I felt a strong pull to get closer with Jesus at the end of last year, so I reached out to my church and they suggested Alpha. The Alpha course was just perfect for me, it really answered so many questions and helped me feel like the Gospel is not off limits to me, and I am worthy to be included in the Christian discussions. I felt like I was welcome into the family of God. Before that I felt like I wasn't allowed in somehow, like I was an outsider to the church and I didn't know to get in. Alpha really helped me in that sense! I went in there just curious and wanted to explore Jesus, but I didn't expect what an enormous transformation Alpha would bring about in my life. The truth of the Gospel shared through the Alpha course really touched my heart permanently and now I identify as Christian, having recognized Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. I will be baptized as soon as the pandemic lockdowns allow churches to offer it again (living in Ontario, Canada). I just wanted to say thank you to everyone on the Alpha team for making the Gospel so relatable, so understandable, so easy for people like me who feel like outsiders to get in and be part of the body of Christ. Hallelujah and may God Bless you!
I took the Alpha course in Toronto. It only strengthened my atheist position. I don't believe any of the crazy Christian claims. Claims for miracles and the supernatural. Too unbelievable and exactly what I'd expect from superstitious iron age mentalities. God is a human construct. It's just people inventing superman as a panacea for everything they don't know.
Came across this clip by accident (though Oogway says "there are no acvidents"!) and just wanted to say great testimony Nicky, but even better to have heard yours Johnny & especially on prime TV. About time a popular secular media had the guts to air something positive about Christianity! Praise God and may it be for His glory.
How do you have a relationship with God? He doesn't say or do anything, if you ask him the square root of 43, he won't tell you. One might say he gives you the strength to get through a difficult situation, but surely it's just your own brain giving you that confidence, a bit like the placebo effect in some way.
At some point in your life, I guarantee you that you will have to ask the same question - "what is the meaning of life?" It is not a question of how but when. There is a purpose to your life.
I love Nicky Gumley, he is a great speaker and teacher. An Atheist, Barrister and now Christian. Jesus chooses people who are from different backgrounds there are no favourites. "Blessed those who believe yet have not seen"....amen
I was an atheist until I had a personal encounter with Jesus. Although it was a life affirming moment for me it raised as many questions as it answered, some of which I'm still struggling with today. What was he doing in my back garden in the first place? Why was he wearing a hoodie? Why did he steal my bike?
I sworn my oath to God on 27.05.2018 in St Martin’s Ludgate in London. I feel so fresh and filled with joy and hope and no fear ever since. I met so many angels and witnessed miracle everyday and my life turned round and round until it’s just right. I’m winning my children back in court on 04.06.2018. I’m writing this on 03.06.2018. Praise Lord Jesus Christ you are with me and you will make me invincible. Amen!
Heard about this interview, but by tonight it was out of date on BBC I-player - so checked the Alpha website and found the link to this clip. Agree with what was said as I too met Jesus (unexpectedly!) on 4th September 1994. The rest, as they say, is history.
Where did you "meet" Jesus? What did he/it look like? Did he speak to you? If so, what did he say? What did his voice sound like? You actually met them or was it more like a feeling? If you could explain and be extremely specific if may help the rest of us.
@@LAdavidthompson wow! I posted that reply 9 years ago. I met Jesus about 7pm on 4th September 1994. It was a reading of Psalm 139 which hit me between the eyes. Then the person leading the service said he thought God had spoken to some one. Yes, it was me. The rest is history. So for me it was 'Word and Spirit'.
I have always been a christian but ive never been im not gonna say a liw level christian because you either arent or you are but i didnt go to church one day i started to go again and enjoyed. Our church was having a baptism week and my bro wanted to get baptised (because of what jesus had showed him on a church camp) i thaught about it then the same night i had a dream were jesus showed me a number of things like a better way to live but there was also a pool in the dream so i asked my gran what she thaught it meant she said it could be linked to baptism so i got baptised afterword it was amazing i felt like a compleatly changed boy. Thanks for reading ☺
What are trusting in for eternal life? There is no such thing as always being a christian. I am concerned as many have a similar testimony without understanding what the gospel actually is. You must be born again but you must ask how this can happen.
God bless Nicky Gumbel for his wonderful sharing of the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. God bless Johnny Vegas for his faith in the Lord. The Alpha course is a wonderful thing to be part of. For instance, many people come as skeptics, once they take in the beautiful message being presented they are change people. Just like Mr Gumble I once was an atheist change by my saviour Jesus. Praise the Lord!!!!
Nice to have a comment from Jonny Vegas also about fighting against religion/ God. It's about relationship, questioning. One question I have no issues with and am please people ask is, "does god exist? It's all imaginary isn't it?". Each person needs to make up their own mind.
5 million watching. What an opportunity to share the Gospel. But it didn't happen. But then anyone who might possibly share the Gospel would not be allowed anywhere near mainstream media.
I had an encounter with an imaginary man too once. Surprisingly though I didn't get patted on the back and praised for it once I explained that he came in the form of a 12 foot gingerbread man. You'd have thought I'd said he could turn water into wine or something crazy like that!
I'm tired of these "I was an atheist then I found Jesus.." reminds of the Skyrim quote... " I used to an an adventurer then I took an arrow to the knee"... What a stupid way of confirming your faith...
kevmem2000 I guess the difference between taking an arrow in the knee and finding Jesus is that one cripples you and limits your possibilities, whereas finding Jesus sets you free, brings true joy and peace to your life, and allows you to begin seeing miraculous healing and deliverances on a regular basis. In fact, the person who truly finds Jesus can most likely heal the person who took an arrow in the knee. So there's that...
I appreciate everything this guy done. I took Alpha course and became Christian later. I found it is the best decision I ever made. Thank you Nicky.

Great job Nicki Gumbel! Awesome testimony of God having a relationship with us! :)
