You NEED one! Try looking at pre owned sites before a store purchase as you can possibly find a good deal! I found my first classic flap on Vestiaire with a receipt, box and a dust bag in like new condition for a steal at the time!

They're not so basic, Sophie! I agree with some of your choices, here would be my picks: 1. Balmain blazer yes, but sometimes the upper arm sleeves ride up annoyingly 2. Hermes Belt rather than the Gucci, recommend either the classic H Constance or H D'Ancre, they're reversible and have interchangeable buckles 3. Chanel brooches/earrings are great and also their long pearl necklaces although they can be frightfully expensive 4. Manolo Blahnik Hangisi court shoes, more comfy than Louboutins any day, OR YSL Tribtoos 5. Lanvin flats 6. Chanel classic double flap bag - unfortunately I also see these everywhere when I go out to events and nights out but they are beautiful and I do really love them still. Double flaps are heavier but they hold the top of the bag's shape better. xx

I totally agree, especially with the blazer and classic flap, that yes its basic, but its also (obvs) classic, and there is nothing wrong with investing in items that will forever be in fashion!! The belt, i can take or leave (I want the hermes one haha but havn't worn any belt in years) and personally never been one for jewellery but i really love how you always style yours!

Personally, my favorite bag of all time is the Alma BB from Louis Vuitton. I just think the shape is so classy and elegant. It also has a special place in my heart because it was the first bag I saved up for when I was 13.

As much as I love luxury I have wayyy too many financial commitments & can't afford to splurge and so the idea of minimalist luxury appeals to me....For me, I would replace the Loubs with Manolo Blahniks, and have a Salvatore Ferragamo belt replace the Marmont belt...lovely, realistic content as usual :)

The only reason people use the term disparagingly is because it implies that the basics got to step one and never advanced. This is an excellent "must have" list.

When I bought my first luxury bag I wanted to go basic as I never knew if I’d buy another one. I bought the LV Speedy 30 in the monogram and I LOVE IT. I also have the neverful GM in the damier azure. I’m going to buy my third bag this weekend and I’m still not sure what to get. I know first world problems.

Sophie, do a video on mid-range iconic designer bags, too. It would be such a good watch. For example, the cult gaia ark bag has become so iconic, but it's pretty affordable. As an older woman (mid-sixties), my prejudice is that very expensive things are always in better taste, if they show a little mileage. They should always convey, “This old thing? Oh, Auntie Clothilde left it to me.”). Which, of course, opens up a world of second-hand eBay lovelies (personal weakness = Hermes scarves). In fact, my mother said, you should never feel bad about having odd initials on the silver, because you don’t want it to look like you bought it at a shop.
It’s ok to be basic and more fun that you acknowledged it. Everyone been down that road. These days I avoid basic by getting seasonal pieces, limited edition and hermes bags

I totally agree on the Chanel! That is the combo I got and my thoughts were “if I could only have one....”. As for the Balmain, I know it’s on social media a lot but in real life I’ve never seen another person wearing one. I have the belted tuxedo style one and it’s beyond words beautiful! I really felt that was worth the cost. I have the Gucci belt and I actually never wear it. I unfortunately bought two colors before I realized I like things a little more understated. Also I do tend to see them a lot in person and it began to bore me quickly.
I think its important to realize that social media and reality are completely different and shouldnt discourage people from buying things they love because it seems played out on Instagram or TH-cam. Ive seen louboutins on social media for years and the only time ive seen them in real life are my sisters and some lady at cvs. I also havent seen anyone in real life with that dior liver bag but its popular here in social media lol i also think that the pieces you're referring to are classics and classics tend to be basics :} love your videos ❤
I could not agree not more! I own the Gucci marmont belt and while people think it is completely played out on social media ( and it is) and I still LOVE mine. I live in the big cosmopolitan city of Toronto, and while I would say that I see it on occasion, I do not see it everywhere in real life.
Yess I’m building my luxury collection now so I want one of each brand that I personally like, i got myself the Gucci marmont in natural, the crystal Versace palazzo in black, and the Gucci marmont belt so now I’m looking into Chanel earrings and another bag or scarf. For me I wouldn't say its "BASIC" rather call them "CLASSIC". And I don't worry if everyone is wearing it, surely I feel and look better when I use them than others dear. Because it all depends on the person using it.
You should check out the Dior bar jacket in the single breasted. It is gorgeously fitted, classy and you can’t get anything more classic than a blazer that’s been around since the 50s!
I think if one doesn't like/want to spend money on the chanel, ysl collage bag is a great alternative. Id love to have a Balmain but I think they are a bit too pricey even though I can afford them, found a gorgeous velvet navy blazer in similar style with great cut from the Swedish brand Hunkydory. Great starters. At one time I did not like the CHANEL style handbags, however the style has grown on me and now I crave one. Darn you Sophie now I have to figure out how to pay for it 😕
What's wrong with them being basic? They are basic pieces, but they are the type of pieces that are so versatile and can be worn and dressed up or down on so many ocasions. Especially great if you're going for a more minimalistic wardrobe or Project 333. I don't think I've ever seen a project 333 video, but with quality designer pieces instead - that would be lovely. I've never paid attention to the Balmain blazers before, I am a new blazer lover in general (I was used to the bulky ones which make you look like you're stuck in the 80s because of my mother so I had a strong dislike of them), but these do look gorgeous indeed. They’re starter pieces that actually aren’t great quality but they’re so common, it’s almost like they’re what poor people think rich people wear. There’s nothing wrong with that but know what you’re getting for all the money you’re spending.
Have you tried the So Kates or the Hot Chick from Christian Louboutin? They are very elegant, but 120mm stiletto heels without a platform makes them a bit hard to walk in, especially if you need to walk down a lot of stairs, you need to be careful in then, but they kinda define the word elegance. Also the harmony line of sandals from Guiseppe Zanotti ( They are a lot harder to walk in though) You should really try them out, you always look your best in skyscraper heels and can wear them with no problems at all;)
Yes the CF can be a little classic, so why not the mini rectangular, I think it still has the CF look but the size gives it a more modern look and it’s cheaper (Because I only have the mini 😅) and I definitely need the Balmain blazer to complete the list ✅
I have one of each with the exception of the Balmain jacket. However I found a look alike that’s very smart looking. I can’t see spending that much on clothing; afraid of size changes 🤔. But I certainly agree with the Chanel classic flap. Btw ❤️ your videos.

I would definitely get the YSL toy loulou! LV quality has gone downhill and there so many fakes around. YSL looks more classic and expensive, in my opinion.

The jumbo is quite heavy. I believe a bit more than a kilo? On the shoulder it's not noticeable (depending on what you put in), but crossbody can dig into your shoulder in quite a bit.

Tiffany Williams Neither are made like they used to be but it’s best to go with which you’d wear more. I will say that the gold can wear off the new ones, which of course doesn’t happen to the silver. However, the better question is lambskin or caviar. I bought my first in lambskin and regretted it - I need durable leather and lambskin is so soft that I hardly wear it (and it’s a beautiful weekender flap). Good luck!
I'm glad I've got a few Chanel bags, among those is the caviar medium size Timeless with silver hardware whose price keeps rising, I bought it in Roma in 2015 at 3,500 euros and now it's higher than 4,200 euros… Some designers bags are good investment...
Personally I don’t like getting things that everyone else has, like the Gucci belt, soon as I see something on everyone, I don’t want it. I also hate wearing logos or brand names unless it’s really subtle. I guess I just don’t care about impressing others with what I wear, I just want to enjoy something for me without looking like absolutely everyone else. 🤷🏻♀️
I really wanted the Black Balmain jacket!! I tried it on in store and have found it on sale online. The ONLY thing is that I'm kinda in between sizes and it fit's a little weird on me. I did find a good dupe that's made of a nice quality material so I purchased that instead. Truth be told, I haven't even worn it yet....smh. I watched a vid that said to buy a dupe 1st just to see how or IF you'd even wear or use it. I'm so glad I did becasue if I'd spent so much money on a blazer and not wear it, I'd be feeling foolish. I have beautiful real gold jewelries and they will last me forever and they have a re sell value. The Chanel flap bag is outdated, the inside of it is very out of time with that narrow shape, but I like the back pocket though. It can fits a phone.

I have a question about the Balmain blazers and jackets....as someone who has one, do you think it would be okay to buy one preloved, in good condition? I'd like to add more of those kind of bags to my collection because they're less stressful to take out (I don't fear damaging them as much) but they still make me feel good.

Don’t apologize, Sophie! Basic is just another word for classic, and true elegance is always simple, which is why it’s so hard to achieve. As an older woman (mid-sixties), my prejudice is that very expensive things are always in better taste, if they show a little mileage. They should always convey, “This old thing? Oh, Auntie Clothilde left it to me.”). Which, of course, opens up a world of second-hand eBay lovelies (personal weakness = Hermes scarves). In fact, my mother said, you should never feel bad about having odd initials on the silver, because you don’t want it to look like you bought it at a shop.
It’s ok to be basic and more fun that you acknowledged it. Everyone been down that road. These days I avoid basic by getting seasonal pieces, limited edition and hermes bags

I totally agree on the Chanel! That is the combo I got and my thoughts were “if I could only have one....”. As for the Balmain, I know it’s on social media a lot but in real life I’ve never seen another person wearing one. I have the belted tuxedo style one and it’s beyond words beautiful! I really felt that was worth the cost. I have the Gucci belt and I actually never wear it. I unfortunately bought two colors before I realized I like things a little more understated. Also I do tend to see them a lot in person and it began to bore me quickly.

I think its important to realize that social media and reality are completely different and shouldnt discourage people from buying things they love because it seems played out on Instagram or TH-cam. Ive seen louboutins on social media for years and the only time ive seen them in real life are my sisters and some lady at cvs. I also havent seen anyone in real life with that dior liver bag but its popular here in social media lol i also think that the pieces you're referring to are classics and classics tend to be basics :} love your videos ❤
I could not agree not more! I own the Gucci marmont belt and while people think it is completely played out on social media ( and it is) and I still LOVE mine. I live in the big cosmopolitan city of Toronto, and while I would say that I see it on occasion, I do not see it everywhere in real life.
Yess I’m building my luxury collection now so I want one of each brand that I personally like, i got myself the Gucci marmont in natural, the crystal Versace palazzo in black, and the Gucci marmont belt so now I’m looking into Chanel earrings and another bag or scarf. I’m thinking of getting the earrings from the real real, do you like them ?
For me I wouldn't say its "BASIC" rather call them "CLASSIC". And I don't worry if everyone is wearing it, surely I feel and look better when I use them than others dear. Because it all depends on the person using it.

You should check out the Dior bar jacket in the single breasted. It is gorgeously fitted, classy and you can’t get anything more classic than a blazer that’s been around since the 50s!
I think if one doesn't like/want to spend money on the chanel, ysl collage bag is a great alternative. Id love to have a Balmain but I think they are a bit too pricey even though I can afford them, found a gorgeous velvet navy blazer in similar style with great cut from the Swedish brand Hunkydory. Great video as always/ love

What's wrong with them being basic? They are basic pieces, but they are the type of pieces that are so versatile and can be worn and dressed up or down on so many ocasions. Especially great if you're going for a more minimalistic wardrobe or Project 333. I don't think I've ever seen a project 333 video, but with quality designer pieces instead - that would be lovely.
I've never paid attention to the Balmain blazers before, I am a new blazer lover in general (I was used to the bulky ones which make you look like you're stuck in the 80s because of my mother so I had a strong dislike of them), but these do look gorgeous indeed.

Ph0.3niX Because if you know fashion , they don’t convey the classic look most newly rich folks who buy these items think they do. They’re starter pieces that actually aren’t great quality but they’re so common, it’s almost like they’re what poor people think rich people wear. There’s nothing wrong with that but know what you’re getting for all the money you’re spending.
Have you tried the So Kates or the Hot Chick from Christian Louboutin? They are very elegant, but 120mm stiletto heels without a platform makes them a bit hard to walk in, especially if you need to walk down a lot of stairs, you need to be careful in then, but they kinda define the word elegance. Also the harmony line of sandals from Guiseppe Zanotti ( They are a lot harder to walk in though) You should really try them out, you always look your best in skyscraper heels and can wear them with no problems at all;)
Yes the CF can be a little classic, so why not the mini rectangular, I think it still has the CF look but the size gives it a more modern look and it’s cheaper (Because I only have the mini 😅) and I definitely need the Balmain blazer to complete the list ✅
I have one of each with the exception of the Balmain jacket. However I found a look alike that’s very smart looking. I can’t see spending that much on clothing; afraid of size changes 🤔. But I certainly agree with the Chanel classic flap. Btw ❤️ your videos.

I would definitely get the YSL toy loulou! LV quality has gone downhill and there so many fakes around. YSL looks more classic and expensive, in my opinion.

The jumbo is quite heavy. I believe a bit more than a kilo? On the shoulder it's not noticeable (depending on what you put in), but crossbody can dig into your shoulder in quite a bit.

Tiffany Williams Neither are made like they used to be but it’s best to go with which you’d wear more. I will say that the gold can wear off the new ones, which of course doesn’t happen to the silver. However, the better question is lambskin or caviar. I bought my first in lambskin and regretted it - I need durable leather and lambskin is so soft that I hardly wear it (and it’s a beautiful weekender flap). Good luck!
I'm glad I've got a few Chanel bags, among those is the caviar medium size Timeless with silver hardware whose price keeps rising, I bought it in Roma in 2015 at 3,500 euros and now it's higher than 4,200 euros… Some designers bags are good investment...

Personally I don’t like getting things that everyone else has, like the Gucci belt, soon as I see something on everyone, I don’t want it. I also hate wearing logos or brand names unless it’s really subtle. I guess I just don’t care about impressing others with what I wear, I just want to enjoy something for me without looking like absolutely everyone else. 🤷🏻♀️

I really wanted the Black Balmain jacket!! I tried it on in store and have found it on sale online. The ONLY thing is that I'm kinda in between sizes and it fit's a little weird on me. I did find a good dupe that's made of a nice quality material so I purchased that instead. Truth be told, I haven't even worn it yet....smh. I watched a vid that said to buy a dupe 1st just to see how or IF you'd even wear or use it. I'm so glad I did becasue if I'd spent so much money on a blazer and not wear it, I'd be feeling foolish. I did however by the Balmain tshirt and I love it, but also don't wear it often. I love your channel and all you advice on luxury items. Thanks!

I have a question about the Balmain blazers and jackets....as someone who has one, do you think it would be okay to buy one preloved, in good condition? I love the look of them, but the idea of paying that much for a blazer is just a lot to me. I would rather spend 3k on a purse than just a jacket (even if I'd ideally wear it for the rest of my life). Buying preloved is still a lot- but better than spending close to 3k after taxes. Or are there any sites that have them on sale occasionally?
