D) AAAARGH STILL NEED AN AMIGA 1200! xP
    But thank you, Maddi, for this video. Seriously, I mean that. I'm now going to consider ripping my office up and rearranging it into a better, more creative environment for myself and un-stifle my own creativity. :)

      I'm happy to hear that i've helped inspire positivity in whatever form, I hope you end up arranging your space in a more ideal way, mine definitely is as it was very awkward before. Haha my hi-fi setup, I love it and I dont know how I went on without one for all those years of being Miss Practical lol.
      Sure it's brought more stuff into my life but i'm happier! Things are less dull.
      Yes you need a freakin A1200 :op lol

    It would have been hard to pick a better Nostaligia Time moment! :)
    Nice to see the result! Your whole apartment seems so cozy.. ;o) And don't worry about the mess. I think most people are more messy, than they'd like to admit.
    Yes, we only live once. We should all carpe diem, but it's not always easy. Often, when I go to bed, I'm thinking "what the hell did I do today??".. Life is not for beginners..

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Haha It was indeed a memorable one :o)
      I must admit, I was a touch nervous about showing the mess, but then I thought meh.. I'm glad you like the room, thanks! This one is a little more personal than usual, it's even the talkie thing going on which was unplanned but, I suppose things need to be said.
      I agree, life needs to come with an instruction manual but it doesnt, the only way to truly learn is to experience. And it can take quite a number of years to learn to live in the moment. My point was more about war, fighting, conflict, even between people, ego battles, pettiness. It really is a waste of time, life and just pointless.

    • @CasualCommodore
      @CasualCommodore 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Right, I messed up again. I love that.. :/ And I knew that about half an hour after I posted, but it would be dumb to edit that much after that long.
      But I do agree with everything you say, as do most people. Unfortunately, everything in between an argument and wars between countries, will always be a thing. It's in the nature of human beings. :( A sad thought. It seems hopeless, but I really hope we prevail in the long run.
      But hey.. Let's just try and not think about it too much, and enjoy our tech! :o)

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually, you didnt mess up, because it applies both ways :o)
      I think when we start being able to be at peace with ourselves and others, even on a personal level, then we have prevailed unfortunately we cannot solve worldly issues but. at an individual level, it then has it's way of spreading :o)

    A focusrite soundcare? Nice!! You might wanna consider sampling with that instead of your amiga cartridge.

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      the conversion process to make the sample work on the Amiga will end up with the same result.

    • @infesticon
      @infesticon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well the sampler cartridges are pretty basic stuff, A focusrite soundcard is like having a mega exspensive 16 bit sampler. Though I agrea the conversion process is tricky once I figured it out I would never go back to a sampling cartridge.

    • @infesticon
      @infesticon 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I should add it's not just the bits. Threre's loads of other spcae age tech for making better waveforms plus the fact focusrite are famos for thier pre amps *shuts up about this now*

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah but there's not really much point going through all that effort if the sound quality ends up being the same, it would just be better to use the sampler lol

    • @MsMadLemon

    Wow, Excellent job re-organizing your equipment! Huge improvement. Can you come to my place? Lol ;-) That is an awesome room. Love the mix of vintage audio gear and vintage computers. It is so true. Life is very short and passes by so quickly. Sometimes you just have to stop and play Amiga games! Also, great job with the music. Didn't realize you composed and performed it. Awesome!

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Haha vintage audio and vintage computers go together so greatly, it's must to have the Amiga connected to an amp!
      Thanks, yes they're actually my early Amiga compositions but have been expanded on, the intro is in the original Amiga form though.
      Thanks Bill :o)

    • @TheGuruMeditation
      @TheGuruMeditation 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MsMadLemon That is awesome. If you ever release them ad MODs or mp3's let me know. I would love to chill with them. They are very relaxing. I need that! It is funny. I am not an audio or music guy at all. I have no talent with it, but there us something absolutely magical about audio equipment - especially the vintage stuff. I love vacuum tubes and reel to reel machines. One of the best pieces if gear I ever used was a Nagra portable recorder. I was sad when DAT took over!

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I dont have them up as MP3s nor MODs yet however I do have some of them on my soundcloud account (which needs to be updated!)
      soundcloud.com/msmad-lemon
      I agree about the audio equipment, you dont have to be into music making to appreciate music and vintage audio. I was happy to see a reel to reel recorder at your parents place, seeing those things somewhere just makes me smile :o)
      Niagra portable recorder...This, or similar? : s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/62/64/5e/62645e42ca986c911df918ca795ac26c.jpg
      I didnt know DAT took over to that extent, but I have to say i'm not as fond of DAT as I am with compact cassette or minidiscs.

    • @TheGuruMeditation
      @TheGuruMeditation 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool! Thanks for your soundcloud. My dad is an old audio engineer so he has all sorts of great recording equipment including a wire recorder! That thing is awesome. The Nagra recorder I learned how to record audio on is the Nagra 4. Here is a link to the beauty. www.nagraaudio.com/iv-stc/ It was the industry standard for location sound recording until DAT tape took over in the late 1990's. Basically every move that you watched up until the late 1990's was recorded with a Nagra 4 or one of the earlier models. I would love to get my hands on one sometime soon!

    • @MsMadLemon
      @MsMadLemon  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does indeed look a beauty! I would try to get hold of one if I were you :o)
      it's a part of your creative past no? I know by today's standard all this vintage equipment is bulky and impractical, but it's more fun to use. I hope you do get hold of one, it's way too cool!

    Very nice set up and a good use of a small space. i need to learn to use my space in my retro cave as wisely. Completely agree with your message too. as for divide and conquer tactics going on in today's society. I haven't as well and my literature knowledge is also very small :o)) but making these remarks makes me look highly educated ;o) It seems that this famous scene with the skull, according to some, has a meaning similar to what you have expressed at some point in the video..: " The contrast between Yorick as "a fellow of infinite jest, of most excellent fancy" and his grim remains is a variation on the theme of earthly vanity: death being unavoidable, the things of this life are inconsequential." =o) I love wikipedia :-D hahaha

      LOL! I was going to say that your literature knowledge isn't as small as you think until I read "I love wikipedia" :o))

      Actually I heard about this from a conference given by a comedian which was about Humor in the face of death and the sense of humor of God. His theory was that humor does not change anything, cannot fix anything... but is like the spices of life.. helps to swallow the reality more easily. :-D And humans are the only creatures which are aware of their finite existence... and are also the only which consciously laugh.

      and congratulations for the table recycling. People nowadays live in this frenetic and consumerist driven society creating huge amount of waste. There are so much great stuff that are just thrown away or that can be bought for little money which are incomparable higher quality than the average stuff which can be bought from a regular shop.

      Thanks, I'm already onto the Soundtracker Pro 2 tutorials, they do take some time to plan and do so doing them amongst other projects. As stated in my last music tracker video, You don't need a MIDI keyboard but it's recommended.

    I think your turntable has the same cartridge as mine. The original Ortofon Concorde, right? Is that an original stylus? I was looking for a replacement STD stylus for mine, but they are hard to come by. Had to retrofit an Ortofon 10 stylus in the end.
    Fun video. For some reason I find it fun to see other people work spaces.

    Do you think you could make/edit a couple of these in 4:3? (not widescreen) but still in the glorious HD resolution you record in? I'd love to watch your videos on my CRT television!
    GREAT write up btw on life..
