This song is timeless ;-) I'm 39, bought that stone roses album the week it was released and I'm still not old get out there and live your life! This is a great cover by the way.
you disagree? The Stone Roses debut album is ranked number 4 in rolling stone magazines greatest albums of all time list and number 1 in NME greatest bands of all time list...
Totally! I realized that two of my all time favorite albums were produced by Leckie. The other is Cake by The Trashcan Sinatras. Anyways, being an ignorant American, I didn't know much of Leckie till then.
A fun fact... I live in Rio and couple years ago I bought a cd of Death Cab (The Plan) by just one dollar (slightly). The street seller haven't knew about this band and the fair price for a cd by them. Anyway, don't sell your soul.: ;)
@jasonjmj I didn't have space in my other comment so I will say it here, good post about the purpose and nature of cover versions from the side of the artist covering.
@jasonjmj Umm Hendrix Watchtower was better than Dylans... lol Sometimes things are improved or developed far beyond the original, but this really hasnt expanded on the original so it was probably played cause these guys love the band and are not trying to do anything but have fun with a song they dig. Nothing wrong with that either.
no offence, but i take it all you people leaving comments r not british? this song was origonally recorded by the stone roses and was the opening track on their self titled debut album. i highly recommend getting a copy as its probably the best album of all time!! NOTHING BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL!!! good version though.
@jasonjmj I would argue that there are a select few. Dinosaur Jr.'s cover of 'Just like Heaven' by the Cure is superior imo, and I may take quite a few people with me on that one. Arguing purely which is better is stupid, it should be about talking about the songs individually. If all a person has to contribute is that they like another song better/that "this sucks" then really is it a worthwhile contribution? Criticism is what makes our art worthwhile, would we be really engaging otherwise?
uhh... yeah... the stone roses... really obscure there. im sure no one has ever heard of them. next thing you'll be doing is tell people about the little gem called the smiths or joy division. open the flood gates!
I would have to disagree, death cab is better overall. That's not to say that they are better at playing this song, just that in the long run death cab has made more and better songs.
one of the best covers ive seen where a band has perfectly put their own touch on it
First decent cover I've heard of this monumental tune. Lovely job of it, fellas. Keep up the good work.
I remember that show! Those were the good old days.

I just have to say that Ben's dancing is absolutely marvellous.
Nothing could ever live up to the original, but as far as covers go, I love it.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing someone they could sell their soul.
yes! their first album is a true masterpeice
John Leckie is one of the best producers
@jasonjmj I would say that Lou Reed's performance of Sweet Jane isn't nearly as memorizing as the Cowboy Junkies' version.
great cover!
easily the best song ever
@brianjbean man, that 1:08 move is amazing....awesome cover
@pstrokeslibsarctic
HAHAHAHA Totally!!! I was thinking to myself *Where have I seen that little dance before?* Good eye!! :)

@jasonjmj I didn't have space in my other comment so I will say it here, good post about the purpose and nature of cover versions from the side of the artist covering.

yeah his body movements are very ian curtis
@Speccy94 hear hear!
@Roche1983 Usually bands like it when fans show excitement about their music.
In all fairness, The Stone Roses was all about Ian's baggy dancing. Ben's got that down =P
@sweetmozzer95 HAHA! IKR!

uhh... yeah... the stone roses... really obscure there. im sure no one has ever heard of them. next thing you'll be doing is tell people about the little gem called the smiths or joy division. open the flood gates!

@bryanlavery DERRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
@Choscar666 listentoyoutube(dot)com
Damn narcissist! 😆
i love death cab but this is clearly not on a par with the original. nowhere near in fact
the only descent thing that band has ever done
at least they did it in their own style which is pretty sweet, good though.

Fuck me Yanks will never get the Manchester Scene. Come Manchester if ya wanna learn it Propa
Oh my GOD, YOU'RE NO IAN BROWN. Good choice of song though.
I would have to disagree, death cab is better overall. That's not to say that they are better at playing this song, just that in the long run death cab has made more and better songs.
